Dear Best Friends Network Member ~ There's a darling little Corgie named Lily in Deep River, CT who's in need of a home. Carol, who does Corgie rescue, sent the attached pictures and tells the following story about Lily:
She appears to be about ten or eleven months old and has a spay scar. She was found in the city of Middletown with a heavy grade choke chain on her neck that had to be removed with bolt cutters.
She is exceedingly smart...sits, shakes, great on a leash, patient when you walk...you stop and she'll sit and wait. She's housebroken, and goes willingly into her crate...when she first came to me she didn't appear to know about a crate and about had a heart attack going into it. She now just jumps in when she wants to nap or if she knows that it's time to eat.
She wants to be a lap puppy. She's very vocal, which might have been misconstrued at times to be a growl. She becomes a little more relaxed every day, though she has been very confused somewhere along the line, and will snarl and become fearful, and will snap if completely confused. These occasions are getting fewer and farther between, as she shares her toys and lets the little puppy in the picture with her (see attached) take a bone or toy right out of her mouth.
I don't think at this point that she is ready for the unpredictability of children, but needs someone that has dog savvy and understands that she just needs to know the perimeters of her behavior...what is acceptable and what is not! I just think that this little lady deserves another chance at being the dynamite dog that she would like to be!
If you know anyone who loves Corgies and might like to give Lily her chance, please contact Carol directly at 860-526-3248 or email her at [email protected]. OK to cross-post.
Many thanks to all of you who work so hard for the animals!
