View Full Version : How some people dress and act
Well, I went to the Pet Store to shop for the Gift Swap, and there were some cockatiels (in a fairly small cage:eek: ) so I stopped to look at them. There was this girl there, and she was around 15, and her pants were pulled down really low, and then she pulled up a thong!  I tried to be nice to her, and I told her that I had a tiel named Nelly. She looked at me, and then looked away. I told her that I loved cockatiels, and that I also had four dogs, and she looked at me, rolled her eyes, and bent over to feed the budgies. Then she looked at me rolled her eyes once more, and walked away! A guy was working there too, standing next to her, and he had heard the whole thing, but he just kinda looked at me and nodded his head, and he also walked away... oh also about the girl, her shirt was really short too... I couldn't believe it!

It disgusts me how some people dress. The superlow pant fad is so uncool. It doesn't flatter hardly anyone's bodies, and I am so sick of practically looking at crack. I agree!!!

I have to disagree a little with Tonya, there are some very cute girls with cute figures who do look nice in the low cut jeans, however I reckon they do look incredibly sexy, and maybe its not a great image to put across.
But Fashion will be Fashion, and the young ones will wear it no matter what, we just have to grin and bear it, or be incredibly jealous that we no longer can wear it sob!!!
However back to the main article on the thread, this young girl's complete lack of manner's, sad to see, but yes there are many just like her out there, but hopefully the kind one's make up for her attitude, that is what it all boils down to HAVING ATTITUDE, in her case A BAD ONE.

And I have to disagree a little with you. :p
I think girls *all girls* in such clothing look absolutely disgusting, no matter what they're size/figure. I can't even bear to look at the girls who dress overly improperly. It makes me gag. Yuck! :o
Dogz, that girl's attitude from the way you describe seems downright rude! Either she was shy *doubt it* or really proud and arrogant.

The attitude was rotten, I see no excuse for it. But clothes are a matter of taste. It may not be your taste, but why do you let it bother you. I don't understand why we care so much about what other people wear, don't wear, how they wear their hair, etc. Wear what you like and what you feel comfortable in. Others should do the same. We should all learn to be less interested in silly things like this.
I am an adult, I can choose to wear whatever I like. I enjoy low rise jeans and think they look pretty cool. But, I'm an adult, not a child, so I suppose that makes it my business.

She does sound like she was really rude. And, some girls do look good like that but also a little sleazy. And I really don't think a 15yr old should be allowed to dress like that. We can thank people like Christina Aguilara for that.

Welcome to my world!! I have to deal with those clothes and those attitudes everyday at school. Unfortunately, most of the time the attitude goes along with that style of dress.

maybe all of us who are pushing 50 (both years and pounds overweight) - need to start wearing these same fashions. It should have people running for cover in no time and we'll see normal looking clothes once again.:D :p

I think it's disgusting when girls let their UNDERwear stick out.
HELLO! UNDER, not outwear.
UNDER.

At my school, it' like a fashion statement to have your thong showing. I for one, would NEVER do that! Lol.
I DO, however, like to wear low cut jeans, and I do wear midriff tops; But I don't go parading around, and I don't act like total snob.

Sorry this made me laugh!:p GREAT point!
2kitties- Yes, I understand what you are saying, but I don't think that 15 yr. old girls should dress like that. That it just my opinion though.:)

I was watching Dr Phil today, whilst over at mum's,it was about mother's having difficulty with their young daughter's, wanting to dress in sexy clothes.
Dr Phil said exactly what I was thinking, you are the parent's , you buy the clothes and you allow them to wear them.
One very pretty girl who was only 11 (same age as my girl) horrified me, the makeup on her eye's was so thick, she wore tarty clothe's and yep the thong, of course it was purple, the short's were white and you could see the top of it, I was digusted to think any parent would let an 11yr old dress that way.
The thing was she had this gorgeous baby innocent face, she even looked younger than my daughter , even though she wasn't.
WHAT IN H*** is wrong with these parent's, these kids are a phaedophiles (sp) dream.
Then off the subject a bit, but there were young girl's with their own websites, the pics were so sexy, oh and the mother said it has done her so much good , built her self esteem etc, I mean PLEASE!!!!!
BTW PCB I respect your opinion, but I would like to ask you, as I believe you are a young person, what you like to dress in and think is cool?
School's should have a dress code, I am apalled to hear girl's in America can wear these kinda clothes to school.

Hey Carole, there were plenty of girls in Wellington schools that dressed like that too. Certainly not just an American thing. ;)

Well I cannot speak for Wellington, but in Hamilton all the high schools have uniforms, outta school well yep the fashion is just the same here as in USA.
Most High Schools in NZ have uniforms soledad, I guess wellington must be an exception then.:)

Wellington High School does not have uniforms and I've seen some real doozies at that place.

