Just wondering if my kitten is the only one out there who doesn’t like catnip?

I’ll put some down and instead of going for the catnip she goes to get petted by my hand. I’ll leave the catnip out and she won’t even go near it….

….But she will also be a bug up my butt when her food or water dish gets low. I’ll fill them up and then she doesn’t want to be bothered with eating or drinking, she just wants to be pet.

Neko, Cookie and Pumpkin love catnip, but Tama couldn't care less about it. He just sniffs it and walks away.

Catnip does nothing for Maya and Bodhi either. Now dried chicken liver treats, that's another story .They appear out of nowhere when I shake the container. Does anyone else know of this treat it' s called Kitty Kisses ?

Filou and Tigris have some interest in catnip but the real stuff for them is valeriane.

My three boys LOVE catnip....my question is, can they have too much? I once heard that for a cat, catnip is like having a martini....now I wouldn't want to get my guys drunk!

My two love catnip but when they've had enough they just walk away from it. It sure is fun getting them "nipped up" for an evening's entertainment, tho. :D

Sammy LOVES catnip, especially KowaBunga brand! He goes positivley goofy!!
Romeo could care less, he does like to play with the catnip bubbles though!
I've heard before that cats actually have a gene in their system, that determines whether or not a cat will be affected by it or not.
Some have it, others don't.

Well Em is a bit of a freak too, never saw a cat like her. I am still in contact with the lady from the shelter I got Ember from. I joke around with her that I didn’t adopt a cat but some strange alien pod creature.

She doesn’t eat two legger food (what she calls people). She can’t be bothered with things that all my cats have liked. The end of the tuna can, bacon, chicken, fish, scrambled eggs. If we put our plates down she will sniff the food but even sitting there watching her she will go back to sniffing but never eating. With scrambled she will take them out of the bowl and play cat hockey with them… go figure.

She’s a freaky cat but why not, freaks of a feather ;). Have to keep the toilet lid down too cause she drinks from the toilet. Maybe she thinks she is a dog with an eating disorder?

LOL Running Wolf!!
My Sammy is the same way with people food, he HATES all of it!!
Around the holidays, I even made him a little plate of yummy turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, etc., and I was sooo excited to give him this special treat, and he tried to bury it!
And he LOVES to drink from the toilet too!! EEEWWW!! I have to keep the lids down!
I wonder if Sammy and your kitty are cousins or something??lol!!;)

Yeah, Ember is a strange one.

Not sure if I mentioned it in this or another post but I had gotten her from a rescue shelter. For a few weeks she’d lay at my feet when I was on the computer. If I’d go to pet her (or move too fast) she would take off like a shot and then come back to lay at my feet under the computer desk. Now she just comes up next to the computer chair and paws me on the arm or ribs. If that doesn’t work she keeps it up and starts screaming “daddy pet me now!!!” Ember does it to me a few times a day and a few times a week to my girl friend. Considering that Ember was neglected/abused by a woman she has come a long way since when she used to run and hide when she just heard a women’s voice.

In my old place I had cleaned the toilet and came home later on and noticed something on the toilet bowl, hmmm paw prints??? J She didn’t go drink from the toilet as much in the old apartment because the bathroom sink dripped. I would call her over and give her a petting and she’d have a wet head. Took me a while to put two and two together.

She likes knocking over her water bowl for some reason. She also likes knocking over my big thermal cup (32+ oz). If I leave my cup where she can get at it I usually hear a crash (it falling) and a running cat!

They may be cousins, does your baby have Tortie or Siamese in her?

I am very happy that Ember has found a GREAT furever home!! She deserves it!!
I am not sure what Sammy has in him. He is medium hair with a HUGE fluffy tail. He is caramel and white. I will be posting pictures of him soon, because he is having a birthday on July 4th!
Perhaps Ember and Sammy are related somehow! silly kitties!
Romeo is a tuxie kittie, and he is always positively STARVING!!
He loves people food even cookies, donughts, chips, etc. I don't give him thses to eat, but if the kids are snacking on them, and they drop a few crumbs, Romeo dives on the crumbs like a starving vulture! He even tries to climb in the fridge! Little piggy!! lol!:D

Although, most of my pride does not take to catnip, I have found the best use for it is to hide it in a cat toy that is designed to accept cat nip, something that they are prone to play with.

Have a new addition to our house. Last weekend we went and picked up my g/f’s cat. He’s at least twice the size of Ember.
He’s still hiding under a dresser we have in the kitchen (tiny apartment). They aren’t fighting which is a good sign. He’ll hiss when he sees Em in the kitchen and Em just looks at him like “dude, come on out and play!”. The one way to get them both out at the same time is to open a can of wet food. Then all of a sudden he doesn’t mind being 2 ft away from Ember!

My Toby doesn't like Catnip at all. I would put some catnip, he would sniff it and walk away. Sabrina and Joey, they love to eat Cat nip and always go nuts for it. Sabrina rolls in it, and eats a bit. But Joey love eating catnip.

When I put catnip down, a scrap of food, or anythign else she'll sniff it like that but then she goes to get some pettings off my hand instead of being intersted in what I was giving her.

I have said it before and will say it agian that i think she is not a cat but some alien pod creature. If she would like table scraps, or catnip I would say she just has a quirk.... but together it makes me think of the movie invasion of the body snatchers, thus an alien pod creature.

Maybe just residual strangeness as we used to live down the street (almost same block) from the diner that got eaten in the orginal Bloob movie :).
