well our dog club was all ready for holding our first flyball competition today (sunday 24th) and we were all excited about it

but last night it started to rain, not just drizzle but a full on downpour :( and did not stop all night our flyball co-ordinator turned up our training grounds this morning (6:15am) to check out the condition of the grounds and it was Soooo muddy and slippery

danielle waited around untill we all arrived at 7am and had a quick meeting but in the end all the officials (judges,Aus flyball association president etc) decided that we had to cancel not postpaone but cancel all together because it would have been to dangerous for the dogs and handlers (who cares about the handlers)

the awful thing about it all was we had teams travel from interstate (up to 8 hours drive) who came to our S%^&Pot town for a day of racing and pretty much had to turn around and head home again:( and the look on the dogs faces when they did not get to race was a sad sight they were all so hyped up about it and did not understand why there was no Flyball and why they had to go home *poor pups*

well i just had to get all that out it has been bugging me all day

in the end the weather got even worse as the day went on, with flooding etc *sighs*
oh well

I'm so sorry! How disappointing:( I feel especially sorry for those who traveled so far for the event. Any chance of salvaging the day, maybe having a just a fun day get together for the doggies and families at a dog park??

yes it was very disapointing :(

everyone has gone home one team was going to stay another night and go sight seeing lol,oh and there are too many fights between the dogs from other teams (not all of the dogs just few who like to start fights)

but we will all catch up in 2 weeks for a comp in Adelaide (7 hour drive) and the organisers of that comp think it will probably rain also but we will be under cover :)

i did get to catch up with some of my canine friends who i have not seen for a while so that was good i guess :)

What a shame you were rained out ........... poor pups and the travellers.

BUT - we need the rain ...... would be nice to rain in the week while we work, and NOT on the weekend when there are flyball comps, doggies walks, etc!!!

the tourny was outside???? all tournys anywhere around here are indoors we find a large facility, like a curling rink, its perfect and impossable to be rained out:) and we can have tournys in the winter. do you guys run on grass? is'nt that hard on the dogs feet?? our flyball matts are tuffspun they soften the blow to the shoulders and feet when they run.
