This is a picture of a small kitten my daughter brought home from school. She found her in the trash can at the mechanics shop after the boys there had been using her as a football, and then was thrown into the trash. She was about 2 weeks old, when she was brought home to me. She is now about 7 months old. She has been such a sweet pet, she has a bobtail, which is very strange at the end, has extra skin that curls under. She has done very well since she came to live with us, and I have loved every minute of having her with me. We named her Grover because she was found in a trashcan. I have lots of pictures of her, as she has done a lot of growing and of course she is spoiled rotten too

Why hello, Grover! Aren't you beautiful, and NOW well loved. I am sorry your start in life was so awful. But, you now know not all humans are as demented as those boys.

Thanks for all the replys on my little addition to my family, I think the person that put her in the garbage actually saved her life, because my 17 year old daughter found her there and brought her to me in a tissue box. I had no idea how or what I was going to feed her, she came into my life on April 4, 2003 and the picture of her in my hand was made on Easter. I thought I was never going to be able to teach her to eat out of a bowl, after she reached 6 weeks with me, she thought she was supposed to shove her face into the bowl and suck. There is such a story about this little baby that seem to just fall out of the sky into my lap. The day before Easter I had fell and broke my foot, so she was with me constantly, and I haven't left her.

Thank you for sharing the story of sweet little Grover. She was in that garbage can so that your daughter could find her and she could have you to love and care for her. Please share more pictures of her both as a kitten and as the beautiful cat she must be today.

Thanks to all of you, who have replyed to my stories about my little angel. We have a certain time of day that we lay on the couch and she cuddles and wants to clean my face, she is a wonderful find, my daughter gave her to me as a mothers day present, so my mothers day present came out of the garbage. It was the best mothers day present I have ever received. when Grover was tiny she loved sleeping in hats, caps, and baskets. She has done a lot of growing and don't fit in caps anymore. As I type she is in my lap sleeping, she is likes to eat, so I keep her food bowl on my desk, here at the computer. Sometimes when I pet her, she thinks that means she is supposed to eat, so I guess I have her conditioned for that. Anyway thanks to all for your wonderful, and loving replys, Grover loves it!!!

I am amazed that she hasn't suffered any long lasting consequnces health wise after being used as a football. She doesn't have any problems hearing or seeing or anything like that ? or am I getting the wrong end of the kitty tail here?

She seems to be doing just great, no effects of any kind, though at first I did worry about everything. Her little tummy stayed swollen for a while and i was worried about that, but I fed her the orphan kittens milk from the vets and kept an eye on everything she done, from using the bathroom to how she ate, and kept her clean. Made sure her bedding was clean. The vet kept me assured that she was okay, as long as she was not passing any blood, and urinating the way she was supposed to. Now she is seven months old I would say, I got her on April 4, and she had just got her eyes open. One of the pictures of her sucking egg yolk out of my hand was made on Easter, I had just fell the night before and broke my ankle, so she was with me constantly, and still is. She seems now like she wants to take care of me, she licks my lips, my face and even my eyes. I feel like she takes care of me now. :) :D

Thanks for everyones kind words, I just never knew there were so many people that would be so interested in Grover, and her life. She was so used to being used as a football, that she was in front of the door, and my husband started to go out the door, he took his foot and just moved her to the side, and she just lay there like she was ready to be kicked again. I made it a rule that nobody use their foot on her in anyway, because she looked so pitiful. My husband is one of those that don't like to touch animals of any kind! :o . All the kind words have made me feel there are a lot more people out there that does love cats, my husband says hardly anybody likes cats.:D . I'm glad to see he is wrong and i'm right.:D :D

Boy your husband is sooooooooo soooooo wrong. There are millions of people who just love cats.
In regards to little Grover just lying there when she is pushed out of the way by a foot, my guys do the same thing when they are lying in front of the front door and we go to push them out of the way with our foot. Nine out of ten times we have something in our hands, so they just lay there and look at us as if to say, "Oh yeah, make me." So in the end, we have to put down what we have in our hands and pick them up out of the way. I like to think of it as they don't want us to go out.
LOL Who controls who eh!
So hopefully, this is what your little Grover is doing rather than thinking she is going to be kicked like a football. Oh I shudder at the thought of it.
Give her a big kiss and hug for me please.

