I need information about how un-healthy it is to breed your cat alot and how you should spay and nuter. Maybe statics abuot how many un-wanted animals there are or things like that.

(sorry about the time line and ages) See here is the situation. Mary (Soxie) which some of you may have met at the PA Pet talk meeting, has a cat named Angel and her son named Wiley. Baby came to Mary about 5 or so months ago at about the age of 6 months pregnet. Mary complained about how irresponsible the people were about not getting her spayed. Baby had a bunch of kittens who mary gave away to people she knew, people who didn't get those kittens spayed and are now pregnet at the age of about 5 or 6 months. Well now Baby is pregnet again, she isn't even 1 year old yet and has had 2 litters!!! And Wiley, the baby cat that mary kept isn't nuetered and Mary has no way of proving the babies aren't his   I am soooo mad. She thinks it's no big deal and is exited to be having babies again in her house (man could I strangle her).

So, lets go over this again, her poor cat, who is under the age of one has been pregnet twice and the second time maybe to her son.

And, to top it all off, Mary didn't even give the kitten away to responisible owners as one of the kittens is pregnet right now

I am soooo mad about this!!!!!!! I am friends with both mary and the kittens owner. So I would like to give them info on why it is good to spay and nueter, why it is bad for them to have litter after litter and things like that. I want it from many diffrent sources to prove to them it is true. The more sources the better!

Thank you kitty people,
Ashley

Here's another site that I contribue to:

Spay/Neuter Info Resources (http://www.straypetadvocacy.org/html/spay-neuter.html)

(Scroll to the bottom of the page for further resources.)

I think the best lesson about the overpopulation crisis is to take that person to a shelter and talk to the staff. They will show her how many animals are put to death DAILY because of people like her, who believe non-spayed animals is not a big deal!

Good luck in educating these people! Education is the key.

Ashley,

I would tell her that inbreeding, which is what she is doing by letting a mother and son mate, not only contributes to the cat overpopulation, but it also causes birth defects in the kittens that will be born. What will she do if the mama has a litter of kittens with birth defects??? They will be deemed unadoptable because of their defects and she will have a VERY difficult time placing them. Not to mention all the vet bills for their medical problems.

This person needs a whack on the side of the head with a 2x4.

STUPID, STUPID PEOPLE!!!!
