View Full Version : 2 Beloved Beauties need new home!

Two beautiful Himalayan girls need a new home. Suki and Chloe are two-year-old Himmy girls, blue-point and slightly darker. They are the cats of my hairdresser, who got married in May (second marriage for both, older couple), and whose new husband is now terribly allergic to them. Now that cooler weather has arrived, and the windows are shut at night, it has become painfully obvious that the cats need a new home. He cannot take allergy medication because of other medication he is on for high blood pressure (yes, they asked his doctor to be sure.)
Inga, my hairdresser, also says that they are travelling a lot more than she ever did alone, and she and the cats both feel awful every time they go to get boarded. They are healthy cats, both just had check-ups, and I can post a picture of them later tonight. They are NOT declawed. (I could NEVER do that to a kitty, said Inga.)
If anyone knows someone who would give these beloved, goofy girls a good home, please let me know!

Forgot to say they are both spayed. Chloe is a "push-faced" Himalayan, and Suki has a more normal-cat kinda nose.

Me?? I wouldn't even date a man with cat allergies let alone marry him....
but I guess love shows no boundaries. Hope the two sweeties find a home fast and that they adjust well.

It is sad, and Inga is sad to have to make the decision. She feels awful when they travel, though, and they are going to be traveling more and more. She (Inga) never expected to remarry, nor to fall in love again, I think. The human heart surprizes its' owner sometimes, I think! And they didn't know how bad his allergies would turn out to be, or that his other medication makes antihistamines a no-no.
She is NOT going turn them out to "fend on their own," or give them to a shelter where their future would be uncertain. Please do not think ill of her. She wants to find them a loving home. Hearing her imitate her new husbands breathing made me wince - she can imitate a heavy asthmatic wheeze pretty well - enough so that my asthmatic lungs sympathized.
Anyone know anyone in the Boston area who needs a couple kitties?
I'm asking around with other friends, but I figured I ought to at least post it here!

They sound gorgeous. I sure hope they'll be able to find a great loving forever home together. :) Please keep us updated. I'd also love to see their pics. :)

I totally empathise with your hairdresser, what a terrible heart-breaking decision to have to make.
Come-on folk's this is not a decision she is making lightly, it is obvious she love's her cat's and will miss them dearly, and she will not just give them up to anybody.
I am a cat allergy sufferer myself, and I am fortunate to be able to own two cats, but who knows if the day would come that my allergy became so severe , that my life would not be worth living, would I have to give my cats up? maybe so, I hope this never happens, because I would never ever be able to part with them, but one must see both sides of this story and not judge this poor fellow too harshly, we are not living his life.
I wish her the best of luck in finding loving homes for her furbabies.:)

Karen,
Tell Inga to try the Himalayan Rescue in her area. There are TONS of purepred rescue organizations.
Tell her to search on Yahoo under "Purebred Rescue Organizations". It'll ask for the zip code where she's from and it'll give her all the organizations in her area. They even have transport teams set up.
Please let me know how you make out, okay??

Karen,
Try Neady Cats in Newton, Massachusetts. Ask for Marilyn, tell her Tex's mom, Johanna, sent you her way. She might know someone/somthing.
