Tom and our girls along with Doug and Wilson were on a long walk in the woods. A couple miles in,.... they found her. I won't go into detail, it isn't pretty. We just called a vet, and over the phone they said she sounded at least 10 months old and in heat. Tom is going to give her a bath, we just cleaned her ears. She ate a good breakfast. And we will let her nap and give her some lunch. She is not skinny, but that doesn't mean she wasn't starving. Tom thinks she is about 30 pounds.
At this point we have no idea where she will live. We can't take her in but will find a good forever home for the little girl. While she is getting a bath I need to run to the pet store and get some doggie diapers.
Why couldn't we have found her last wk end as we were on vacation all last wk. or last month as Wilson's Mom was home for several wks.
Well, we found her today, so today she is being taken care of. Please post any ideas that you may have for us.

She looks like a Sheba! My first-ever dog Sheba was a stray Shepherd mix, black and tan with those goofy tan spots for eyebrows! Your girl is littler, and the cute floppy ears are so sweet (my Sheba had stand-up ears), thank goodness you found her, hopefully before she got pregnant. A nice bath, flea powder and a collar ... then to the vet for a check-up ...
If I knew any dog-lovers out your way, I'd call 'em, but as I don't, try GSD rescue? She is small, but looks very Shepherd-ish to me! What part of Washington state are you in/near?

Awww!! She is gorgeous.
Why not ask around the park to see if anyone is missing a dog? Don't give specifics because anyone could say "yeah that's my dog", just because they want her. Make them tell you the specifics. If no one claims her, then maybe offer to one of your friends in the park to keep her. If not, people you know that can take care of her.

We live in auburn, just south of Seattle. They found her east of here on Indian Reservation Land, way out in the woods. Some one left her there.
She has never been in a bath tub tom said. Nor has she been on a leash, probably never even been indoors and probably is not potty trained. but she sure is cute and nice, for her first day anyway.

Oh no :( Did you check the paper for any "lost dog" ads? What about putting a "found dog" ad in your local paper? I don't know about your's, but I know the Everett Herald runs found pet ads for free. She sure is a cutie :) Any "lost dog" signs in the neighborhood?? Poor girl... I hope someone is looking for her. I'll let you know if I can think of anything else. Good luck with her :(

This is so sad... I wish I could take her, but I just don't know... I've only had Ruby for a little over a year, the thought of another dog has crossed my mind, but I was always thinking about a smaller one. How much bigger do you think she'll get? 30lbs @ 10 months... probably not too much bigger, but I just don't know  I showed this thread to my parents... I don't know how they'd feel about another dog. We don't have a huge yard, it's big enough for Ruby, but I don't know about 2 dogs. Plus, we rent, and our landlord origionally didn't even want us having one dog. Oh that poor dog... :( Please keep me posted. We need to find this girl a home!

What a sweetie!!! And you and Tom are angels for taking her in and caring for her so!!:) You've gotten lots of great suggestions already. It does sound like she may have been "dumped!" But, it couldn't hurt to try a "Dog Found" posting. She looks so much like K9Karen's Logan and Lizbud's Smokey!:) Sorry I don't know anyone out your way. You might try placing a "classified ad" in Petfinder. How long do you think you can foster her???

They dressed me up in this pink thing are going to walk me to the pet store across the street to buy me diapers. They say I am in heat and need protection from getting the carpet a little messy. I do look cute in pink, but really, diapers.
This pink thing is brand new, it's like they were waiting for me.....

shes adorable!!!!!!! Id take her if I could! shes prob rottie/GSD mix. You can see the rottie in her face (& colouring obviously). you know, my friend's sister is looking for a large protective breed, preferably GSD or a mix of, I can show her this thread. She has a st bernard mix now, and they want a large dog for him, so she might be too small, and I dont know if shes looking for pure shepherd or not, but I will definatly show this thread to them. They live in renton. Ill let you know if they are interested or not.
Oh, and how tall is she? Im guessing since shes a mix of 2 larger breeds (although how knows what else might be in her) she prob has another, at least, 6 months of growing to do, & she will prob end up getting more muscular too, Im guessing she'll prob end up being at least 50 lbs.

so off to Pets Mart for doggie pants. I road in the back seat with her so she wouldn't be scared. She slept in my lap.

Then off to the vet, Pets Mart can not scan for chips. They don't insert them nor do they have any of the equipment to do it:eek: We found a sunday vet in Sumner, south of us. The gave her a good looking at and shaved the wounds and said a lot of soap and water to clean them and a bit of hydrogen peroxide, not much because it is too drying and NOT to use neosporin because it can trap the infection in if there is any.
Then home to put on the "PANTIES" oh no...