I finally figured out how to add pictures to my signature, but now I am having trouble keeping them in a straight line, never the less, I hope you enjoy my new pictures of Grover. She seems to be getting bigger all the time, she wants to eat all the time. She has really become part of the family now, and has a mind of her own, no nap time until she thinks its time to take a nap with her mommy, me, :D :) She is getting so independent, I keep having to remind her that I am the mommy.:(

I don't know if you know how she got the name Grover or not, but it was because my 17 year old daughter rescued her from a trash can at school, where some boys had found her and decided to play football with her, mad: kicking her completely across the floor, mad: one of the boys thought she was dead and threw her in the trash can, and my daughter happen to see she was still breathing and rescued her from the trash. My grandchildren voted to name ner Grover after the sesame street character that lives in a trash can. She was about two weeks old when she came to live with me and thats why I call myself mommy to her. :D , but anyway she did survive the ordeal and came to live with me, she was my mothers day present. I love the idea that my mothers day present came from the garbage can.:D :)

You are so right, her tail is my favorite part of her. Her tail has extra skin at he end and it make it curl under. When I first got her, my husband wanted me to cut that off of her, but no wayyy!!! Like I told him, that is is personality, it looks so cute when she is walking around with her tail erect, I just get so much joy out of everything she does, and it seems to be something new everyday that she does. Sleeping in my purse, finding drawers to sleep in, she gets excited over everything, anything and everything is a toy to her, I had to give up on trying to keep up with her toys, she loses them and then finds them again. Her favorite thing to play with, and this gets to be a problem, is ponytail holders. She steals them and then runs off to play with them. Thank you for your comments about her, I really love her and appreciate all the comments I have got on her.
Thank to everybody!!:) :D

Hi lizbud
Buffy had her puppies just fine, of course she is so spoiled that she would not have them until I put her in bed with me:eek: , so I ended up putting garbage bags on the bed and then quilts and sheets so i would not have a mess, and then when I layed down with her, she had them, she is a very spoiled chihuahua, I don't know how she go so spoiled.:D , LOL , she had 4 beautiful puppies, with no problems, well actually she had 5, and one was born dead.:( , but I was thankful for the ones she had that lived. It just makes a nervous wreck out of me when she has puppies, but she will not be having anymore, the babymaker left. sigh of relief. She has had enough puppys, don't want her to have anymore, I lost one like that, don't know what happend, but she had done so well with all her others, and then with the last litter, she got down, I begged the Vet to please let me bring her in at 4 o'clock in the morning, but he told me she was just tired, but I knew better, finally he let me bring her in around 6 in the morning, and she died just as he was driving up into the parking lot. So now I get very nervous when Buffy has puppies, but not anymore for her. My little Tito was the one that died, she left me wiht 6 babies to raise, and they all died except one, and I name him Little Man, but at the age of three months he fell off of my couch and died, he broke my heart, I thought I would surely get to keep one of Tito's pups. Tito was my first Chihuahua, I've loved them ever since. Thanks for your concern for my little Buffy and the comments about my grover.

From trash to treasures is absolutley true, my little girl was so tiny, she was only about 2 weeks old when I got her, don't know how much she weighed though. We are two lucky people to have these wonderful treasures, that some ignorant person did not want, I'm like you, I wouldn't trade her for anything in this world, or for no amount of money, she is my baby. I know you breathe a sigh of relief everytime you look at your precious boy, ummmm, yours is a boy and mine is a girl and they have so much in common, oh wait I just had mine spayed. LOL. Anyway we are two lucky people to find friendship in a trashcan. :D

