My cute lil kitty SMOKEY sits on the counter and waits for somebody to turn on the sink so that he can drink from it! He also drinks out of the toilet! The only way that he will drink from his water bowl is if I put an ice cube in it! He is a very picky drinker! I LUV MY CAT!!

My Tux will lick the beads of water left in the tub after I shower. What a cutie! :D

My Mom's cat - The Cranker - will only drink from the bathroom faucet. Ok, so every now and then he'll concent to the bathtub faucet being turned on, but mostly it's the bathroom sink or nothing.

My mom and dad were going out of town this weekend, and my brother wasn't going to be around either, so my mom said she'd probably have to leave a bowl of water in the sink for the Cranker or he'd have no water.....but it'll be interesting to hear if he actually drank out of the bowl or not. ;) :D

Filou prefers the kitchen sink -but the water can't be running. You have to adjust it so that it only drips:rolleyes:

Fister has two glasses of water, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. We soon found out that he wouldn't drink any, if it was next to his food bowl. He often calls us to come out in the bathroom and pour water across the the floor for him, it's much funnier licking it up than drinking out of a glass - and we do it! How on earth did he manage to train us.

We had a water dish for the dogs in the kitchen and one in the cat room for the cats. The last few times the cat's water dish was knocked off the shelf and spilled all the water on the floor. :(

We now use just one for all the animals. It stays in the kitchen, and we have to be sure its filled often, because if it gets low on water one of the cats knocks it over. We are not sure who, but we are thinking its Ashton knocking it over :(

My kitty likes the water dripping too. He gets afraid and jumps off when you get too much water going!:D

My cats drink out of the dog's water bowl. Although, I put fresh water by their food dishes, they prefer the dog's water :)

That's funny, though we offer Nellie daily fresh water in her bowl she prefers to drink from the pond outside (iiieeek!)...magpies take their daily shower in there, the neighborhood dogs and cats drink there and even the deer and hedghogs from the nearby forest...
...maybe drinking from a highly frequented source of water is like having a drink and the newspaper at the same time...heeheehee:D :D :D

Mee Mee drinks out of the dogs water bowl, too....she wouldn't even touch the water we gave her, so we just let her share the dogs. And the bowl is huge!!!! She looks so tiny next to it....:)

Cammie (on the left) will only drink out of the faucet. We bought her a pet water fountain and she ignores it. Whenever we are looking for Cammie, we usually find her asleep in the bathroom sink just waiting for the faucet to be turned out.

Halo (on the right) can't figure out the sink thing at all. She bites and snaps at the stream of water thinking it is solid and ends up soaking wet (and so is the bathroom mirror). Halo sticks to drinking out of her bowl (she doesn't use the pet water fountain either) or drinking out of any filthy mud puddle she can find. Yuck!

Well, Tigger only drinks from sinks/bathtubs. Smokey and Mystic will drink from their water dish on the floor next to their food dish. Abner HAS to drink from my husbands water cup on side of his TV chair. Tucker has her own dish outside but I have found that she also likes to drink from the birdbath.

My mom's cats (my "grandbabies") love to drink from the pool, or in the spring, fall and winter, the top of the pool cover. She also has to provide them with drinking dishes all over the house. (she has 8 cats and they all want to be special in their drinking place).

We have a water bowl in the kitchen for the cats to drink out of. They both drink from it, but also will hop in the bathtub to get a drink of water too. Jack will jump up on the bathroom sink every once in a while for us to turn the water on for him to play with and drink. Jack also loves to drink water from our drinks. He practically will stick his head in the cup when you're drinking from it. I sometimes just fill up a cup w/ water and act like I'm drinking it to see if he'll come running over. Without fail he always does and I let him have a good long drink.

Speckles just drinks out of her water bowl beside her food.

Max, on the other hand, must, absolutely MUST drink his water from a stainless steel bowl that is on the right-hand side of the counter in the guest bathroom.
- if it's on the other side of the counter he won't drink it
- if it's on the proper side but in a different bowl he won't drink it
- it it's on the floor beside his food dish he won't drink it
- if it's on the proper side of the counter in the ensuite bathroom he won't drink it.

Am I well-trained or what???

Sid and Jan just tend to drink out of their water bowl - boring.

Joxer likes the water bowl, the toilet, the bathtub, and the bird-bath. If we turn on a sprinkler and put down a plate or something to catch the water, he'll drink off of that.

