please help ID the breed of my dog

This is my best buddy, Zak.

My family adopted him from an elderly lady who had him for the first 1.5 years of his life. Our vet thinks he is part Australian Cattle Dog but we have no idea what other part(s) he might be.

Does anybody have any ideas?

He socializes very well with other dogs, loves his family, is not suspicious of strangers, gets along with everybody.

This is just a guess, but he reminds me of a Clumber Spaniel. It's a fairly uncommon breed so maybe this mix is unlikely. But this mix would account for the shaggier than an ACD coat, thicker body type and the droppy face. He looks like a sweetie! Thanks for sharing Zak with all of us! :D

if you ask me he looks mostly cattle dog, a red one but still mostly cattle dog. Could be the extra weight that he's carrying around making him seem like he has more breeds in him.

He looks mostly ACD....I do see the possibility of other breeds.....mostly just the thicker coat. The tail looks kind of husky-ish but I'm not sure about anything else. He's cute!

Oh I'm sorry....he's 13 now. :) But we've spent the past 13 years trying to figure out what the heck he is! :D

Maybe some Cattle dog and Akita mix?? im not sure but he is a darn CUTIE!!!

Mayby Akita, Golden ret or GSD.. But the Cattle most be over 80% in the dog

He looks almost purebred to me...but his fur is a bit more shaggy than you might see on an ACD. If he really isn't pure, then I'd say he might have some akita in him.

He looks all ACD to me. Our neighbors have one and he looks identical to Brandy to me, except for color.