Well my opinion stay's the same for their school as well, digusting that the school has no dress code, shame on you Wellington High.

Dogz, I agree with you as well. No, I wouldn't I'd allow my 15 year old to dress provocatively. But, I don't have a 15 year old. I think it is ultimatly up to parents to teach their children things. So, I'll make sure my kids do what I think is best, and I won't spend too much time worrying about other kids and things that I can't control.
I guess my point is that we all spend so much time worrying about other people when we should just do our best to be the people we all want to be.

One thing that really pisses me off is that STUPID
clip of John Ritter telling his T.V. daughter that she can't go out dressed like a sl*t......
not really funny--in real life there would be no conversation...
"you ain't going out looking like that....."
no jokes, no back talk, no kidding....
When I wanted to wear something that was 'in style' and my parents didn't like it, they told me....
"when you move out and can afford your own clothes.....go for it!"
carole,
you are correct....the parents buy the kids clothes and get totally ticked off when the choll sends them home to change....
Do you remember Jon Benet?........right after her death I thought to myself, "holeeee batcave!"
the kid was dressed as a TART, was dancing around and singing songs that were totally inappropriate
for a 5-6 year old to do.......
lololol, Sexy kid pics on the web........
and you wonder why your kids end up meeting freaks on the internet..
Later, I felt guilty for thinking that the kid looked like a hooker.........until i heard a woman I worked with go off and say that she was dressed like a streetwalker (insert slang term there)...
the low cut jeans look is funny on kids, but i think it's absolutely hilarious on grown up women.........

Excellent points Richard. Yes, the parents get ticked off when we call and have to bring different clothes (although, usually we make them put their gym clothes on....eeewwww a fate worse than death! lol ;) ) and most of the time the parents are dressed the same sleazy way....hmmmm.....the apple doesn't fall far from the tree? I like to send the boys down who have their pants around their ankles and the aide in Student Services puts duct tape around the hips of the pants to hold up them up....it's hysterical to watch!!
I'm the same way Richard, if my parents didn't want me wearing something, it didn't get worn. And they decided what I would wear too since they were buying. Now, I got to choose, but if they didn't think it was appropriate, it didn't get bought! lol Unfortunately, too many parents today are either afraid of their kids or want to be their best buddy and that just doesn't get it.

That's a good point also mugsy. I know how some moms just want to be their kid's best friend, and be all goody-good with their childrens friends. I personally think that mothers should be mothers- if you know what I am saying. Of course the parents have to do something with the way some kids dress.

Buying tops for my 12-year-old daughter is a problem - it is increasingly difficult to find tops that aren't too baggy but still long enough to cover her middle. The stores here (granted, small town in rural Kansas) just don't carry many tops that fit properly.
Yes, I buy the clothes and can veto anything inappropriate, but I am limited by what the stores carry. Believe me, I've complained to Sears, JCPenney and Old Navy. I've also complained at shoe stores about not carrying flat dress shoes in children's sizes (why anyone would put high heels on a six year old for anything other than a joke, I'm not sure).
But when my 17yo daughter is telling the 12yo that she doesn't meet school dress code, because her middle is showing, I think I might be getting through to both of them.

This is also true. There really isn't much to choose from.

LOL I remember I always had the opposite problem with my mom. I have always prefered wearing mens shorts because they are longer. It seems that all the shorts that are made for girls are so short! Now I'm not saying that my mom wanted me to dress sexy or anything like that just a little more feminine. But I hate how girls short are always so short, I like my shorts to be slighly above the knee anything shorter than that I constantly have to tug on them when I sit down because I feel like everything is showing. But I remember my sister wearing "sexy" clothes when she was younger however now they would be considered modest clothing and my father would make her change and say she couldn't leave the house if she didn't change. We weren't allowed to wear a tank top unless we had another shirt on top of it.

:D lol See, that exactly what I mean. Wear what is comfortable for you. I could honestly care less if you wear a leather thong or borrow some undies from my great grandma. It isn't my business. Now, if you let them stick out of your pants, well I guess then you're making them my business- hee hee;)
Personally, I find thongs to be very comfortable and they eliminate panty lines which I find very very disgusting. BUT, my underwear don't show so nobody knows what I'm sporting.

Have you tried a second hand store, like Value Village? When you go to one store, chances are that the clothes they make are very alike, to assert that "these are OUR clothes that WE make." When you go to a second hand store, there are so many different types of clothes from different stores, that you're likely to find a variety and something that looks good. :)

Well I don't know about else where but in this family it's just plain dangerous to have any underwear showing cuz someone will grab ahold and pull up. In the case of thongs, they're already in wedgie position so I guess the only other place for them to go would be in! :p