Back when Jan was a little kitty - she used to lick the water off of the tops of my feet when I got out of the shower.:)

I love hearing all the little quirks regarding cats.
My cat, Chloe, will only drink from a vase that use to be on the kitchen ledge. We have moved it onto the floor, but she refuses to drink from anything else.

My cat Squeak will only drink from her water bowl or fountain. Bernie on the other hand will drink from anything. I've found Bernie trying to drink from a toilet bowl, shower, sink and puddle (that he's made from the fountain). If you pour yourself a glass of water he'll follow you around meowing for you to share. I think he just likes to play in it!

(Welcome to PETTALK!)

For over a year I had a separate bowl for Kylie and Keegan. Then I noticed Kylie wouldn't drink out of her bowl even if it is fresh. She would drink out of the dog bowl. So now I have just one large bowl for both!

My Julie (meow!) varies her MO about drinking just like she does everything else. (I have heard that felines instinctively do this so as not to establish too clear a pattern that could be figured out by predators.)

Anyhow...for a while she HAD to get up on the ledge of the bathtub and crane her neck so she could lick the drops off the bathtub spigot. She also LOVES to drink out of my two-cup Pyrex measuring cup. I discovered this while using the measuring cup to water my plant. When Julie heard the water running into the cup, she came running herself! She displayed such interest and eagerness that I set the cup down for her. She drank from it like it held the nectar of the gods.

So now I have a measuring cup full of water in my bedroom and another "regular" water dish by her food in the kitchen...lately I never see her drinking out of the kitchen dish, but I still put it down for her just in case. And she seems to have gone off the bathtub spigot lately, too!

Siva drinks ice water in a glass on the kitchen counter. Wooz likes the bathroom sink but also enjoys the ice water on the counter. Mr. Checks likes my glass of water best but if I put 18 bowls of water throughout the house, he'd drink from every one of them and truly love it. Sweetie Pie likes the ice water, too, but also likes to lick water off my fingers. They make me laugh with their habits and personalities. Each one is so different!

I found a PetMate water fountain in the "clearance" table at Petco. It was originally $39.99 marked down to $19.99 because it didn't have a filter. I bought a package a filters for it and they absolutely LOVE it!!!

I had bought a cheaper fountain from one of those gadget catlogs and they never used it. So I figured the PetMate fountain was the best investment I ever made!!

Ritz drinks from her water bowl...she also occasionally makes "mouse tea" in her water bowl by dunking her fake mousies (this is INTENTIONAL, I've witnessed it) and letting them float about, then digging them out...sometimes they stay for a swim.

Ritz also likes to jump in the bathtub but it doesn't seem to be to drink. I don't know if it's because she watches us shower every day and thinks she should too, but she gets in there, sticks her whole head under the drips and lets them run down her head, face and back...then jumps out and licks herself down. She also catches drips in her paw and licks them off...

Oh, and if you come to our house and take a shower, don't be shocked if Ritz is standing outside waiting for you to pull the curtain back and "dribble" water from your hand onto her face. She puts her face up and moves it from side to side so she gets "covered"....then proceeds with the aforementioned cleaning lick-down!

Silly kitty

Ritz is a creative little one, eh? I like the mouse tea. I'll have to talk to my herd about that one!

My youngest furkid, Checks, is about 3 months old and waits on the bathmat until I emerge from the shower so she can lick my feet. I think she does it for the reaction. (I have ticklish feet!) When she's finished, she sits back and looks up at me with this expression on her face that says, "my job here is done."

Silly kitties. . . .

Sylvester will only drink out of the bathroom faucet or if I put fresh water in his bowl. I'm concerned when we go away for a day or two he won't have any water. I was thinking about purchasing a water fountain, but I'm not sure if he'll use it.

For some odd reason, one of my cats loves the toilet water. the other loves the dogs water. Go figure!

Slick, Max certainly has you trained. :D

Alice, I love your little video clip, so cute! :)

Tuxluvr, Ritzy is very organised. Giving herself a shower, and making "mouse" tea - I'm impressed! ;)

Fister would prefer to have the water running across the bathroom floor at all times, but that won't happen! He has two glasses he likes to drink from, they have to be in the bedroom corner and in the living room corner. Next to his food, he won't touch it.

I would like to try one of those but, like I said, one cat loves the dogs dish and the other the toilet.
