Well, actually the good news I feel is GREAT!!!!
Keegan went for a thyroid check today and she has LOST a pound. I realize it is only a pound but it is a step in the right direction and that makes me very happy. B/c we have been working very hard on the weight loss!
BUT..............
:(
Her thyroid levels aren't normal yet. They actually went the other way. :( It was lower then the last time. :( So she is on 1 1/2 pills twice a day for awhile.
But even tho the levels were down, we are still heading in the right direction and that makes me H-A-P-P-Y!!!

How did you know to even have her thyroid checked? Nina seems over weight to me, but the vet has never mentioned a blood test. And Tom says she is just a husky dog...
One pound is a lot for a dog. Not as much for us.:p

TomKatzKid.
In June I took Keegan to the vet b/c she had a scaly bald patch on her back. At first we attributed it allergies, but since she is heavy and HYPER (every active) the vet was watching/observing her and he said "Can I run a thyroid?" I was like "sure" thinking "Yea I would like to say I have a thyroid problem too, but I can't so I am sure her's is normal" Sure enough it was low. At first she was on one pill a day then she had a relapse with the hair falling out so then she was on 2 pills a day, now she has no trouble at all with the hair/skin/coat, but the levels showed that it was low.
I know that Amy had Cincy's vet check her thyroid and it took a couple weeks to get the results, but my vet runs it in their office and I got the results in less than 20 min.
Amy,
Yea it would fun if we lived closer not just for the doggie weight loss thing!!! :)
I have basically just cut her food in about half. She only gets 2 - 2 1/2 cups a day, and I make sure that she chases her tennis ball for about 20 min at least everyday. I can definately tell when she doesn't get to do it now, b/c she is NUTS when I come home from work!!!
My neighbor told me last night that Keegan looks so much better after losing her weight and I said "well she has only lost a pound'' and she said "really she looks like she has lost more than that!"
Apparently, she is just toned up! :) Maybe she has lost inches and not weight!!! ;)

Yes, 1 lb is alot! And don't worry about the levels going the other way this time because that's the same thing Angus's did. It only took a few different changes before we got the right dosage (it's been the same way with my thyroid level:rolleyes: ).
*KISSES* to you Keegan:D

Oh I can so relate. It's taken nearly ayear and a half to ge tme on the right dosage. I saw a specialist last time who informed me that it may need to be changes several times in my lifetime, even though it has leveled out for now.
Glad she lost a pound, wish I could too! :D :D :D
