Hello everyone. I would like to dedicate this thread to my little guy who just went to the rainbow bridge this Saturday. He was a stray I've been feeding since April. Two weeks ago, I finally had the chance to take him home where I'm allowed to have pets. I so looked forward to spending our lives together. He just started playing a week ago. I looked forward to his first Halloween, Christmas and many many bdays. As it turned out, God has a better plan for him. He is scheduled for a vet appointment this Sat for neutering and all those shots. Since he is the first cat at home, I never thought he'd get sick before that. On Thurs night he wasn't feeling well , I figured he probably just ate something. On Friday afternoon, he was worse so I took him to the vet. He was diagnosed with cat fever. Where he got it , Ill never know... Maybe I gave it to him. The vet gave us fluids and I thought he'd recover. By Sat morning he was gone.

I've been crying for 2 days nonstop and I don't know when the pain will ever go away. He was the sweetest cat I've ever known. The only cat I had that would let you hold him for as long as you want. I keep telling myself that he must be an angel whose mission is already complete. That's the only way I could explain it for how could he be taken away so soon from us. Please say a prayer for Randi , my good boy. I'll post his picture later....

Didi... my baby , You had a short life but we promise we'll never forget you. A part of me died when you left. The only thing that keeps me going is the thought that you are now my angel. Have fun in the rainbow bridge, I'll see you and the other babies soon..

I'm so sorry! I don't know what to say but do know that you made his last months better. You were his angel and now he will be yours.

I am so very, very sorry for your loss. Like Jazzcat said " You were his angel and now he is yours" God sends us special kitties for a reason, someday you will know what that reason was. It is never easy but know in your heart that you made a difference in Randi's life.

My Tony, Cleo and Tobias were there welcoming Randi, and I'm sure he has lot's of other friends on the RB already.

He started playing after a week. His favorite toys are the flying feather and the little mousies....

Princess_Snow,

I am so sorry for your loss! He was such a beautiful boy! You couldn't have possibly given him cat fever. So don't blame yourself. He was probably sick long before he met you and it just got worse.

RIP little Randi. Give my angels Casey Bubba Dude, Marina Mar and Carrie smoochies from their mom. Most of all, KNOW that you were loved.

Rest in peace sweet Didi, Play hard on the rainbow bridge.

I think that Didi came to you, as he knew you would take him in and make his last days full of love and joy.

So many cats go though their life without having the love he had.

Be proud that you made such a difference to his life, he went to the bridge knowing he was loved and wanted.

I know how easy it is to get attached in such a short time.

See RB Caramel in my signature, he was our nearly cat, the stray we picked up. Like Didi he was sick and sadly we made the decision to have him PTS, after knowing him just a few weeks.

I was surprised how deeply his death affected us. :(

I know you are grieving but it might be worth looking into adopting a cat in need of a home, for you to love.

Not replacing Didi (no cat would do that) but to save a life, to have someone to cheer you up, to remind you of how happy Didi was in his last days on this earth.

Sending {{{Hugs}}} your way.

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement.... I honestly felt better to have read your posts. It is so good to know people that understand and love animals the same way that I do. I am looking forward to adopting my next cat... However, I have to recuperate from the vet bill first and I have to TNR the rest of my colony, Didi's sister and mom. They seem to be very wild so the best way to help them right now is to spay and provide vaccines for them. Also mama cat just had kittens before we could have her spayed. I would probably take them home when they get a little bigger....(I'm posting their picture next) But most of all I have to disinfect the house. The vet suggested to clean the house with bleach and to not take in animals for a month. One thing's for sure, I'm not taking them in without having to go to the vet first.

Thanks again! Didi's story ended way too soon but I guess it's time to move on and start another cat's story....

This is so sad, so upsetting you were never able to give him all the love you know you could have. But you loved him in the time he had, and that is what's important.

He is absolutely gorgeous in his pictures. Rest in peace beautiful baby.

I hope things work out with Didi's Mum and sister and the new litter. Please keep us posted!

How terribly sad. Having a house full of ferals I can understand what all you go through just to get them to trust you. I'm so glad you showed him that humans can be kind and loving. What a blessing you gave him before he crossed over. Thank you http://petoftheday.com/talk/images/our_smilies/smile.gif

I am sorry for the loss of your sweet Randi and sad you could only have this short time to show him that he was loved. I know he will live on in your heart. Thank you for taking care of Randi and his mother and sister.

I am amazed at the resemblance of Randi to my Lil Eli!!! Eli was also feral. He still has a little feralness in him. Randi was precious. You and Randi are in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm so sorry to hear about Randi's passing. :( Although he was only with you for a short time, I know that he felt very loved. Now he's free from pain and playing up at Rainbow Bridge with all the cats like my RB Pepper. Please take care.
