It's been a little hot lately and I was wondering if it was possible to bath birds? What is the minimal teperture the water can be? How do you exactly do it? I have a cockatiel and a parakeet.

Thanks!

:) Besides a bowl I bring her in the shower with me.

I bought the bath bowl from Petco.... but you can find them at almost any pet shop. The water should be Warmer than it is cold but NOT hot... DEFINATELY not steaming... but DEFINATELY not freezing. LOL sorry if my description isnt that great. :p

I ussually leave her bowl in there 24/7 emtying the water at night so she wont get wet at night. You want your birds to have 3 hours or so to dry before bedtime, so if your bird goes to bed at 8, take the water out at 5 o'clock.

You cant really force the bird to take a bath... they will do it as they please.

UNLESS you take them into the shower. :)

hope i helped..;)

oh i forgot to add:

They will also like a Spray mist bath.... ;) but dont point the water straight at them. Try and point it Up so the mist will come back down on them.... like a light rain. :)

Rocket loves getting a bath!

Sky just drinks from it. I have to spray her with the bottle so she can keep clean lol Anyways, Jess' advice was great. I bought my birds a plastic tub at the pet store. (the size of the bath depends on your bird) I used to leave it in the cage so they could go in and out as they please but they never did. It was just always filled with food or poop and it was pointless to leave it in there. They didn't use it unless I held it up. So now I just make sure to give them a bath once in awhile. After they have gotten their bath, I *partially* cover their cage with a towel so they don't catch a cold. I make sure the water isn't too cold or too hot. Rocket prefers a warmer bath though and he gets picky about the water temp. lol Good luck :)

i don't have any birds but my friends do. one friend has 2 peach faced love birds and she just fills a dinner plate up with water and let them play in it. my other friend has 2 cockatiels and she fills the bathtub about an inch and puts them in. from what i've noticed BIRDS LOVE BATHS. :D :D :D

Here is a photo of T-bird still wet from her shower.
I use a small mist bottle and she lets me know when she is done by fluffing up and shaking like a dog!
Then she likes to lick the water drops off of her mirror.:p
We bought her a bathtub but she never wanted to use it so she gets a shower instead.

Tweety and Rocket look so cute in their tubs!:)

PCB we did try to bathe them. We could only give Linux a shower when he was in his cage with a spray bottle because if we gave him one outside the cage he'd fly away.

We didn't know what temperature bath water for them would be so know we know we are going to try later today when my dad gets home. I just hope they like it because if the don't we'll have some flying birdies!
