My Airedale ,Daisy is having surgery tomorrow to remove two cysts. I'm really worried-I know I shouldnt be. She scratches at them and bloodies up herself and everything else. She doesnt seem to be in any pain, although the vet said it is a horribly uncomfortable condition. Has anyone else ever had this problem?:(
Sheba recently had a growth removed on her eyelid that
did not bother her, but was causing pressure on her eye.
Approx 2 years ago, Pepper had a cyst on her back that had to be
removed. Both dogs were just fine after their surgery.
Sending good thoughts and get well wishes for Daisy
that her surgery goes well.

Penny (6 yeara) just had a cystic tumor removed from her abdomen. It must have been very uncomfortable - but once she had the surgury she was like a puppy again!!!:D

I will be thinking of her, please let us know how it comes out.

I don't blame you for being nervous. Any surgery, no matter how small, makes us Mom's worry. But I'm sure she's in the best of hands. And before you know it, it will all be over and Daisy will be feeling SO much better! We'll all be sending positivie thoughts and well wishes your way! Please do let us know how she's doing tomorrow!! Sandra, Cody and Star:) Love and hugs to you sweet Daisy! Pet lovers all over the worlds are rootin' for you!:)

After a toss & turn night, I brought Daisy in at 8. She was delighted to be going for a ride. She was even happy in the inner office. The only time I worried for the vet was when she began feeling the cysts...Daisy got growly and snappy! She told me the surgery should be done around lunchtime, and Daisy is staying overnight. The house feels really lonley...Can't wait for it all to be done with. Thank you all for your comforting posts, you've really made me feel better...Thank you for letting me know that I'm not alone. I think my biggest fear in this is that Daisy will be in pain, or afraid, feel abandoned, or the worst yet.. die.Wow, I can't believe I actually wrote that!!

We all know how lonely the house feels when one of our babies is at the vet's. Don't worry, she'll be home some. Best wishes to you and Daisy.

The vet called around noon and said the surgery went well.:) She said the cyst by the ear was ulserated. The one on her back was a solid bloody mass. (I know this is so gross) She said that she couldnt tell me that it wasnt cancer. Last year I had the cyst biopsied (sp) and they told me it was not cancerous.Could things have changed so much in a year? She also has some wierd skin condition (Stapf) due to allergies. What could she be allergic to-the kids? Anyway, I get to bring her home tomorrow at 1:30, and I can't wait to get her home!!

Hoping that Daisy will be fine. My Riley had a cyst that ruptured and we had to remove surgically. He is fine and you can't even see the scar.

Daisy is home now, and is passed out in her bed. She looks like Frankenpooch! She has pain meds and an antibiotic. I saw what the Vet removed and it was Huge and Horrible. I want to say the removed part was 3x2. It was really thick (YUK) The one from behind the ear was about the size of a quarter. Daisy has a large 4 inch zippery looking incision on her back, and about a 2 inch one on her head behind the left ear. When I picked her up from the vet's office, her look of relief was amazing! She couldnt wait to get outside to "go", and when we got home she was thirsty and hungry. The kids were really good and let her be.:) She slept most of the day. My husband, Mark, said that she must be in alot of pain. God, I hope not. Thank you all so much for your Love and support.I will try to post some pictures of Daisy as soon as one of these kids around here teaches me how to do it!!

Oh Daisy, what a brave girl you are!! It does sound like you've got more "zippers" than Frankenstein's creation! I'm so glad to hear you're home where you belong, recouperating, surrounded by your loving people!! As your Mom says, it's amazing to see the how you pooches perk up once home!Hopefully the pain meds are doing their job and you're resting comfortably! I know that being with your family is the greatest medicine of all! Take it easy now, sweetheart. Me and mine send you tons of healing prayers and well wishes!! And cudos to your furry siblings for allowing you a little peace and quiet!:)

I was pleased to hear Daisy came through ok and is back home and resting. That one mass/lump sounds truly horrible and really needed removing. I hope she is feeling a bit better today and will continue to recover well. Please give her a gentle hug from me. :)

Daisy seemed pretty perky today, she was up and around a bit, althouth she walks VERY carefully as not to bump into anything. This morning we were outside walking when suddenly she threw up(YOW) I sure didnt expect that, and from the look on her face, she didnt either. Then my son accidently broke a water balloon in the kitchen(can you believe it?) and I freaked out cause I was afraid her stitches would get wet. She gave him the "go wither" look. Later, after dinner, she went for ride in the van. Trying to get her to do her normal routine stuff. I still think she's in alot of pain though. How many days do they normally get to have pain medicine? ( Daisy has 1 day left.) We should be getting some test results next week--holiday you know:rolleyes:I hope everyone has a wonderful 4th, keep safe, all our love, Daisy and Laurie :)

Sorry I didn't see your posts until now. I'm glad to know Daisy is back home after her surgery. Your tender, loving care and our prayers for her will help her heal faster.
Carina had surgery for cysts three times, the last one in her back was as big as the one you described. Fortunately, they were all just fatty cysts, nothing dangerous, but I know how hard it is to think that our furry friends are in pain. :( Please give Daisy a very gentle hug from me with many warm wishes for a quick recovery.

Today was a better day for Daisy.(except for the throwing up part) She was being really bouncy around dinnertime, almost her old self!:D Did Carina's cysts grow back after they were removed,or did you find new ones? (Poor baby!!) Thanks to everyone for your prayers and support! I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday!!:) (I'll be hiding under the bed...)

No,they didn't. They were in three different places, a couple of years apart. Now she's having "old age" problems. We are going back to the vet tomorrow because the medications she has been taking for arthritis are not working.
It's so good to know that Daisy is getting better. I always think that dogs recover very quickly because they don't feel sorry for themselves.;)
Please give the sweet girl many kisses from me. I'm keeping her in my thoughts.

So glad to hear that Daisy is back to her self. Do hope that everyone had a very safe and happy 4th. I had to work, but it was not bad. Got 2 dogs adopted out. Told both that they needed to name the pets Indy for independence day of course. One of the people thought it was pretty cool. And after work went riding on the Harley and went to dinner. Today am off and running so every one have a great weekend.
