My dog gets sick everytime I take her in the car. I was told that I could give her dramamine. I tried that and she still got sick. We camp quite often and like to take her along but if she gets sick all the time, I don't know if we should. If anyone has any ideas, let me know. Thanks:)

I was watching a show not too long ago, and the man said that it could be because the dog's had bad experiences in the car. The dog gets in the car, goes to this strange place, gets a needle then goes back home...so of course, the dog's gonna think that the car's a bad thing. He solved the problem by having the owner feed their dog in the car at everymeal then spending a few minutes in there every day...then gradually working up to driving around the block.
I used to have a dog that got sick/through up every time
she went for a car ride.
She never was cured, but I she got to the point she
could take a car ride for 30 minutes before getting
sick.
I would start out slow with her, just
take her around the block and slowly work up
to 10 minute rides etc. Once she is able to take
the 10 minute rides add another 10 minutes and see what happens.
Good luck.

How long before the ride did you give the dog the Dramamine? For humans you are supposed to take it about an hour before the event that makes you motion sick. If you gave it to the dog 5 minutes before it got in the car, it wouldn't have any effect

I gave the dog the dramamine at least an hour before the ride, probably longer. Last time she went for a ride she did fine now this time we got about a block from home and she threw up. The ride was much shorter this time.

Both of mine got car sick at first, but the more rides we went on, the better they got, Sierra I have NO prob with. Buddy...I just have to watch that he doesn't eat before we go for a ride, and he's fine!

Yeah, I was going to mention not feeding them before. And increasing time slowly.
