Ever since I was a little tot I have always wanted to be a vet. That is my dream to this day and someday a hope to become a vet. My plan is after I finish high school I will go on to college. I know it will take a lot of hard wor but I will put on my best. So my question is: WHO WANTS TO BE A VET WHEN THEY GROW UP?~Layka

Yes, I do! It's been a dream of mine ever since I can remember... I'm attending a high school this year, that has a "pre vet" program, where you can assist real vets and take care of animals. After I graduate high school, I plan to go to U.C Davis, and from there...a vet! :)
I also would love to work for Guide Dogs of America, training guide/assistant dogs for people. I also, would like to open up a rescue for unwanted golden retrievers.

i used to want to be a vet, but decided against it for various reasons. if i do become a vet, which i guess is still a possibility, i'd be a holistic vet, not enough of those in the world:D but for now i've got my sights set on photography:D

Future Vet,
The closest thing that I got to a vet was a comp. game called "Vet Emergency" it not that bad you get degrees and you cure animals and stuff like that. I got it only for 15 $. Its really cheap and its worth it.
After hhigh school, I am thinkin about heding to UC Davis, my Math teacher told me that he wen't there and it has the best vet classes in US. The only problem is that it is a long ways away from where I live..... Washington. But when I get older I will probably some how find a way to move or whatever works. My parents hate the fack that i am away from home... especially summer I am always gone at friends or Canada visiting.
That is really cool that I have friends who I have stuff in common with.
P.S. PM me. I want to be friends.

I love working with animals, but I don't think I could ever have enough courage to be a vet. I think mentally I don't have what it takes to deal with the bad aspects of being a vet. I could see myself becomming depressed everytime an animal died in the hospital and blaming myself for it. But for now I really enjoy being a pet sitter, I love working with different animals.

I've never been "cringy" around blood, or anything else that relates to it.

I dont want to be a VET Iwant to be a VET tech ;). thats when you do prep and stuff, like you have to shave the belly befor operation, you have to do injections, and put animals down :(:(. but I dont think it would bother me, I think if it is best for the animal, and stops the suffering, so be it ;).

When I grew up, in Yugoslavia we lived on a farm and one day I fell of my balcony and fell on the pavment. Ever since I have had a bloody nose very often. I went ot the doctors and they say it happend because of the fall. So I am used to blood it doesnt scary me at all. I am not gona let some stupid injury ruin my future and dream. Or I am not gona let it get in my way.!-Zana

Yes. I want to be a veterinarian. I want to be an equine or livestock veterinarian.
I would also love to work at the SPCA in Houston. I really want to own my own dog boarding kennel or doggy daycare center. I have also considered being a DNR Warden or Fish and Wildlife Service worker. What ever my job may be it will revolve around animals that's for sure.

I have been considering being a vet for a long time but it isn't for me. My sister is in the Sciences and she is having the hardest time. I'm not a hard worker like she is so I wouldn't even make it past college.
I'm going into advertising or web designing. Maybe I'll act. Lol, yeah right. But if I do still want to be a vet later on, there are courses I can take. I just don't think it's for me. :)

I wanted to be a vet while growing up. I changed my mind after we had to have our fox terrier Ashes put to sleep. He was bitten/attacked by another dog. I don't know all the specifics on what was wrong with him.

I did..but I don't think I'd be a very good one. I'm squirmish around blood. I couldn't even deal with disecting a worm in biology. I have horrible memory so nothing would stick in this thick head. And I wouldn't be able to deal with putting down an animal. I'd treat every animal as if it was my own so naturally, I'd break down whenever something sad happened.
I'm planning on taking a course outside of vancouver after graduation. It's a program for people wanting to become professional dog trainers. I think it'd be an awesome way to make a living. I'd get to see dogs everyday, and help out other people. I really want to help train those harder to handle aka unadoptable dogs at the shelters.

I've wanted to work with animals as a career since I was like 5 years old. :p In 4th grade, I 100% decided I wanted to be a veterinarian. I actually worked at a vet clinic last year and got to see a lot of the stuff that they do, but recently I've been more involved with computers. I love making sigs, neat lil graphics, backgrounds, kennel banners for showdog.com, and websites, so I was thinking maybe getting into Computer Science in college and maybe webdesign as a career instead. :) I applied to two colleges, one in the pre-vet medicine as a major and the other in computer science as a major. I'll know which college I got into within the next two months! If I get into both I don' t know what I'll do. :p

I have and will always want to be a vet. I am hopefully going to go to college for it.
not me, plus there is no way I could with my grades. with a C average, and 75% my highest mark out of all my classes, there is no possable way I could get into a vet school.

I´m not sure I´d love to be vet....
I´d love o help andimals and I´m not afraid from blood, but I couldn´t put pets in sleep....:(

well you can always refuse to put them to sleep if you don't want to . i wouldn't be able to put a perfectly healthy pet to sleep, but i think i could if it were to put it out of it's misery.
Has anybody read 'All Creatures Great and Small' by James HArroit?

I had always wanted to be a vet, but as I got older I have realized I don't want to be in school that long. Soooo I am going to be a veterinary technician, or a vet nurse! :D I just started my vet clinic job last Monday and I loooove it! I have a semester and a half to go until I get my vet tech degree! :)

I read All Creatures Great and Small - it's a great book! :)
I wanted to be a vet... and maybe I still do, but I can't cut up animals. :( I wanted to be a behavorist, but in vet school you have to cut up animals even if you aren't planning on doing any surgery, so I don't know any more.

I used to want to be a vet, but i could never do some of the things vets have to do. Like putting a dog down, I know its for the best and its kind of like saving them but i wouldnt be able to do that. Oh and i dont like blood, which is really hard if you're going to be a vet!lol:)

By 5th grade, I had narrowed my career choices so that I knew what we would each do if there were 6 of me. Top was always artist/graphic designer, which is what I am. But my Top 6 did not include veterinarian. I realized that I could never explain to an animal why something hurt, or what I was doing, in a way they could understand, so I didn't want to pursue that career field (even as one of my 5 alternate me's.)

Don't be fooled. Art school is no less work than any other kind of college, trust me. In many ways, it can be harder, because art is such a subjective thing, and so someone criticizing a piece of artwork feels far, far more personal than someone marking an answer wrong on a test.

For all you out there who have lost hope either for bad grades or for not liking the fact that you have ot put them to sleep... there is still time for change!