Grover is just adorable! She was so tiny when you got her, and look how much she's grown. Those markings are just beautiful. Her tail is shaped just like Toby's except his is a little longer. It's kinked on the end like that, too (I haven't been able to catch a good photo of his tail sticking out). I think it got slammed in a door - what do you think?
trayi52
10-17-2003, 11:13 PM
Hi stacwase,
Your cats tail is like this? How cute. The part that curls on Grovers tail, is excess skin, I think she was born that way, she was a natural bobtail, but it was deformed with the extra skin on the end of it, my husband wanted me to snip the extra skin off, but no way!! It looks so hilarious when she walks around with her little tail erect, and that tail has so much hair on it. When she gets suprised or scared, it gets huge and very fluffy and very round, like cotton tail bunnys tail.LOL. It is so funny looking, I love her, deformed tail and all. LOL. Sounds like Toby's tail is a winner too, I would love to see a picture of Toby, he has to be adorable, what a match him and Grover would make.:D Is he as mean as Grover, she is contantly into things, stealing things, she is a regular little thief, and thinks she belongs up here on my computer desk, not good for keyboard, but well she is spoiled, what can I say? Thank you for you wonderful comments about my Grover and your beautiful Toby.:)
p.s. Toby and Grover could sit around and talk about their tails.

Hi popcornbird
I just can't figure out how you got the pictures into one picture like that, what feature did you use in photoshop to do that, did you have to make the pictures smaller too. Just tell me where you found those options, I have looked that program over, and can't see anything to lead me to what you done, including putting the frame around them. Just give me a few pointers, photoshop seems to be so complicated, I can't even figure out how to get red eye out of a picture. Give me all the pointers you can, because I would really love to learn just a little about the program. I thank you, and so does my Grover, and Charliebird, you know him, don't you? LOL. Thanks for any advice or instructions you can give me.
Thanks again, and you do work wonders,

Hi Uabassoon,
Yeah she has certainly found she likes owning me as her pet. Maybe she will start a thread in here about me. She is spoiled rotten and thinks she is the boss of this house, or should I say she knows it for sure. She certainly is living a good life now, gets whatever she wants, the only thing she don't like is that I won't let her go outside, there are coyotes around and I am so afraid that one will get her, and I don't know what I would do without her.

Grovers eyes have now changed since she has done some growing up, but to me they are still beautiful, I know you were asking for a picture of Mario, my capuchin monkey, so I am including an attachment with this reply. i love reading about your sweet little kitty grover . she is really a wonderful rescue , that has rewarded you many times over . there just needs to be more compassion for the little creatures that are homeless ,like you gave grover . the rewards are endless.
the bad thing is there are people that have no compassion for any species . i have seen humans abused, as well as animals abused and mistreated, because of their sex, religion, race , education , disabilities...and it goes on and on..... there are people with no heart that do these things to other living creatures ! i am so glad grover was found by a compassionate and loving person . :)
trayi52, please do share about Mario, he is just too cute and too interesting to not share with the world! :D And By the way, about Grover's eyes. Doesn't matter what color they turned out to be; she is still beautiful, princess Grover! :D
amoore: I agree with you completely, there are animals abused, humans abused and it is ussually about all or one the things you mentioned. Yes, with this beautiful world we have been given, along with it came some heartless people, as well, as these heroes like trayi52, and people full of kindness as both of you are.:) Thank you both for all your kindness.

Hi anathiona,
Thank you for your reply on my sweet little Grover, she is a miracle to me, like god just dropped her in my lap to love and love me back. I am not sure about whether I will start a thread about Mario or not, probably not. I have just run into so many conflicts her on pet talk, I am thinking about just deleting the whole thread, and leaving pet talk altogether. Everybody in this thread has been very nice, but some of the other threads that I subscribed to are just vicious, with talk I certainly would not want my children or grandchildren to read. I guess, I need to go lay down on the couch and take one of those little naps with my Grover. Maybe I will feel better. I want to thank everybody who has responed to My little Grover, you just can't imagine how good all of you made me feel. This thread has been very rewarding to me and to my little Grover, who seems to get bigger and bigger everyday and sinking deeper into my heart every moment she is with me, she really is a gift from god to me, think about this, I never seen what her parents looked like, and she was just found in a car and used as a football and then dumped in the trash just for me. :) :D Again thanks and I love you all for all the kind words of encouragement I have received.

