Cubby my only cat which is a 2 year old male fixed cat. Is trying to perform the manly duties. He use to attack my feet under the blankets and play, but now he is all about catching them and trying to hump them. Or he use to chase my hands under the blankets and play, but again it is all about trying to hump them now. Now when I go to bed at night he will follow me in the bedroom like always. As soon as I lift up the blankets to get my self covered up he goes into this humping mood. I have no clue why he keeps trying to do this. I tell him no very stern, I will put my finger right up close to his face and tell him now, I have sparyed him with a water bottle, and I have also put him on the floor and told him NO! But he wont stop there. He will get back on the bed and become very aggressive. The other night he lunged at my face because he was tired of being told NO and being put on the floor and being sprayed. I can't even go to bed with out fighting with him to stop.

I am at my wits ends with this. I called the vet more than a few times and told them about this. All the cats we had while I was growing up they never did this if they were fixed. But they were also indoor outdoor cats. I'm not sure if he is just going through this stage of his life or what. But it has to stop soon. I called the vet the did the operation on him to get him fixed, thinking maybe they didn't do something correct. But they said that there was nothing wrong that some male cats will do this.

Does any one have any advice to make him stop tryign to do this. He has also been trying to do this to my husband the last few nights. And I know how my husband is, he will not put up with an animal that does this, and he will want to get rid of him. I love my cat more than anything but this behavior needs to stop. And stop soon.

Also I can't lock him out of the bedroom, that is where is food is. He will only eat when I am in the room with him. He has food and water in the kitchen as well but he will not eat or drink out of them unless I am in there along with his food and water in the bedroom.

Any advice would be very appreciated. Sorry this is so long, I am just at my wit ends with this problem.

Also one more question, he goes to the vet in a few weeks to get his shots again. Should I have the vet check and make sure that his neuter operation was done correctly? The vet I use to go to told me they didn't like his attitude so I switched to a vet that is closer (more expensive) but very friendly and very willing to help in any way they can.

Update already. I called my new vet and they told me to call the vet that did the operation and have them fax his operation records to them. As soon as I can get in contact with the old vet I will have them do that.

My new vet said that it sounds like the old vet messed up the operation  She said that it sounds like they didn't close off the veins very well or at all.

So I will have to call and make an appointment after they get his records and get him in and refixed!

I hope this problem will end there.

Katie, I'm so sorry to hear about Cubby's behavioral problem. I have 4 male cats and they're all neutered and have never done the humping thing before. If your former vet messed up Cubby's neutering, then you should at least try to get your money back and possibly report him/her to the better business bureau. Good luck and please keep us updated. Poor Cubby.

The thing that really makes me mad is, it was something as simple as neutering. And it was one of the owner of the vet who did the operation! My mother in law will not go to any other vet besides that one, which is fine. She can do what she wants with her dog. But I tried her vet until they told me Cubby has a very bad attitude. I'm sorry but I know my cat has an attitude problem but, when you wake a cat up with a needle near his behind what do you expect them to do? Wake up and start purring? I don't think so. Then they also told me because he tried to bite them when they woke him up with a shot that next time they see him before they touch him or do any kind of work on him they will mussel him. I'm sorry but this vet was kind of an older women who has been doing this for a very long time. I would think if a dog was unhandlleable (not sure if thats a word or not. If it's not it is now!) then they would mussel him. Would they wake a sleeping dog up with a shot in his rear end? I doubt it.

Sorry still ranting about them.

Sounds like an anti-animal lover vet there, all animals are scared when they go to the vet and its their job to comfort them and give extra tlc. I would defo change vets sounds like he's got the attitude problem not poor Cubby !!!

Cubby does have an attitude problem towards people besides me and my husband and he only tolerates my husband. Lol. I have changed vets. Every is telling me to take him back to the other vet (the one that doesn't like him) and have them re-do it becasue they should do it for free. I have told all of them I don't care about the 50$ I would rather take him to a vet that I know and trust. When I took him to the new vet they were all over him petting him telling him he was such a good boy and kissing him, and stuff like that. When they took the needles out he never once tried to bite them, BECAUSE THEY WERE NICE TO HIM!

P.S. I never plan on returning to that vet again!

My cats are the same, they are very loving to us but extremely cautious of others. When Jock (RIP Baby) was in the vets recently, because the staff were so friendly and were brushing him and giving out loads of tlc he was letting them take blood without sedation and wasn't bothering much when they gave him tabs or injections. Just shows what a kind voice and that little extra effort can achieve !!:)

Anyway, sounds as though the new vet was a wise decision and Cubby will receive better treatment, poor wee soul !!
