Binx was sick all night long. It started about 5 pm, with diaherrea, and then from 10pm to 6am, I think we got up 6 times
Poor little boy would come cry to me, rush to the door, run outside, do his thing, then come slowly back inside.

This am, he seemed so lethargic, and I was exhausted, so, I stayed home. He has slept nearly the whole day. At the first sign of it yesterday, I picked up his food. I fed him some boiled beef and rice (about one cup) at 1 pm....and he ate it. He finally drank some water shortly thereafter. I took him on a walk, no poops, and he came right in to sleep again. He let me cover him up with a blanket!! He looks sooo sad. I got some kaopectate down him (1/2 teaspoon at a time!) by shooting it out the dropper into his mouth. What a mess, but, I know some of it 'stuck'. I am sooo sad for him. He is soooo sad for him too!:(

I just can't figure out what it was. There isn't anything in the house that he got into. But, he did chew a rattan chair a little bit? Or, maybe he drank some street water? He is now out back playing in the yard, after sleeping all day long!

Sorry I missed this yesterday...hope you are feeling better Binx-y boy! Enjoy the specialty cooking while you can :)

It is so hard to know why the get cik sometimes...Cincy goes through bouts every 6-8 weeks that she throws up for no apparent reason. It usually only lasts a short time and once she is calmed down she is fine, but it is upsetting anyway.

My mom's dogs all passed around a virus of some sort a few weeks...Oreo had it for a few days, and was getting up in the middle of the night for several nights, and as she was getting alittle better, Snoopy had it for aa day. Then it was Taggerts turn. The boys being younger, kicked it quick, but poor Oreo was under the weather for several days.

Well, Binxie is back to good, pretty much. He got an injection and some pills and eye ointment to take. He developed a secondary eye infection, which is common, according to the Binx's non mouth white coat.

We haven't had any more late night outdoor visits, thank goodness, and he is eating normal food again (thank goodness :D ).

I got a call from Dr. Auvil (mouth vet ) last night (Thursday). He can't get together with this hooman vet(Dr. Lamardi) til Tuesday, and that is just too talk. (UGH). I politely laid it on the line. Binx's condition is getting worse. I am getting concerned about his palet, his tongue mobility, choking. Isn't there someone besides Dr. Lamardi that can help with the sir jury?

So, today, I get a call from the clinic, the same clinic Dr. Auvil is at, and another vet(Dr. Grady) is to see him Saturday am....for consult. I call back, and tell them I am confused, as are they, cause the whole clinic knows I see Dr. A, only. This other vet is out at a seminar until Saturday, and we aren't sure what is going on. But, the lady said she knows we have the right doggie/vet hookup. She said she would call Dr. A and have him call me...and explain.

So, this Saturday we have an appointment with Dr. Grady for consult. I will report in when I know what is going on, and what the game plan is.

We jest heard from Mr. Binx's MawMee...

Dr. Grady, the Boss Doc at the Clinic,
took a big *peek* in Binxster's mouff on Saturday.
He thunk there was "NO Problemo" in the immediate future - nuffin to get reel wurried bout. Binxy *snorez* like a freight train; but he's not gonna have any breathin or chokin problems.

Miz Johanna had a chat wiff the Toofy Doc (Doc Auvil) an got herself "appointed" as the Offishul Seckatairey to write sum letters to both Vets and Hoomin Docs; to try an find SUMbuddie who has seen this problem Binx has wiffa tooferz gettin covered up wiffa gumz...

So MawMee Johanna now has a MISSION ;) - she's makin notes bout what to put inna Introductory Letter to send out to the Vet Skewelz anna Hoomin Doc Skewelz.

As fur da Binx ~

Johanna,
Could you provide a pretty detailed description of what your vets are describing? That would give me something to share with my vet, who is considered an expert in many surgical procedures, and if he doesn't know, he might know someone who does. Either email me or send me a PM, or post it here. Maybe even a sample of the letter you are sending out would help. We'll be seeing him either later this week or next week and I would be glad to get him involved.

Good thinking, Logan. I will post it here, in case anyone can utilize the information. AND, I will be happy to send photographs to anyone.

Binx has a condition called gingyval hyperplasia (sic). It is an uncontrolled growth of the gums, both upper and lower. He has teeth inside these gums, but unable to come out through them. His upper gum prolly has, at a minimum, 4 inches of excess gum. It is not elephantitist (an original thought), and it did not repond to surgical removal. Well, it did, but, it grew right back- in less than 6 weeks, and then some. It is not cancerous, and he has had numerous biopsies.

The periodontist we see (hooman) said the reason it grew back is because the growth is coming from the bone plate, not the gum itself. I think I have some more literature at home, that gives some more details, so, tomorrow, I will update this.

The next procedure is to take a small section, 1-2 inches, and do a flap, and scrape the actual bone...down to the periodontal ligament, and see what that does to the growth.

The periodontist thinks human people may be the focus, as does the vet. This just might be too rare for the run of the mill vet clinic, even with a specialty in dental.

Anyone that has anything, please feel free to contact me!!! Thanks
Johanna

Kind of off the subject - but there are lots of people with gingival hyperplasia. Most of them have it because they take medications for epilepsy, and the medications cause it. Kind of a quick way to tell that people have epilepsy.

Anyways - just a quick factoid.
