Okay - my babies are soo freaked out right now with the fireworks. My whole house is closed off, and I have my TV running (white noise) non stop, but they wont go outside!!!! HELP!!!! is there anything else I can do? This is Buffalo - so I don't have air conditioning.
You mean you want them to stay outside? Or just go out to potty?

Just to go potty - they are indoor dogs.
Are there any breaks in the fireworks?
Have you tried luring them out with hotdogs or a really good treat?

Yeah - I tried the treat thing, they were not impressed :o So I thought take them on an actual walk (which they both love) as opposed to just letting them out in the back yard. We were not even past the front yard when a firecracker went off, and Leo got freaked out and tried to take off. Needless to say, I was the one that ended up on my a**. The good thing is Penny did at least pee - and Leo as a bigger dog doesn't need to go as often. God - can I last till July 4th is over@#@!#$$%%$@$%!!!

I hope you're ok from the fall. We haven't heard any fireworks yet, but they're coming soon, I know. I didn't have the dogs last summer so I have no idea how they're going to react. If other things like the vaccuum, sirens, and hairdryer are any indication, Abbey will be a complete mental case. Thunderstorms don't bother any of them at all though, so maybe they'll be ok.
I'm sorry I don't have any advice for you. I hope the rest of the week goes more smoothly for you.
Give Penny and Leo a big hug from me!!

Our first dog was very afraid of fireworks, well, he was afraid of any popping noise, we couldn't even pop our chewing gum. He was very abused by a previous owner. Our vet finally resorted to tranqualizing him. We tried white noise, confined him in the bathroom where their was now window, you name it, we tried it. We didn't want to drug him but this was the only way to keep him safe. You might ask your vet, it's worth the try. Cinnamon is a gun dog, she loves to go hunting so the pops have never bothered her.

I have a little freaked girl too:( I don't know if someone used to throw them at her or what, but last night the neighbors were setting some off, and poor little girl, she got between my legs & laid then hid her face under Roxey's tail and was shaking:( So we came in the house and she was still a little upset but she quit shaking. So I guess she stays in this 4th.
Also last year Roxey didn't seem to mind the noise, but is very nervous about it this year:confused:
A friend of mine has to get tranqualizers for her dog.
