We took these tonight. This boy is a sweetie, for sure! Of course, I have never met one I didn't love. He is special, though. 8 years old, approximately, and was brought into rescue after being captured by Animal Control. He was a stray. He is matted and smells bad, but he is heartworm negative, has been neutered and is now up to date on his shots. He is thin, but I world renowned for being able to fatten up dogs and people. He has gone nose to nose with both cats. Absolutely no problems. You can see in the pictures that he and the other dogs are fine, as well as the children. We'll be fostering him until he finds his forever home. I don't think it will take long. :( :)
Lying in the hallway. He loves the Kong!

Zipper, I recognize a happy GR when I see one and that smile tells the world that you realize you've landed in a good place. It also appears that you are doing a good job of wriggling your way into everybody's hearts as well as the family's activities. I'd say this is going to be a real test of whether the Mother of Many can give up a marvelous foster furkid.
P.S. Zipper the foster aunties want to thank you for giving us a peek at the decorating at the Southern Estate. Like Auntie Karen, Auntie Rachel loves it!!!!!!

Anna you can say that again! Logan he is just a dream. Some family is going to be very fortunate one of these days. His story sounds like my Ripley a little. Brought in as a stray..... :( I bet that somewhere out there someone is missing this handsome boy, but better days are ahead for him now. He's off to a terrific start already, getting to spend some time with the beautiful golden trio, Honey, Lily and Murphy. :)

He is a happy boy! It is amazing the ability of these dogs to adjust beautifully.
The first night, he was a bit restless, but he and Lilly settled down very nicely in the kitchen (behind the gates) after I gave up on having him in the bedroom, where all three of ours sleep. But the last two nights, he has gotten very comfy on the floor beside Scott's side of the bed. Do you think he is trying to butter up Daddy??? ;)
My biggest concern, to be very honest, is how the children will handle his going away eventually. When Splash and Weston were with me last summer, the kids weren't around very much, so they didn't form the attachment that I did. But this one is different. And an adult dog is so very different from those exuberant puppies. He is loving and gentle and we "tested" him yesterday when I drove Helen to the church for a youth outing. He socialized with all those kids, beautifully. He reminds me so much of Lilly. He's "needy", but in a good way, and so gentle with anyone around him. But he has his moments of play and loves to run. All three kids put a dog on a leash Saturday night (Murphy's walk was down the hall to the bedroom with Scott to go to bed) and they took them for a quick trot around the golf course. How I wish I could have gotten a picture of that, three precious children and their three Golden Retrievers! Andrew will take Zipper's adoption much harder than anyone. I guess it's true that every boy needs a dog. I do wish we could keep him, but I think he needs to find a home that needs him more than we do.
We're going away for the weekend and the rescue group will find a "relief" foster family for us if possible. I told them it was fine and I thought it would be good for Zipper to be with people for the weekend, rather than here with my petsitter coming and going, but I want him back on Monday!!! :o
I'll keep you posted with pictures this week (or at least I'll try).

Oh, Logan, Zipper seems to fit in so well!!!!! Again, you are an angel to this sweet pup!
About fostering and giving up the special ones.....you might have a problem. I had to fight my 23 yr. old daughter and "old" husband to give up Bandit. At first we were going to keep him, but when he and Shiloh didn't get along, I turned into the "meany" and allowed him to go to his forever home (who, BTW, was waiting for me to turn him over and snatch him up). They (my family) pouted and moaned about how I let such a great dog get away. LOL, Shiloh decided for me, though.
Good luck, and more pictures, please.
