I managed to catch another stray on the way home from work today...

I stopped at the store, and as I was walking in, I heard the pathetic meowing coming from under the trolleys.

I looked under and saw a little kitten - probably about 8 weeks - really cute little black and white one with a pink nose - screaming his little head off!

So I ran into the store and bought a tin of food (one with a pull-off lid) and went back outside.......that was the easy part...

it took about 15 mins for the kitten to even come close to the tin of food, but when he got to it he went in "head first" - the little thing was starving! After two unsuccessful attempts at a rugby tackle (remember I am in my work clothes - skirt and high-heels, it is 45 degrees Celcius, and I have a highly amused audience by this time............)

I am getting frustrated, but I know that if I leave without the cat I am going to be sick with worry. Luckily a very kind couple came along, and instead of joining the audience inside the shop who were gawping at my amusing escapades, they decided to help.

Eventually we caught it - the woman distracted kitten with some food, whilst her husband inched up behind it, and I tried to block it's escape route. In a death-defying moment, the guy threw himself over the bonnet of a car and managed to grab it, then I grabbed it in a towel before it could scratch or bite him!:)

At this point the people inside the shop broke into applause - pity they hadn't used their energy to help!!!

The shop keeper gave me a box for him, but little "Houdini" managed to get out, so I had a very interesting drive to the shelter with a kitten loose in the car:)

When I got there, it took 15 minutes and two of us to get him out the car - by this time he was halfway inside my dashboard and determined to stay there!

I left a donation to care for him until he is homed - although we ARE moving to a bigger house next month........I need to talk to hubby:D

I think he was a pet who was abandoned - there is NO WAY he could have got to that point outside the store on his own, and he didn't hiss and spit like other kittens I have caught - he mainly just meowed, so I got the impression he was used to being handled!

I will phone the shelter tomorrow and get an update;)

And thus ends another day in the life of a "Crazy Cat Lady"........

Isn't it funny how some people just attract cats.
Other people could just go to work and back without collecting a cat but not you ;)
