New Puppy

Hello all...I am new to the list. I have been lurking around for quite some time and make sure I look up dog of the day everyday. I love this website. We lost our sweet Chloe (samoyed mix) three years ago and have now been able to finally get another dog. She is a beautiful Akita puppy. She will be 12 weeks old tomorrow. Her name is Katie. We have fallen deeply in love and absolutely adore her. I would send a pic along if I knew how to do that. I am completely computer illiterate...lol. Does anyone else own an Akita? I would love to hear any suggestions or tips you might have on raising or taking care of her. Thanks for being around and letting me share in your dog stories.

I've never owned an Akita, but I do think they are a most beautiful breed. Like binka_nugget said "We are crazy about pictures" so post a few when you can. If you need help, just about anyone here is willing to help:D

i didn't have one, but one of my best friends have one. here are some suggestions for you

~make sure that she knows who's boss, they can be very headstrong!
~house train and obedience train her
~give her alot of exercise, she'll need it
~also i have noticed they are a one person dog
~they can run fast and long so i would suggest training her to stay in the yard
~they can be very protective and won't change their mind if they disslike someone/something


i think those are the all the suggestions i have right now. congrats on the pup. :) they grow fast so don't miss any of it. :D akitas are soooooo beautiful!!!:D
