Is it bad?

Is caffeine really bad for dogs? Mickey somehow got to my dad's coffee cup and licked it. I heard its bad but I'm just wondering. Should he be okay? Thanks :)

btw ~ I know I keep asking stupid questions. I'm a first time dog owner, okay?! ;)

I read at a few places that caffeine is bad for dogs. Even if it isn't..who wants their dog up and running all night anyways?:D
I think mickster should be just fine..when I was alot younger, I had given my cousin's shitzu quite a bit of coke..she was fine.

A few licks from a coffee cup won't hurt him at all. If he had eaten a whole bag of coffee beans, that would be another matter!

My grandfather's bulldog shared coffee and doughnut with him every night before bed with no ill results, but he WAS a bulldog, and would eat all sorts of awful stuff!

Cody loved to partake in the last few sips of my java..cream and sweet n low a MUST! He would sit and watch me and drool like a fiend waiting. Not every day of course, but no harm done except that it made him pee more....that's why I learned not to do it all the time.... :rolleyes:

My beloved RB Lab Jingles LOVED sharing a cup of "joe" and a jelly doughnut every Sunday with Mom! (Just a taste!) And while I'm sure caffiene is not good for dogs, I don't think just a smidge every now and then would hurt. I occasionaly will let Star and Cody lick the apre' coffee ice cream bowl! ( Don't tell anyone I said that!;))

Six years ago I had an elderly Airedale named Scooter who really enjoyed his sweet tea and biscuts every morning. I don't think the caffine in the tea did anything but make him whiz more.;)
