True, but it's still an educated guess. I never pick a dog that doesn't look a thing like what they are listed as. In my opinion it should look relatively like what it's supposed to be.

I don't know what the national dog of france is, but, it looks like poodle/pekingnese.....poodle face, I think. maybe shih tzu or lhasa body? tibetan spaniel, someone else said....all i can see for sure though is the poodle face. I'm probably wrong, though, I stink at guessing breeds. unless it's purebred. :)

I think this game should be played with mutts we actually are sure of the combination on so I'm using my first dog, Swiper. The last picture's just for fun but it IS him:eek:

I was going to adopt (what I thought was) a Canaan Dog/Border Collie mix once..but someone else got him :( Was it an accidental breeding or on purpose? I met someone who rescued a Canaan dog (by the name of Chaos) from a Shelter. Since he's a rescue, they aren't 100% sure but everything about him says Canaan dog and the shelter labelled him that as well. Pretty crazy eh?

I did meet the parents (isn't that a movie? :p ) The crossing of the 2 wasn't planned. Both Kelpies and Canaans were raised at the same place and it was an accident that resulted in the greatest dog I've ever known:D The Canaan was black and white patched and the Kelpie was black as well. Everyone that meets this dog, first comments on how DARK he is, and I don't blame them :)
There WERE 2 other pups born.. they are somewhere out there in the world :D

How cool!!! Sounds like he was a great dog!! A wonderful combination as well ^_^ Gotta love 'em herding dogs!! :D

And Ash - That makes sense.. sometimes there are like, purebred dogs (like *cough*Kaedyn and Sesh) that end up in shelters.. I guess some people get a dog and can't handle it.. since a Canaan Dog is part of the herding group, like maybe someone got it and didn't realize how much work a herding dog is, or maybe it got lost and the owners never found it.. you never know.. ;)

I got Dillon as a GSD mix at Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue in January (http://caninerescue.org/, they have lots of great dogs and some cats too). He's calm and quiet and eager to please. Very loveable, curls up with me on the couch every night. Easy to train.

I also have 4 cats Dillon loves to chase. We've been working on that since I got him. I still have a leash on him much of the time but just as a precaution. When he does catch up with a cat he doesn't seem to know what to do but it doesn't stop him the next time.

I thought Dillon looked kind of like Simby too. He's a little smaller, I think but similar facial features.
