OK, I finally got my courage up to give Willow a bath. The vet said Willow would be fine but I was rather nervous, never having given a bunny a bath before.

Willow remained pretty calm, only trying to hop out once or twice.

Working the shampoo in.

All wrapped up snug, getting dried off.

And the hard part, working the tangles out.

I'm a little sad that all his fur has lost the "softness" and is weird now. Kinda on the brittle side. I'm hoping that after he dries out completely he will be nice and soft again. :)

I hope you enjoyed the pictures.

He is just so cute:D I remember the first time I saw his pic. I thought it was a toy. He is just adorable. I would like to meet him:D

Right now we have a brown wild bunny trapped in our back yard. He doesn't remember how he got in, so he can't find his way out. Poor Bun.

Are you sure there is NO shampoo residue in the fur? That is the most likely reason for it to feel this way.
How did the de-tangling go? Angora's fur can be difficult to work with.
All in all I am glad that he liked his bath.

Jen, yes his fur softened up a considerable amount after it dried out. I do wonder if there was a tiny bit of shampoo left in it though. Do you recommend that I give him another bath, or will it just dry out his skin if I bathe him again so soon??

I also would like to share some good news!! I am so thrilled! :D We switched Willow over to his new cage about 3-4 weeks ago, and he was terrified to come out by himself. I made a point of taking him out every day and letting him hop around for a while, but it wasn't the same as him going/coming as he pleased. This morning for the first time he came out by himself!!! :D I let him stay out for a bit and put him back in (so he could get water/food) and he came out again!!! I am so happy that he seems to have gotten over that hurdle!!! :D

That is good news about Willow feeling more comfortable about his new house.
About re-bathing, If you are worried about residue and simply want to rinse him, that should not dry out the skin. And a proper pet shampoo should also NOT dry out the skin. I would worry a bit though if you were using a human shampoo. It may be too soon. (even baby shampoo is drying to a pet's skin)

He's adorable! I can't recall, why did he need a bath? As far as his coat feeling a bit coarse, a good diet will change that but it will take sev. weeks. Technically rabbits should not need a bath unless they've been ill and have a pooey bottom or got in mud, etc. They are a very clean animal....they eat, they groom, they play, they groom and then they sleep and..... then the cycle starts all over again....

It's heart-warming to see how great he is doing. :D Congrat's!!!!:D

Awwww I bet Willow looks all nice and fluffy now! Don't we get to see after-the-bath dried pics? :D I agree with Jen...if he still feels weird, it may be shampoo...and another rinsing won't hurt at all. :)

Thanks so much for the compliments! :o :D

Daisylover, when I took Willow to the vet, they shaved his bum and underneath was quite nasty & dirty. I think Willow has a hard time cleaning down there & his tail. He definitely needed it!!!

I don't know if you guys saw this thread here (http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30110) They are from a few weeks ago. I will try and get some new ones up soon! :)
