I have to say I am partial to the labs, my taylor being one. He doesn't leave my side and he always keeps an eye on me. He loves other dogs and children which is part of their personality traits. He's shedding right now but it only happens about twice a year, very smart, medium size dogs with a smile on their face all of the time. They seem to look like they're about to talk to you any minute. Either Golden retrievers or a labrador retriever. Good luck!!!

what about an american cocker spaniel? they are medium, don't shed to much (considering their longhair.) they are quite loyal and affectionate. if u live by yourself they will be a one person dog, but if there are more people they will pay attention to everyone. :D

also what about a bull terrier, from what i've experienced they are a one person dog, even with more then one person in the room they will warm up and pay attention to only one person. i don't think they shed to much and they are medium sized; unless you get the mini bull terrier they are alittle smaller. :D

Do you like mixes? I love them because they can come in such unique colors and looks!!!

OMG, Tikeya...Max is so beautiful! I'm in love. I need another dog like I need a hole in the head though.

here are some other medium sized breeds in texses that dont shed or shed very little....

You listed a bunch of australian shephards...Dusty is 1/2 aussie 1/2 husky. I think he has aussie traits aside from his tail. Perhaps it's the husky in him, but he sheds like it's going out of style. I'm thinking about opening up a sweater factory. :p
