View Full Version : Guess what?
I saw Julius today!!!!!!!!! :) :)
His new name is Dwayne. He lives with 2 canine best friends and is happy as a clam :) It is so much easier when you are able to see how your fosters are doing. I feel a huge weight lifted from me because I was worrying about him so much.
On a sadder note, I have found this woman's cat again who I found 2 or 3 months ago in bad condition. Well, she's in sort of bad condition now but she wasn't as bad the first time I found her. The woman was very rude to me and accused me of stealing her cat the first time I found her. Well guess what... she's not getting her cat back. Its not something I'm doing out of spite, its something I have to do to save the cat's life. She's under-nourished, STILL has tapeworm (or has it again), infested with fleas, outdoors in a hot parking lot every day (I heard this from my sister's friend), and living in an apartment that doesn't even allow pets! If she was caught, the cat would be sent to the city pound and surely die. I am going to fix her up and get her a home. My wallet will be hurting after this one. It already got a huge dent from Lolly's vet bill today. Ah well, I never spend much money so I have some for these exact type of things.
Aly, God Bless you! What you have done is fantastic! I wouldn't give that cat back to that woman either. The cat will be better off in a new home (or yours :D!)
How is Lolly doing? Decided whether to keep her or not? She is just soooo precious. I'm glad you can pull the resources together to help these animals. They are so lucky to have crossed your magnificent path. It has got to be one of the best feelings in the world to help save life or repair a broken and lost one. Good luck to you Aly :)
Oops, I forgot to mention how glad I am to hear that Julius is doing well. It is so cool that you get visit him and follow up on his progress. Does he seem to like his canine buddies?

Julius, I mean Dwayne, YIPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEE!! I'll be it makes you feel so good to actually see the rewards of your hard work and dedication! And what a grand life he seems to be leading! And I do believe you are doing the exact, right thing in "rescuing" this poor little kitty. I remember the story well from months ago; how angry the woman was. The health and well being of the defenseless baby is what is important now. And thank you again Aly for being the selfless, dedicated and incredibly loving person you are! Now, about Lolly..... ;)
I can't keep Lolly :( :( :( :( :( I REALLY want to but she has prey drive and is showing signs of distress every time she's around Shiloh. Shiloh doesn't even provoke her in the least bit. She'll just slowly walk by and Lolly goes nutso. I made a longer post about it in the topic 'Where's aly?'. It breaks my heart that I can't keep her but if I were to keep her and she did the same thing Harley did, I don't know WHAT I would do. Oh man you guys, he seperation anxiety is so bad. Reece has gotten so good with his, I had forgotten how stressful it is to train a dog out of seperation anxiety. She had a drop-off appointment at the vet today and when I went to pick her up, they told me they may have to keep her longer. I was really worried and asked why and they said she's showing signs of extreme sickness and she wouldn't even stand up. Well I walked back to see her, already crying, but turns out she was just scared out of her mind. I walked in and said "Lolly?" and she jumped up and ran to me hysterically jumping and barking like crazy. When I do find her a home, I am hoping I can take her to their house and spend a little time there with her to make the transition a little more smooth. I'm sure she can bond to someone else like she has bonded to me but I'd prefer not to just shove her into a new situation all alone. I'll keep you guys updated.
Hmm.. what else? Oh yeah, Julius (Dwayne) loves his doggy brothers. One is a border collie mix and the other is a kind of mix I didn't recognize. He runs around the house with the dogs all day. He even tires out the border collie hehehe. He's getting to be a big boy and he is very much his mama's boy. He's a great cat because he can be really playful but also a sweet lap kitty.
Luna, this cat I've found again, is doing good with her tummy full. She still has stiches in her side from several months ago when I saw her before. They aren't dissolvable stiches so I'm going to take her to the vet tomorrow and see if they're supposed to be in still or if the girl was neglectful and just didn't go get them removed. She had the stiches from when a dog attacked her. She HATES dogs now, even my sweet Reecey boy. I can't say I blame her though.

Oh Aly, I started to cry when I read about Julius a/k/a Dwayne. It brought back such precious memories for me about another "Dwayne". About six years ago, Helen and I were renting a house in Columbia, and my brother, who was 20 at the time, was living with us. He worked with a friend from church doing landscaping work. One day, this 6'6", softhearted brother of mine walked in with the tiniest kitten I had ever seen. He had found him when he was weedeating. (The next week, they found the mama cat, dead in the same flowerbed) Thank Heaven he saw him lying there. The kitten was about 3 weeks old. Chip bottle fed him, and I decided he could stay. Helen was around 4 at the time, and she had a set of books about the "Baby Blue Cats". Well, the Baby Blue cats had dog friends, named Dwayne and Dougie. And her name for this beautiful gray kitten was Dwayne!! Unfortunately, Mimi wasn't so smitten with him, and about fell apart, sort of like Shiloh with Harley. But Mom and Dad helped us, and found a home for him in their home town. He is about a 15 pound "big man" now, and doing beautifully. But he was precious, and now I know, he was an angel compared to my Butter!
Thank you for reminding me of something very special. And a bigger thank you for doing all that you do to help these babies in need. Lolly will find the right home, and she and you will be better for it.
Sorry you had to endure one of my older "rescue" stories!!! :o

Aly, I'm so happy for Julius. you found the perfect Home for him.
That poor Luna Cat. I feel so sorry for her. That Lady should never had a Cat. I just hope you can find a Home for her and Lolly.
It is strange how some animal's get along so well and some just wont. I fell in love with this sweet, loving Cat at Petsmart, but as soon as I took her out of her Cage and she looked at the other Cats she turned in to "Psycho Cat", hissing and howling at the other Cats.In the same Store I talked to a Lady with a gorgeous Golden Retriever/Border Collie Mix. She told me that her Dog gets along just great with her 5 Cats, but does not like other Dogs.
Go figure

I am very glad to hear Julius is happy and healthy! He's a lucky little kitty and you can be sure that he won't forget ever forget you, the woman who saved his precious little life! I am sorry about that other cat. I totally agree that what you are doing is the right thing. Some people are just not fit to own a pet. Good luck with the poor sick kitty. And sorry about Lolly :( I know it will be hard for you to give her away, but as I posted under 'Where's Aly,' when the time comes to say goodbye, we will be here for you to cheer you up!

Aly, when you say "Guess what", I know I am in for an interesting read. Your life is never dull.
I am so happy for Julius. Had a good feeling about that adoption at the time and I am glad to hear it was an accurate premonition. I hope this will prove to be the case for Lolly as well. She certainly deserves a good home, sweet little girl that she is.
As for the cat, you have such a big heart it is unbelievable. I only wish we could clone you. It would be wonderful if every city could have at least one Aly.
