We have had Dale for about a month and half (which isnt that long) and he isnt potty trained yet...Swissies are known to take a while...but anyway, he always goes when i ask him to outside...but today i was in the other room and i heard him whining (this is how he usually tells me)...he was at the back door, so i opened it and he went out and went potty!! Yeah progress!! :) I know it takes time, but each little thing is progress! :) Anyone who has ever potty trained a puppy will understand my excitement! Keep up the good work Dale!
So how long did it take you to potty train your puppy...i know different breeds/personalities take longer than others...but just curious.

Yayyy good boy Dale!:D
Kai took a very long time. He wasn't fully reliable in the house until about 9 months:eek: We've been accident free for 4 months now (not including the time he *marked* the used chair we bought:rolleyes:)

Yay Dale! :D
It took Daisy about a day to learn, and Molly got the hang of it a few days after we brought her home. :)

Yay Dale!!!
I can understand your excitement!!!!
Two of my dogs came to me housebroken, but Riley was just a baby. He caught on pretty quick though--when he needs to go out, he jumps the gate in the entryway to stand at the front door---he hasn't quite figured out yet that they go out back, silly pup:)

With Roxey it took a few months and probably about the same for Angus (can't remember, it's been too long:o )
But Huney never did potty in the house:D
Good boy Dale!
We had Prince for about a month, and we had bells on our door, so then before we brought him outside, we would ring the bells. After a little bit, Prince rang the bells on is own! He still rings the bells when he has to (or wants to;)) go outside.:D

I THOUGHT Teddy was potty trained until today. He's a ten month old pomeranian. I took him outside to go to the bathroom, then let him in the house...I don't know what got into him, but he walked around the computer room for like 5 minutes marking his territory on everything before I caught him!

We are all very proud of you.

Darlin is like Kai! I've just learned to rely on her for it. She's a little over 9 months now, and just learned on around her birthday!
But, good boy, Dale!!!!! :D

Good boy, Dale! I still make a big deal over Hannah when I see her doing her business outside. She was one of those who took forever.

If I could jump in the air and click my heels, I would! You GO Dale! What a GOOD boy! Lots of "cookies" for you!!! Cody was 4wks when I got him, and if I remember, it only took a month to recognize his body language. I had taken vacation time so I took him out every 2 hrs non stop (exhuasting) and he never ever did a boo-boo in the house. Logan only peed 2x in the first week, but of course it was excitement and nerves. Compared to Cody, though, Klo only pees about 3x a day and poops once so it's really easy. She prefers outties during a walk and not in "her" yard so I'm trying to break her of that. She's not food orientated like Cody, so the promise of a cookie etc, doesn't work. She just wants to got out and chase all the critters!!!

Keegan had the poop thing down by Christmas. I got her around the 11th of November. But it took her until Feb to figger out the pee thing.
She had a relapse when she was spayed. And once last summer b/c she turned a year old. Now it is no problem!!
Good for Dale!! :)

WAY TO GO, DALE!!!
Katie was very easy to potty train. We brought her home when she was 12 weeks old and I would say it took about a week maybe 2 at the most. She only had about 3 or 4 "accidents" in the house and mostly thats just because we weren't paying attention to her signs. She does not woof or whine at the door when she has to go out. She walks back through the kitchen and stands and looks back at us and if we don't catch on to that then she comes back to the living room and stands and stares at us for a bit(sometimes she even grabs my wrist) and then heads back again. I have to add that I have been a stay at home doggie mom since we have brought her home (she is 5 months now) and I was always asking if she had to go potty and taking her outside.

Bella also learned the "poop thing" way before the the "pee thing." Then, of course, we went through a time even after that where she would do little "excitement pees" when people would come visit. :o Ripley came to me housebroken, with only an accident or two in the first couple of days as he was learning where the doors, etc. were. :p
