Yeah the two things are totally unlrealted, but I didn't want to start two threads...

First, my friend at work's dog needs some prayers. Coda is a 12 yr old Rat terrier mix, who has just been diagnosed with the first stges of Kidney failure. She spent the day at the vet's today and it seems there may be some concern about her heart as well. Please keep Coda and her family in your thoughts...

Much less serious, but still no fun, Cincy managed to cut the top of her back paw last night. We don't know how, but Ralph noticed it has we were getting ready for bed last night. They made a midnight run to the Vet ER, and came home with 3 staples, a badnage and an e-collar. Cincy has been greatabout not bugging the bandage, so we hve taken the collar off and Ralph stayed home with her today. She may have to wear it tomorrow though since we can't stay here with her...at least until she pays a visit to out vet tomorrow afternoon. She is really hoping this doesn't spoil her plans for swimming this weekend!!!

Prayers for Coda - sweetheart, please get well.

Cincy - what a good dog!!! You KNOW that if you ignore the paw, the cone gets removed!!!
Hope your swimming plans still go right ahead!

Prayers on the way for your friend's dog Coda. I have a soft
spot in my heart for older dogs. :) Cincy might have to put away
her "bathing suit" this weekend, but I hope her paw heals
quickly. I hope the vet clears her for swimming. I know she loves
it.:)

Prayers for Coda. I believe there is a yahoo group for canine kidney disease. Maybe there can be some information your friend can use on that bulletin board.

Poor Cincy!! Get well quick! Hope you can go swimming (but I wouldn't count on it :().

Unfortunatly, I have no new info on Coda...Chris didn't come in to work today, so I am fearing the worst and have to wait all weekend to find out. I do now her in-laws were coming in town this weekend, so I have fingers crossed she stayed home to clean..

Cincy sees the vet at 5:30. We only made her wear the cone while we were at work today...the rest of the time she has been free of it and very good about leaving the bandage alone.

Thanks for the well-wishes everyone :)

The vet said Cincy's paw is healing very well, but no swimming til the staples come out ( Next Sat AM) :(

We are going out to my friend's house today to let the dogs play with her two GSD's that we will be dogsitting for next weekend...it will be a challenge keeping Cincy out of the pond, esp. since the other dogs will be in....unless I can come up with some sort of a plastic bag, like they do for people with casts ;)

Sweet Coda went to the Bridge on Thursday night...

After Chris left work she and her dad and step mom rushed Coda to Southfield Michigan to see a cardiac specialist. Coda was litterally slipping away in the car. Once they got to MI, the vet there said she was in cardian arythmea (sp?) They said it would be work to stablize her, then they would have to place a temporary pacemaker. Next they would have to get her kidney's back in working order, and then see about a permant pacemaker. Coda also suffered from arthritis and was losing her eyesight, so the difficult decision was made to help her cross the bridge peacfully and not subject to to all the invasive surgeries that may not even work.

RIP Coda.