At the risk of sounding arrogant, lol! I do know a lot about dog breeds, (its a hobby of mine! lol) and I definately think shes rottie mix. Her face is very much rot, and shes got that bulky build starting.
Dobes are very tall and lean and have a very long muzzle, they are pretty much the opposite build of rotties. :) But they do both come black and tan & are fairly popular breeds. Actually Rotties are in the top 10 breeds in the U.S. if I remember correctly.. Im thinking they are 8th.. But I could be wrong. lol This according to AKC registration that is.
And your right Katz, its highly unlikely that shes a mix of that breed, its very rare and is probably only found in its country of origin. It is very possible however, that that breed might have Rottie as one of the breeds that were used to make it, or a similar breed. Rotties are an old breed, and I *think* they were used to make the Doberman! Also, I doubt anyone that would have a rare breed like that in the U.S. would be careless with it because they probably spent a lot of money to get it! hehe :)
"same lines of separation from tan to black and everything!"
Yeah, thats just because thats what the black and tan colouring looks like though. Its the same on all black & tan coloured dogs.
And a min pin is WAY too tiny to breed with a large breed!
BUT I supposed theres really no way to be 100% sure!! :) I could be wrong! And Im not trying to sound like "NOPE youre ALL wrong! And Im right!" LOL But personally I think all the signs point to Rottie; colouring, build, features, and popularity. :D
But despite all that, we can all agree she certainly is ADORABLE!! She just looks so content in this picture:

yeah! those ears sure make her look like a pit bull! :) so cute!! and hey, pits are quite a bit smaller than rotties so maybe thats where she gets her smaller size. they are very similar in build too. AND pit bulls are a very popular breed. :) good call. hahahaha

Actually, it's quite possible. The male must be the small breed because the female must obviously give birth and larger pups would kill her. But it's very possible for a small male and a large female to breed, and happens all the time. Working in rescue I see some VERY unusual combos! :)
One thing I've definitely learned is that you can't always tell by their looks what breeds they're mixed with. Especially if their ancestors were mixed breeds also. In other words, they may not look anything like their parents, but more like their grandparents.

We are just getting ready to take all 3 on a walk. Hopefully she will stick close to us. She is feeling a little better now and really does need a run. We had to return to work yesterday, but Tom only stayed part of his shift and came home to check on them. She did poop in the room, but on the rug. she has wokd Tom up 2 nights in a row to go potty so she is potty trained. She couldn't help it, she still has the runs, but it is getting better. Tom has been sleeping on Ashlee's bed, YES, on the floor out in their room with 'the new girl' and Nina. Ashlee has slept IN my bed with me. I don't want to upset Kelcee with 'the new girl' sleeping in our room. She's maybe at the end of her heat cycle , not sure. OK, I'd better get ready for the walk, will take pic's and post again later. We can not keep her, I sure hope we can find a good home for her.

The walk went VERY well. She was off leash the whole time and never left us. She is so nice. Ashlee and Nina ran and played, but she stayed with us. On the way back she played with them a bit.

She really likes Tom.

Samantha you are adorable. "The new girl" would love to play with you and be your sissy;)
We don't know how long we can keep her. As I said before we live right across the street from our moble home park managers and 2 animals under 25 pounds is the limit. So we are over by far already. Tom is out now checking a few things and one co worker wants to meet her, maybe this week end. So we will just play it day by day.

I tried everyone I know, my elder siblings agree she looks very much like a smaller version of our first dog, Sheba - have you given her a name yet? I keep think of her as Sheba Jr.! ;) Unfortunately, the only person I know near Seattle is a widow who has a Jack Russell already (who doesn't share well with other creatures - Mary belongs to him and him alone!!) which is enough dog for her. She's not even that nearby (she's way North of Seattle) but she's at least in the same state, which we aren't.
Oh, I hope she gets a very good home, such a sweetheart!

Well, she is getting a bit more bold.....I got home from work last night and planned to sit down and watch the end of the mariner game....while I went back to my truck to bring my briefcase in, she jumped the baby gate like a pro, went straight to the cat food, which is up on a table in the computer room, dragged it down along with everything else, tipped over the water bowl in the process, when I came in she dashed back to nina's crate, leaving me to clean up a mixture of water and catfood and wet carpet:rolleyes: ........did NOT see the end of the game, oh well they stink lately anyway(although they did win:cool: ).....
today at the park she ran with ashlee, ash turned on the afterburners and left her sprawled in the grass, oh well she will learn.....
she went all night without going outside, pretty good girl.....tom

I think we should too, but we can't. Unless we win the lotto and move. As I said before we live in a moble home park , right across the street from the managers. The limit is 2 pets under 25 pounds. (they don't really want any dogs or pets or kids in here, if they could break the law and ban it all they would) Neither of our dogs are under 25 pounds. Plus we hide Kelcee, since she is an indoor cat. Although this morn she was in the living room window in the sun.
What does anyone know about the places that call them selves "low cost spay and neuter"? Our vet is $95. for spay $17 & $14 for shots. $35. more if they are in heat. (which we are waiting till she is finished with heat to do it) $40. more for blood work. The low cost lace is $60 for spay and I won't know till I go there tomorrow if they do shots, but I would guess they do.
Any input, anyone ???

Have you talked to PAWS or the Humane Society? I think I remember hearing something about them doing low-cost spays/neuters for abandoned animals. I may be wrong, but it could be worth looking into.
