Why did you put this in the Dog House? :p

I get REALLY nervous when it comes to presentations also. I had to present a really long one in Sec 3 on Schizophrenia and I was supposed to have it all memorized. I was freaking out until I got up there.

I would suggest practicing in front of a mirror. I also do that and it helps me when I'm up in front of the class because I imagine I'm still in front of that mirror. Just don't try picturing people in their underwears..it doesn't work! ;)

Good luck. :)

One thing I really find that works is to tell the class. Have your notes on note cards, NOT paper (paper shakes along with your hands). When you get to the front, just tell people, "Hi, I'm going to be presenting on *whatever* today. Please bear with me, I'm REALLY nervous but I'm going to do my best." Usually, telling them will help you calm down because once they know, you don't have to be nervous about being nervous (did that make ANY sense!). Also, it tends to help the teacher be a little more lenient, because if s/he knows you are nervous but sees the work you put into your project, you might get extra marks for effort.

Practice, practice, practice. Do your presentation in from of anyone who will listen to you, your parents, dog, cat, stuffed animals, whoever. After awhile it just gets stuck in your head that even if you are nervous you should be ok. I used to get super nervous before audition, but now they are no big deal to me. A few other things I do to help my nerves before audition are I don't drink any caffine or eat sugar that day, I also always eat a banana because it has natural beta blockers which help to calm you down.

i've done this sucessfully....
if you're going to read your presentation, practice at home, outloud. get the final copy you read from triple spaced, and to prevent jumping from your line, bring a ruler, keep it under what you're reading. keep all of these in a zippered folio (so nothing falls out before or after the report is read.) remember to look up every paragraph or two( no one wants to memorize the top of your head) and as my mom says..."hold your head up, shoulders back, and speak up, i can't hear you." and honey, the other kids are freaked out about themself, you'll look like a jewel.

Good luck! I have to do a lot of public speaking in my job. And I'm pretty shy about things like that. It does get easier. I agree about telling folks you're nervous, they tend to be really nice then. I also tend to be really friendly when I answer questions. Even if I think the question is dumb. It's better (when you're nervous) to just answer it and be sweet, than to get snippy. Remember too, if other students have to present they will likely be nervous too.

Good luck!:)

Practice, practice, practice. Usually it is the newness of the situation that makes you so nervous.

Think of what you are going to say. Don't make an exact speech because then if you don't go word for word, you may get nervous. Put some cues on the topic on a notecard. Practice in front of friends and family beforehand. Look above everyone's heads, so it appears like you are looking at them, but the eye contact doesn't disturb you. Lastly, don't be intimidated by them; I am sure they are all nervous about speaking in front of others. Good luck!

One thing I love about speaking to my classmates is the fact that unless its really good...they never remeber it. It never fails! You'll be nervous when you first go up there...but if have a choice...go first!! Have Fun!

I hate presenting in front of the whole class too, unless there's someone else there with me. I just hate presenting alone.

Last year, I had to do a science project and we had to build this chair. I was sooooo nervous at that time, and I was really stressed because we had alot of stuff going on. But I got a partner for that and we did a pretty good job.

Good luck with your project!
