my sweet little tortie loves to chew on plastic bags. Does anyone else have a cat that does that?

Yes, my cat Doogie (Casey reincarnated :D ) loves to chew on plastic grocery bags. I've been told that the processing of the bags contained some kind of fish oil or something and that's why they like them. Goofy cats!!

Out of 4, only one of my cats likes plastic. And he's only 2-1/2 months old. I was hoping he'd outgrow it but maybe he won't. . .silly kitty.

My silly baby instead prefers to crawl inside them or carry them around in her mouth!

Cubby loves plastic bags. Any time I go shopping and empty grocerys he wants to play with any bag he can.
Welcome to PT also.

Hayley and Mandy love to crawl inside plastic shopping bags but I have never seen them chew on them.

Yes, it is true, yours and mine and those of the others who wrote answers to your question are not the only cats with this plastic predilection!
My calico princess, Julie (meow!) likes to LICK anything plastic, from bags to plastic storage containers and laundry baskets, even certain photographs.
I try to keep all these items away from her. I am not worried about her damaging them as much as I am about them hurting her...in terms of her ingesting dirt, chemicals or even a stray piece of plastic that might come off and lodge in her throat--my worst nightmare.
So I would advise keeping these items away from your cat, especially if he or she actually tries to bite or eat the plastic items. Choking is a real possibility in such cases...

Well, I was Siva's mom until I clicked on logout and lost my cookies! So now I'm Sweetie's mom. The other two moms I can be is Woozie's mom and Checks' mom. However, I think I've learned how not to make it necessary to change my name again. . . .
Anyway, just want to thank you all for welcoming me to Pet Talk. It's a fun and informative site and I've learned a few things in the week I've been posting.
I love the stories!

Welcome to Pet Talk mysophiecat. I'm sure you'll love it here. :D My cat Storm loves to chew on plastic bags and other uneatable things. I try to keep all of the plastic bags in my closet and other items like rubber bands, twist ties, bows, and ribbon locked away. You almost need to child proof your house. After all they are my furkids. :)
