Hi everyone. :) I just received an e-mail from a friend and her friend needs to rehome her male cat. Here's some more information about him. I don't have any pics.

I am looking for a new home for my cat-Bones.

He needs a quiet home. I recently moved him from a very quiet and

secluded environment to a loud-high foot traffic home and he

isn't adjusting and is a very unhappy and scared cat. I feel

horrible for him and would like to try to find him a home before

I have to take him to the SPCA for adoption or death.
He is about 4

1/2 years old. He is fixed and litter box trained. He only

eats dry food, and loves organic wheatgrass for a snack. He

seems to be better with ladies.....but would probaly just prefer

a quiet home. He isn't a lap cat - but is cuddly especially on

cold evenings. Being a Mancoon, and a male he is territorial

and protective of his owner, can be very independent. He get

frightened by loud voices and being around a lot of people. He

had his shots during the first year - but being a strictly

indoor cat, the vet said he was healthy and didn't need them

anymore. No need to put chemicals where they aren't needed. But

I would be willing to pay for the shots, if need be. He is a long hair

Tabby colored. Along the back he is primarily Black and grey,

same colors tiger striped on sides, and beige tummy. He's

really beauitful, BUT remember we just had him shaved for summer

and he looks a little funny right now - he looks grey and white

now.

I think she means he's a Maine Coon cat. If anyone is interested or has any good ideas you can pm me. Thanks. BTW I'm going out of town tomorrow morning and won't be back until Sun. July 27th.

My last move was just like that, from a very quiet neighbourhood to a noisey area with traffic and trains (the apt is nice though). It took Max about 3 weeks to settle in but now he's fine. I wonder if this person has given it enough time??

I just received an update on this cat and it's not good. His owner had him put to sleep. :( I can't understand why she would do this because he sounded like he was healthy. He was only scared of noises. I don't even know why she didn't try harder to find him a new home. This is just so sad. :( I didn't know her personally so I can't ask her the reasons for putting him down.

People are morons. She was just looking for an excuse to get rid of the cat. Unfortunately, there are many people like that.

I've said it before..we should need a license to own animals.

I'm sick of the "We moved and can't take the cat" or "My cat's habit/behaviour is now unacceptable" or "I now have a human child, the cat will steal babys breath"and all the other excuses which boil down to "I'm sick of the cat"

At our local shelter is a dilute torti, who was taken to the vets to be put to sleep because she was a healthy 11 year old !!

That is barely middle aged and her owners were just sick of her.

The Maine Coon I was/is looking at but not adopting :(, is being rehomed because he is shy.

What a pathetic reason.

These people take on cute kittens but don't want the responsibility of the adult cat. How dare they, may karma come back to them.

END OF RANT

I just don't understand some folks. It seems as though she was in quite a hurry to meet her needs. I feel sorry for the kitty, although he is at peace now and that is that. It is not my style of treatment, but it was her cat. Too bad she didn't love him enough to find him a new home. How very sad.

I really wish I hadn't read this thread. It makes me wonder how some people can live with themselves.:(
