I don't know if I can explain this real well...but here's the scoop. We didnt' have a very good day. I was feeling rather ill at work and came home early. Malone was with me today (that's a long story all by itself). Anyway, the second we got out of the car Malone was on a mission around the yard. I thought he had to go, but he just wanted to snuffle.

He made it 3/4 of the way around the house to the dog house (which he never uses) I forgot that the kitty food for the strays was in there (to protect it from the rain) and before I could do anything he had his nose in there and was a gobbling as fast as his throat could swallow.

So I grabbed him back and scolded him. We headed inside and he started to puke, but wasn't retching or anything. This happened twice (just a little bit each time) and there was a bunch of hair in there (does this go under the "too much information" category??) Yuk!!!

Anyway, I put him in his crate and we fell asleep for probably 2 to 2.5 hours. He woke me up with more strange noises so I took him back out of his crate and he bee-lined for the door. He was FRANTIC to get out. As soon as we got out the door he started eating grass voraciously...he could out eat a cow I think. That's when I got worried.

So I went back in, and called Mark. He advised me to call the vet so I did. They weren't really that helpful and said that as long as he wasn't really puking (he wasn't), no diaherria, wasn't acting lethargic that I should just keep an eye on him...but if I was REALLY worried that I could bring him. I said no, and would just keep an eye on him for a while.

Fast forward a few hours, and he seemed to be back to "normal" Whew! I put him out on his line (We only use it on occasion when we can't keep hold of his leash) and I proceeded to give my garden a drink. All of a sudden I clued in that he was much too quiet. I darted out back again, and what did I find?? I had put the kitty food up on the patio table on the far end, but SOMEHOW he had managed to get it again. I didn't even think that the line would stretch that far!!! He was gobbling it down so fast & furiously!!!

Now I'm scared again. I'm supposed to drive an hour away to meet Mark but I'm scared to go that far in the car. :( And we're staying overnight which means we will be that far away from our vet. :(

But like the vet said, as long as he's acting fine, there's no real concern and they wouldn't do anything anyway. I dunno...I guess I'm just being paranoid, but I'm still kind of scared anyway.

Sorry this is so long....it makes me feel better to type this out anyway.

Perhaps his tummy has been off a bit and he needed to eat? I know sometimes when my tummy is upset I feel better if I eat.

And I know that when any of mine are having problems, they head straight for the grass.

Were the strange noises coming form his tummy? Like, really loud possessed noises?

Sounds a lot like my RB labbie girl.

I'm pretty sure he'll be just fine. Probably gobbling the food down that fast gave him an upset tummy.

Thanks for the replies....

Mr. Malone is doin' just fine! :) I'm so happy!! I think it's like Aly said that he just gobbled too fast and it upset his system. He is still a little lethargic, but it's been really hot out, and I don't feel like doing much either! But he's eating/drinking/pooping/playing just fine. We DID end up going to meet Mark, and Malone didn't get sick or anything.

I think it's official....I'm paranoid

Glad Mr. Malone is fine.
