I'm moving from Phoenix, AZ to Colorado Springs, CO. Does anyone have suggestions as to how to transport 4 cats in the car? I've never travelled with cats in the car and the trip is 13 hours straight through. Help!

I've never tried it before but my suggestion is DRUGS.:D

My sister moved from East TN to Houston and drove with her dog and two cats. When they stopped for dinner in Ark. she let the cats out of their kennels to walk around in the car and her semi-feral cat escaped. They never found her. Please be careful and don't let that happen to you.

Best of luck with the move.

I think Jazz may be right. I don't know about your cats, but just a trip across town is traumatic for mine. Cats tend to stress easier and hold grudges a little more then dogs. I would talk to the vet about possibly giving them some sort of relaxer.

For the human or the cat? :D LOL!

Yep, mine get stressed during a 15 min. car ride to the vet's. Good luck!

When we moved up here, my parents kept Mimi for me for a month or so because Helen and I were forced to live in a hotel until our house became available. For their peace of mind and mine, we asked their vet to give her a tranquilizer before they drove her up. She was pitiful and woozy as she awoke, but she traveled safely and readjusted in no time.

I would talk with your vet about it. I'm sure that he/she will have some good suggestions for you.

p.s. I drug my pets on the 4th of July, and they all seem to come out of it ok.

*Except Roxy was a bit agressive the next day. I think she was hungover.
