Guys... this is really weighing on my heart. After a mixed response via PM's and emails (and within the thread itself), I don't know what to do. Most all were willing to donate yet some would not do so in Jessica's name.

Thus, I have decided NOT to set up the fund. HOWEVER, for those who wish to contribute in Jessica's name, Best Friends does offer something nice for the 'in memory of' contributions. To view, the donation 'options' visit the Best Friends: Donations. (https://www.bestfriends.org/donations/) (They also accept credit cards for those living out of the US.) You are encouraged to donate to the Rescue Org. of your choice, either in the name of Jessica or another beloved person/pet.

I think this is the best solution and one that encompasses all concerns expressed to me. I hope you support my decision. :(

(I think we really need a "stressed-out" smiley added to our list... When you hit reply, notice there's room for one more!)

;)

An additional thought ~

Let's also consider dusting off the Pet Talk Pennies for Paws
fund at Best Friends during the December Holiday period.

I agree whole-heartedly with your suggestion zippy-kat! It's an excellent compromise for everyone.

Please don't stress yourself over this - your original idea and the compromise solution show your heart is in the right place. And that's what counts - right!?!

Cinder & Smoke - Pennies for Paws? Not familiar with that - can I get more info? Thanks!

I will make my donation to our local humane society. They have been having financial problems due to city policy, of late. They will benefit from this tragedy.

I would like to hear more about Pennies for Paws too!!!

I don't have much money to donate and next month I had all ready promised my donation to 'Feed The Children'. You know me, if someone/something is hungry, I HAVE to feed them. Pennies for Paws may be something I can do in the future.:D

I will make a donation locally too - on behalf of "Pet of The Day.com" - maybe when it is listed in the quarterly newsletter (they mention donations on behalf of / in memory of etc....) someone else in Bahrain will join, and I'll be able to have a PT meeting over here:)

Support your idea fully Zippy.
Great idea Phred! (those who wanted donated to Best Friends about 2 years ago around Christmas)

Zippy-cat,

I think you did a very nice thing, with a generous heart and the best of intentions - don't let it get you down - I think we are all a bit saddened and upset by the uncertainty!

HUGS to you for caring so much - sometimes that makes us vulnerable to get hurt - but it NEVER means we should stop caring:)

I received a newsletter from Best Friends last weekend with
a self addressed envelope inside for donations. I've stalled for
a couple of days till stuff got sorted out here. But today, I decided
not to put it off any longer. I designated the money be used for
any needy animal that they care for. Why should the animals needs wait while some foolish child or children play games.

Tonya, I haven't been on as much as I would like to, but I have read this thread and I think your heart was in the right place and you were doing what you thought was a wonderful memorial for a young girl who I feel was playing with everyone's emotions.
I see that she is on here right now at 7:29 Pacific time reading the replys, I'm hoping she understands the hurt and emotions that have surfaced due to her prank.
What a terrible thing to do to people who truly cared for her, and grieved for days.
Dear girl, if you have any part of you that cares for all these wonderful people who love you, you will come in and tell them that you are sorry, and show a little respect for them.

I do belong to 'Best Friends' and I have been making donations to them for years, but it will be in the name of my wonderful, loving Kona who passed away four years ago. She also has a memorial there.

Good idea Tonya. I will just give locally. I am totally believing at this point that it was a hoax. Surely her mother would have been forthcoming with more info and the fact that someone is viewing these threads with her user name is very disturbing. We live and learn. Thanks for trying Tonya. Your heart was certainly in the right place. As for whoever has perpetuated this story, you have no idea of the anguish you have caused. You really need to get some professional help. This is nothing to joke about and was very cruel.

Cruel, sick, disturbing - all of those words apply.

GOD FORBID, that we ever really do lose a member of our forum.

How do you think that people will respond if this should happen. We will demand to know details, location and certainly be able to read it in your local newspaper.

Just look at what you have done with people's emotions - are you proud of yourself?

Tonya, as always you have your heart in exactly the right place and we all love you for it!

Tonya,

I agree with Gini. You have a big heart in the right place.

As for Jessica, she needs SERIOUS professional help and maybe a good wallop to knock some sense into her.

ARE YOU READING THIS JESSICA??? I believe in Karma. What you did was disgusting and will definitely come back to bite you where the sun don't shine, when you least expect it. You can COUNT ON IT!!!

Since "Jessica" hasn't been replying to us in these threads, I have pmed her asking her to clear this all up. and minutes later, without a reply she left. At least whoever it was that was on could've said something.

Bluekat,

I think that just goes to prove that it's all a hoax.