That was a lovely picture of my precious Grover, thats the picture where it looks like she has outgrown her little basket that she used to be able to sleep in comfortably, I used to try and keep her toys in that basket, (it was one of my grandchildrens Easter baskets) but she would take all the toys out and sleep in it, so i moved it to the top of the television, and she still found that she could jump high and get in it anyway. Imagine me thinking that I could put it high enough for a cat not to reach? Thanks for going to my album and picking this picture out. I am going to put more pictures in it later on tonight, I will send you an invitation to veiw it. Thanks:)

Hi Killearn Kitties
Thanks for the comments about my beautiful Grover, and yes she is really growing. Its funny that I don't notice it, but when my older married daughter comes in and says mama Grover really is growing, and I say you really think so? I go look at the pictures I Have took of her when she was just a baby, and I think, who is that cute little kitten in that picture, she has lost most of her baby face. To me it is still such a beautiful face, still has the mischievousness in her little face, like when she steals my ponytail holders, seems to be her favorite thing to play with, or just a paper off my desk. Thats where she likes to eat, her little food bowl sets on my desk, so that she can eat when she wants to. I have to keep it there because my chihuahuas like to eat her food too. and they have their own food, but still they have to try and eat her food too, and her food cost more than theirs. Kitten food sure is high. LOL, but she is worth every penny of it, I say this as she is in my desk drawer messing with somthing in there, don't know what she is looking for.
I wonder what happened to our pictures from imagestation? My signature is not showing and the link to my photo album is just bringing up a page not found, must be having trouble with their page, at least I hope my signature hasn't diappeared into the land of nothing. Oh well maybe it will be back tomorrow, I am keeping my fingers crossed anyway.:)

Imagestation has its days, when the site goes down sometimes........and then our signatures won't show. Hopefully it will be back by tomorrow. It usually goes down at night when it goes down, and by morning, its fixed. Don't worry about it. :p
As for teaching you to use PhotoShop, I think we had a whole thread about it on General before.........and that's where I got my tips. Maybe if you go to General and seach *PhotoShop*, you will find it.
I would love to teach you how to use it, but with school and everything, I'm not sure how I'll get the time to make a whole explanation........but whenever I get time, I'll be sure to tell you what I know!
Willie, I had been discouraged with some of the other threads here as well; but I know that we have the special bond it takes to belong here with our babies, so don't let that stop you from brigtening this thread and whichever others that you are comfortable with. I thought seriously about that too, (only because of certain other threads, but not any of the genrals. I decided not to leave. I hope you will decide not to leave also. I really love your stories about all your special babies, so I am sure may other memebers feel the same way about your posts.
Aww come on; Mario is very special and soo cute! I hope you will reconsider and do a special thread all about him. :D

Funny thing happened with Grover early this morning, I was sleeping, when I finally awoke, and she was slapping me on my face and nudging me with her nose, but when she finally got me awake, I was having some sort of chills, and I could barely breathe. I realized I was hyperventalating for some reason. Anyway when she woke me, I finally did get my breathing calmed down and put me an extra blanket on the bed, and she crawled under the blankets with me, and cuddled really close, like she was trying to keep me warm, I have never had a cat or a dog do somthing like this before, like she was trying to help me. Maybe it sounds stupid, but I believe she was trying to help me.
Oh by the way popcorn, I have a few more pictures in my album of Charlie sweet, if you want to see a weird bird, that sounds like a telephone dialing, a puppy whining and making kissing sounds when you tell him you love him.LOL.:)
Hey Willie,
It is not silly to believe that princess Grover kitty was trying to wake you up to help you, these sweet little creatures have an extra sense about them and they know when a person is sick or in danger. My little April, the night before LaKesha got so bad off, kept us awake all night whining and was so restless, neither of us (husband and I), got very little sleep that entire night. I thought she was in labor, but I found out the next morning that she wasn't even pregnant. That evening, LaKesha Anathiona almost died, (I added her middle name so that everyone here would see where I got my user name here.) Now, I know why she did what she did. She was trying to tell us that LaKesha was getting really sick. My soon to be ex- sister-in-law has a big, beautiful pit bull and he knows I have problems and will not try to knock me down of all people. These special gifts knows things that we can't possibly know. And I feel sure that they do, I will never believe different. Grover is a gem. I am so happy she was there to wake you up. Give her love from me. :)
Though I officially had to end my Floyd thread last night, I would like to let everone know that, as I was picking up more of mine and my son's belongings from our ex-home, I got to visit with Floyd.:D He was cold because my soon to be ex-husband left the air on while he was at his evening shift job.:( But I talked to him a lot, and I felt the pain of not being with him for the past couple of days.:( Little Ann had no food and very little water, but she is bad to throw her bowls around and dump them so it isn't a big shock to find empty bowls, but on the ground was only a small amount of food, so I had Blake (my son) to feed her and water her. We gave her attention and she was happy. I really hope he is going to be good to these little guys and make them happy. They deserve it. I miss Floyd so much. I just wish I could take him with me, but due to how we got him, it is impossible. :( The good thing is, until I get all of our things brought to where we now live, I will get to check in on Floyd and Lil' Ann for awhile.:( :) My litte April will get me through this loss as she has got me through much bigger losses in the past. She is my little four- legged, furry angel.:) Just wanted to let everyone know I got to see Floyd and Lil' Ann for a little while today. :)

