Hi Everyone. ...long time 'reader' seldom 'poster' here. Anyway, it looks like I may be taking a job in the Dallas area...and something I noticed this weekend while I was down there, is that I didn't notice as many "dog people" there. Are there many (any?) of ya'll out there in PT land that are in the Dallas area??

OH NO.......................... Is my Pookie going to move away from her Auntie, Uncle and Cousins:( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(
See another good reason to stay in the Pacific Northwest, lots of good doggie parks. Maybe I should start a thread of why Pookie wants to stay in Seattle;)

sorta close :) I'm in NM. (GO AGGIES!) Babolaypo is also in NM; forgive her, she's a Lobo. ;)
Aly is in -or right outside of- Austin, TX and I *think* Twisterdog is pretty close to Dallas. Maybe, Micki as well? Oh! and PJ's Mom/Rottieluver are also Texans, though I don't remember what part.

I'm about 30 mins from Dallas. In a smallish town called Wylie. There are certain areas you def. want to avoid if you move to the area!
There's also a new dog park in Plano that gets a lot of action!
If you need any info or have questions about an area or anything just pm me. I'm more than happy to help if I can!
We need a Dallas dog park meeting!!! :)

Yep! We live in Texas and just moved from Arlington to Austin. I don`t know how many dog people there are but alot of people around Arlington were very nice and alot of them liked dogs. Alot of people I met anyway.

Hey Rottieluver,
I keep missing you on AIM :( I wanted to update you on Fran. She didn't get adopted yet. She had surgery on her eye and recovered VERY QUICKLY from that. She is now undergoing treatment for Heartworm in a foster home. We are hoping the foster mom will keep her, but if she comes back to the shelter, I am going to let you and your mom know!! Hehe :D

My dad has been to Texas and he said it was the hottest summer he ever experienced.
I live in CT in the smallest, ugliest, unfriendly city!

My air conditioner broke on Friday night and it just got fixed 30 minutes ago. This weekend has been pure torture and misery for me. I can't even explain the horrendous heat that was in here. It was WORSE than outside and it was over 100 degrees outside. And oh so humid! I am still nauseous from being in the heat this weekend with no air.
I will NEVER take the air conditioner for granted again... EVER!

Thanks for the update! My mom said that she`ll take me to the shelter once more b/4 I have to go to school. So maybe We`ll see her. My mom fell in love w/ her.
My mom doesn`t want to foster b/c of PJ,he won`t be able to handle a new dog every couple months or so. and it`s too sad to let go. I get attatched to easily! :D
We`ve had a pet when they were undergoing heartworm teatment. It didn`t go so well.:( (I got bit by him,in the face.It wasn`t pleasent.)

I'm about 4 hours from Dallas, so Oz and I might be up for a dog
park meeting there. Fall, maybe when it's a whole lot cooler?
Murph and Maddie aren't really dog friendly or I'd bring them
too.
Hey aly, I sympathize with the no a/c thing. I spent a weekend
in New Mexico without a/c, during 100 degree weather and
endured most of it soaking in the tub. Course being the desert,
the nights were nice and cool, so there was at least some
relief. How'd the pets handle it? Murph and Maddie just stayed
outside all day where it was cooler.

Oh, man!! Are you guys for real?? I'm so excited!! When??? Huh??? When can we meet at the dog park????
Par - I sent the dogs to stay with my mom. I kept the cats here with me. They seemed to handle it fine and were acting normally. I have some wood floors that they sprawled on to try to get a bit cooler. Skylar wouldn't stop playing and I was scared he'd get overheated so I kept soaking him in water.
micki - We could have a big one in October or November sometime so it'll be cool for everyone. But if some of us wanna do a test-run, we should! I wouldn't mind driving up there sometime this month. The only problem is if the dogs are hard players, it'd be too hot for them.

Very true, it would be painfully hot right now. And my two young ones play VERY hard. They are rough and tumble all the time! :D I can wait until it cools off for the kiddos. I'm just SO excited at the idea!! Happy Dance Time!!!!!:D

Oz says he votes for cooler weather. He's not too partial about
putting his lil' footsies on hot grass. Plus, he won't have enough
energy to jump on everybody.;)
