I recently purchased a boxer puppy. She made boxer #3 in our home, only I am not so sure that she is full blooded. The older she gets, the more I am leaning to think she is a pit bull/boxer mix. Im going to put a pic of her and yall tell me what you think. It wont matter either way though! Shes our sweetie! :) Her face just isnt taking the boxer shape like my other boxies did? She could still be boxer, but one that will have a longer snout other than the pug snout.

OMG!! What a little cutie! It's hard to tell, but she may be mixed. She's beautiful! Here's a pic of my brindle boxer/pitty mix, Joxer. They could be twins but yours is more 'flashy'.

P.S. welcome to PT!

Joxer says 'thanks very much!'.

Does your little one have a docked tail? What makes you think she's mixed?

yea, I'd say she looks like a mix between a boxer and a pit bull like you said. Maybe you could call the breeder and ask? Or are her parents members of the AKC or CKC because I think you can buy family trees for your dog ( I think I'm not completley sure) hope I helped but she really is a cutie either way.:D

BoxyMama

Yes, she is docked. Her eyes and face shape make me think she might be a pit mix, to me her eyes resemble a pit's, along with her square longer snout. I guess its really going to be hard to tell until she gets larger. No, neither of her parents are registered. All of my other dogs are, but that doesnt really matter to me because I dont breed, she will be spayed soon.

Also she has realllllllly big feet! LOL Im not sure if that is a trait of a Pit or not. I have never owned a Pit. ?

Yep, sounds like some pit in her. With Joxer he he's beefier and has much thicker legs and bigger feet than the boxers. Ya know, he's the absolute nicest dog I've ever had! He has the more square head, also.

We had a boxer that had a longer snout who is now at Rainbow Bridge. :(
I look at Kaiden and think ok, shes a boxer because of all the boxer traits she carries, but then I think maybe shes not. I guess it is just a wait and see game. In the end it doesnt matter to me what she is, shes still our furbaby! :) Thanks for the input, hope to see you all around the boards!
You all have beautiful babies :D

My brother(human) had a huge nose when he was kid and then he grew into it. We love him too no matter what breed he is .Your baby is sooo adorable- besides long noses are aristocratic!!and large feet are a sign of intelligence.:D

I know nothing of either breed Re; the Boxer or the Pit, - as I have never owned one and never listen to gossip which is bad about any breed.
You were concerned about the lack of 'Pugness' ( if that can be a work for now)
In Australia, they are breeding the Australian Bulldog so as not have such 'Pugness'. As with the more pug the nose and face, the more breathing difficulties have become.............don't know if it is the same in Boxers..
The Australian Bulldog ( don't even know if it is a reg.Breed ) has less problems with skin irritations and breathing as it's counterpart, the British Bulldog.
Seeing the photo of the other person's ( sorry can't remember you name while writing this ) long nose Boxer, well I have to agree, it is very handsome also.
Maybe you have one of these? All big dogs have huge feet as pups!!! And, like you said, you will love it anyway.......those words mean a lot.

That is a lovely photo. What is the dog eating? It looks like a piece of fruit?
Someone told me that Boxers never grow up, they are pure puppy all their lives..........wouldn't that be nice?
Pugs are cute too....We had one when I was a kid, a black one.
I love them all.

jackson has a tennis ball in his mouth lol.

i have also heard that boxers never grow up (jackson is an exception) he is a VERY mature 2 year old, but all the other boxers i know are a little crazy still one is 3 years old lol and still act like a young pup.

oh i would love a dog that never grew up (maturity wise) it sure would make life more entertaining :D maybe i need a boxer lol

I own a Pit Bull, and have been researching pit bull/boxer mix's trying to decide if I should breed her with a boxer. There's an actual breed called Bull Boxer that was made an official breed in 1990 in the UK, and it's a combination of boxer and another bull breed usually pit bull or am-staff, and all the pictured of bull boxer's that I've seen, look just like your sweety pie. You can definately see the boxer in her body and ears, but the pit is all over her face. Don't fret though, pit bulls are made mean, not born mean. :D

What makes you think that she is a pit/boxer? Did you notice any unusul charactaristics os a pitbull, cuz it's hard to tell in the pict!

All I see is boxer. I don't know a lot about Boxer comformation, but I've seen a lot of rangy looking Boxers. Pit bulls can be very rangy in their appearance also. They all generally look the same, but some can be short and stocky, some leggy, some have shorter noses and others have longer skinnier noses.

Bullygirl,

With so many unwanted pets, purebred and mixed breed, young and old, dying in shelters by the millions every year in this country alone, why would you want to create more? A Bullboxer is just a mutt no matter what name is given to it. Just like Cockerpoos who are gaining recognition with the CKC. You can mix a Poodle and Cocker and get Cockerpoos once, but what are their offspring going to be? Same with Bullboxers? They may be cute, but what is the point in mixing the two to create a mutt, when there are plenty of homeless mutts with uncertain fates, including Pit Bull/Boxer mixes. Pit Bulls have a bad name that make it really hard to place into GOOD homes. What are you going to do if she has a litter of 13 pups that she doesn't want to take care of? And if you can't find homes for all of them? What if the pups end up in shelters because the homes weren't really good? How will you register these pups? There are a lot of shelters in this country that will not adopt out Pit Bulls and Pit mixes no matter what. Please do more homework on breeding. For each one of the puppies you may sell or place an equal number of puppies or dogs will die in a shelter because no one wanted them. Breeding is done to better the breed, not make money or create mutts with uncertain health problems or temperament problems. While Pit Bulls and Boxers are great dogs they both have their short comings also and you never know what you are getting when you mix the two. Will they have the best of both breeds or will they inherit the worst of both breeds?

I'm sorry if I got on my soap box, but too many people are breeding and not taking it seriously enough. Please leave the breeding to the experts.

I agree with this completely. There are TOO many dogs in the world and not enough owners. Bullygirl, take a trip to the local animal control or shelter, and watch the dogs be euthanized ... you'll change your mind about breeding.

I would say the dog in question is a purebred boxer. Some have longer noses than others. I board a purebred boxer that could be a twin of yours.

You never know how they are going to turn out until they are adults. Dogs can go through many growing stages and some offspring do not fully meet the breed standard and are usually sold with a pet contract that requires the new owners to have their pup altered.

Pit Bulls do not have extra large paws unlesss they are the mixed pits that get 80 lbs +. I have owned 2 and the largest was 65 lbs. Her paws were average in size.