Jennifer, is it not bad for him to get so cold, I always thought, that birds like that could not stand the cold, of course, im not that knowing about birds, all I know about is my Charlie Sweet, so I'm not too good at knowing whats good for them and whats not. Maybe you should just go ahead and tell that X that if he can't take care of Floyd properly, then you are going to take him with you, and you would let him a supervised visitations .:D. It sounds like he is not going to even remember that he has Floyd, and that is just being mean to him. Who knows he may not even notice that Floyd is gone. LOL. I hope he treats lil ann okay. I would hate to see her stop developing as young as she is, she still has a lot of growing to do.
Willie
I believe you are right, I believe these birds flourish in hot climates. I wish I could take him, but he is one that thinks of pets as objects of value first, then pets second. If I could I would take him in a minute, but I would be dragged into court. I love Floyd and I know that if his family finds him mistreating Floyd, one of them will take him and it will be someone that will take care of him I believe. I think though that Floyd may have been hit with a broom as he is afraid of a broom. I don't really know what to do. I do not have a right to take him. I hope and pray, he will be alright. I know my x will not hurt him, and I know he will be fed and tlaked to, but he will never get what i gave to him, I loved him for who he was, not how much he was worth. The family says that they bought him for $3000.00 but I do not see him in dollar signs. He is precious. Because he is hip-hopping, sweet talking, pretty boy Floyd.

Well I don't how anybody can think of a pet bird as just something
that its only value is money, my little Grover is worth much more to me than any amount of money, I put my heart and soul into this little baby, and my heart and soul is not for sale at any price, so that means I could never part with Grover, no! Not for any amount of money. I take care of her and I believe with all my heart she takes care of me too. :)

:eek: Charlie is SUCH an adorable birdie!!!! AWWWWW! Thanks so much for sharing! :D
Be careful with his around the cat though. I would *never* trust a cat with a bird. Never. Its just not safe enough.
Anathiona, I'm so glad you got to see Floyd, but heartbroken that it seems he isn't being well taken care of. :( I hope someone takes good care of him, and loves him as they should. Poor baby. :(
As for him being afraid of brooms, I don't think that should mean he was hit by one. My birdies are scared to death of brooms and they haven't even ever come near one. They just see me sweeping and get so frightened.

