This morning Nellie returned from her morning stroll outside at about 7 am...
I invited her to join us for a nap ("Oh early morning!") and so she did...purring loud and falling asleep ZZZzzzzz...
About half an hour later she suddenly jumped out of the bed, made some fuss and dashed out of the bedroom...I followed her, because I expected her puking up another hairball...only to find her sitting next to a dead mousie in the entrance hall...
Oh dear, over her nap she has forgotten that mousie...she never ever did this before, because no matter how dead a mousie is she usually invites us AT ONCE with loud purrs and meows and a lot of fuss to come and see and praise her...
I guess she's getting old...
...and I wonder how many dead mice there might be hidden somewhere in the house...IIIEEEEKKKKKKKK!!!!!

YIKES.... a dead mouse in the house! Well, I guess that is better than a LIVE mouse in the house! What a sweet kitty to bring mommy a nice prize though! ;)

It's Sunday so Nellie must have thought she could relax and be a little slack on the job.

How true!!! She has done that before...bringing in an alive mouse to entertain us a bit (preferably very - I mean VERY - early in the morning)...so just imagine two sleepy humans trying to catch a mouse...removing furniture...trying to get Nellie into the bathroom...rolling on the floor with flashlights to see where the mouse has gone to...and finally a human only wearing a nightshirt sneaking out on the street to release a very scared mouse...and after we release Nellie from the bathroom all we earn are those dagger stabbing glances from her...
We are lousy mice hunter I guess...:D

Yeah, she cannot understand why you don't appreciate her gifts... :) She probably thinks these lousy human hunters need some feline help! :)

We are lousy mice hunter I guess...:D LOL I can just picture this. :D Now I'm glad that my cats are indoor only because I can just imagine the many presents that they'd bring in to me. :)

Your technique of nightshirted, sleepy humans hunting early morning prizes also works on live lizards, live moths, live grasshoppers, and *GACK* live snakes. I learned this lesson thanks to my tuxedo huntress, Daisy (RB). She regularly provided me with extra protein for my diet. What a thoughtful kitty!

Aaaw - thoughtful little Nellie. Yes, I'm afraid we are no strangers to mice in the house either, both dead and alive.
A girl I used to work with had two cats which she kept as housecats here because she lived on such a busy road. When she went back home to Australia she took the cats with her and they were allowed into the garden. One of the cats started to bring Hibiscus flowers and leave them at the back door! I thought that was altogether a lovelier gift than a dead mouse!
I have not been able to convince my own cats to do this. :D

How thoughtful of you Nellie, to bring your mum presents. :) You must love your mum a lot! Now, you just have to show her where the rest are. :D

LOL
When I visited my friend in Germany, his kitty, Mitzy, used to bring me dead mice or frogs :D My friend warned me not to show her too much affection :)

How funny!! Guess that mouse tired her out and she needed that nap first!

This must have been a tough one to catch so she was all worn out and needed a quick power nap before going back to it. :D

Don't you just hate it when you forget about your dead rodents? Nothing more disturbing to a nice nap than suddenly remembering your fresh kill is still in the hallway.....
