I posted last week that I found poo in the kitty room. They were rather large. I thought that maybe it was just an accident, that maybe the boxes weren't clean enough (even though I remove the poo both in the a.m. and the p.m. and use Feline Pine).
Well, it happened again twice!! I just scooped the boxes a little while before it happened. Near the same spot. Fortunately it's being confined to the litterbox room. I've cleaned the carpet with Woolite Pet Stain Cleaner and then sprayed it with Nok-Out to get rid of any smell it might have left.
The last time it happened, I saw Fawnie go into the litterbox and figured, okay, it's not her. But later on, there was the pile on the floor. I'm not POSITIVE it's her. It could be any one of them. But I think the bigger the cat, the bigger the poops, right??
Do I go back to the scoopable granular litter??? I have never had this happen to me before.
Any suggestions?? I've been using Feline Pine for a couple of months now and never had a problem. I just want to do what's best so this kind of thing stops.
I'd appreciate your feedback.

I know that when I was using the feline pine in one litterbox and the scoopable litter in the other litterbox, that my cats preffered the scoopable litter. Maybe one of your cats also prefers the scoopable litter or maybe they just think it's not clean enough for them.
I think you should try putting some scoopable litter in some of the litterboxes and continue using the feline pine in the rest and see what happens. Good luck. I sure hope it's not a behavioral or health problem.

Is the poo far away from the litter box, or near? If near maybe her aim is real good. We have a couple that miss the litter box even though they're in it.

KAK,
I noticed that when I first began the transition from clumping to Feline Pine (I had half the boxes filled with FP and half with their usual clumping) that MOST of their business was done in the boxes that contained the clumping.
K&L,
It's far enough away to know that it's not an aiming problem.
I've come to the conclusion that they just don't like the Feline Pine.
As much as I like the FP for my OWN convenience, I'm going back to the Premium Scoopable Cat litter. I used to get 50 lb. bags for $10 at the feed store. I have to carry the darn bag up a steep flight of stairs, that's one of the reasons why I changed. But I do what is best for my cats. So I'll deal with it. I'm getting a bag today after I'm finished at the shelter.
   ;)

My guess would be to change the litter back to your original brand or give the option of having two litter boxes. Ugh. Cats.

SAS,
I went and bought the scoopable litter I used before I switched for FP.
The culprit is Doogie!!! Before I could even get the first box's lid on filled with the scoopable, I walked in the room and there he was with a big pile of poo, making the motion like he was trying to cover it.
At least I now know who it is. Let's hope this litter will do the trick. I have one box for each cat, so that isn't the problem.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed (as I slug down a glass of wine).
:p  :D

Donna, I'm a little late here, but I'd just like to say Fister also prefers the clumping litter. It may be expensive - and heavy, but it's in our own interset and of course our cats.
Don't ruin your back! ;)

Randi,
It WAS the litter. I have 8 cat boxes. I put the clumping litter in 6 or the 8 and left FP in 2 of them. So far no more accidents. Everyone seems happy.
As far my back...too late. My lower back is hurting. I made a wrong move and twisted it. Oh well, I'll just soak in the tub and take some Motrin.
I vacuumed the whole room and scrubbed the area where the poo was with Woolite Pet Stain again, just to be on the safe side. I'm going to get another bag of scoopable and do the other two boxes and that'll be the end of that.
I'm glad I found out who it was. It was not know that was driving me crazy.
Thanks for your input everyone! You're the best!!

Sorry to hear the furkids don't like the Feline Pine. :(
Zam and Logan love it! (Thanks goodness). :)
Hopefully there will be no more accidents.