Your absolutly right popcorn, I don't trust Grover around Charlie too much, just when I am in the room with them, if I leave the room I either put Charlie back in the cage or put Grover out of the room, Pyewackett, my other cat, now there was a cat I could trust, she would never bother a bird at all, you should have seen her, my birds could just walk all around her and she would just go on sleeping unless they pecked her, then she would just get up and move to another location. I am hoping as Grover gets older that she will realize that Charlie lived here first and she becomes tolerant of her, right now Grover thinks everything is a toy, even me. Seems amazing that all the pets that I'm really close to, are the ones i fed as little babys, Charlie, Grover, and Buffy my little Chihuahua. Here is a picture of Pyewackett and her kittens.
:) :D

oh me ! that is a beautiful sight ! mommy kitty and babies ! thanks for that picture . very sweet !:) here is a picture of my sunny when he was a baby :D
To, Willie,
I feel the same way...loving a pet has absolutely nothing to do with their monetary worth. It is the love they give you and the love you have for them, the smiles and laughter they give you daily and their unique personalities that make them truly valuable to us as pets. The person that holds on to a pet for their value in money is a cold person. These creatures are blessings; gifts from God for us and companions. Your princess Grover is a really special girl. Pyewackett and her babies together made a very sweet picture. I also loved Grover in the attachment at seven months old. Pyewackett is a beautiful kitty with an extraordinary cream color. Thanks for sharing these pictures with us.
To Popcornbird,
I am relieved to hear that it is possible that Floyd was never hurt with a broom. His fear of them made me think that is what had happen to them, but if other birds are afraid of them too, then he probably is just naturally afraid of them like your sweet little birds. Thank you Popcornbird.

My neice just reminded me of a joke I found on the Internet, thought I would share it with all the cat lovers, I bet this sounds like your cats too, because it certainly sounded just like Grover to me. I don't know who the author is, they are unknown to me, but anyway here it is.
This sounds just like Grover!!!!!!!!!!

that little kitten in that picture grabed my heart and ran with it . he was such a sweet little baby ! his mother didn't feed her babies well so i took over feeding them boiled eggs and some kitten food . sunny acted like i was mommy ,more than the others did . he would go to sleep in my arms so sweetly while the other little kittens would chose to snuggle their mommy ....... when they were not sleeping ,all the other kittens was always running around the house tearing paper and iterested in everything in the house . sunny was more into being held by me, than to get into things . i kept two of elviras babys and that was sunny and tiffany . and gave the rest to some very nice people . tiffany ate something in the yard that poisoned her when she was a year old and died . it was a sad time .
sunny will be 5yrs old december 23 . sunny has been a very loving little boy . i hope he gets to live a long time . he has met so many close calls with rattle snakes almost died twice ,from bites . the last time he lost some of his hearing ,so he lost his outdoor priviledges . i have added a picture of tiffany and sunny .:)
It was so sad about Tiffany getting into poison. I know that was a painful time for you. Tiffany was with you for a good while before she died? I looked at your attachment and saw that she was a good sized kitty there. Thanks for sharing about Sunny and his feline family. I hope your Sunny will be with you for many years to come.
Willie, Grover has made some of the cutest pictures; what a character! Loved your idea of using the Cat's New Year's Resolution from the internet, I thought it would be perfect for that too when I saw it. Quite often things that would fit here so nicely comes to my email inbox; I know that the other members here at Pet Talk surely enjoyed it.

I like your new signature treyi52 ! Grover sure is a pretty little kitty . Thankyou for the signature you made for me ,you are good at that ! I have not gotten that good on the computer, with the picture thing yet . I have only had one a few months .I have a good friend that helped me through the ruff edges , she even loaned me one to learn on ! I discovered i really loved having a computer , so i bought my self one . I still have not learned a lot yet . I will keep working on that . Maybe someday ........
Anothiona thank you for the kind words , it was very hard to loose Tiffany Sunny's sister . She was a sweet kitty . I was very saddened by her death . :(
Awwww! Sunny was such a cute baby! Makes me want to go right now and find a pretty Siamese baby for myself. I believe my little April would probably feel betrayed if I did that though. I think she likes having me all to myself. LOL:D I loved that Baby pic of Sunny. Have you thought of doing a thread, "When They Were Babies"? Have one for Dog General for your Tiny and JoJo, and one for Cat General for Sunny and Loverboy? That would be neat, then everyone would share all their baby pics with each other!
 :D I meant to tell you that the signature pic looks great! Trayi52, you are doing a great job! I like that Fushia pink backgound in your signature! Just wanted to let you know that. :)
