Lily's Journey to Canada

Ok, its official! Lily will be arriving to her new mommy next Thursday.. just a little over a week away. She's got a little adventure ahead of her on that 12 hour plane flight, but my sister will be with her to make she she's okay.

It seems like just yesterday when she came to me with her leg in such bad shape, the vet was afraid it would fall off or need to be amputated :( But she's made a 100% recovery and is a strong, active little kitten :) She's brought such joy and comfort into my life and I'm having a hard time imagining how it will be without her.

There are not many people I would send one of my fosters out of the country for, but I am HONORED for our very own ScantyNebula to be adopting Lily. I'm so happy she'll be staying in the Pet Talk family and soooooo excited to be able to see pictures of her growing up with her new big brother, Toby.

:D Just thought I'd start this thread so Johanna and I can keep you updated until she's home!

I am HONORED that you would let me adopt her, she's a beauty .. I can imagine how hard it must be for you to give her up, but it won't be all that bad, you'll still get to see her grow up! Trust me, I have literally hundreds of pictures of Toby on this computer .. so I will make sure to take that many of Lily for you!

Lily melted my heart from the very beginning when I saw her poor pawsie -and now she's a real beauty and in her pix looks like quite a handful:) .

And Toby is the sweetest looking boy here at PT -he has this special nose that just calls for kissing. I am so glad that they will be together now and that we can hear many stories about them.

Now...I can't believe I haven't seen this thread yet! 'Course I'm still getting caught up, but Toby getting a little sister! How exciting! And it's even more exciting because the little sister is Aly's own little Lily, who we've watched blossom and grow into a beautiful little girl.

Yipee! We get to watch Lily grow up! Yeah! Congratulations Johanna, and Aly, thanks so much for taking such good care of this little girl. She would not be the beautiful little Lily we know if not for you. :D

:D Yup, we have everything all ready. I'll be skipping work and school tomorrow to make sure she and my sister get on the plane okay. After she leaves, I'm going to take a shelter dog to Petsmart and the park to distract me so I don't worry about her being on the plane or get too sad without her.

I wish I could have gotten to you guys sooner but my cable has been out all day.

She is on the plane now and doing fine. My sister has called me four times already to assure me because I was not in the best of shape when I dropped them off :o I'm not worried about her, its just that I feel sad she won't be in my life anymore :( She was my little shadow, following me up and downstairs all day long. She also would always sit on the toilet seat and wait for me while I was in the shower.

My sister said she's playing in her carrier. I stuck her favorite toys in there with her so I guess she's having a ball. Johanna - her very favorite toy is the orange ball with the white feather on it. That will be in her carrier with her when my dad gives her to you. There's also some other ones in there. And in the side pocket of the carrier are a few more toys and some food you can mix in with her new food. Also, there's a folder for you with all of her vet records, rabies tag, and an envelope for you :) Then my dad also has a bag that I sent with him for you to have. Hope you like whats in it :)

My sister isn't letting Lily out of her sight. She has specific instructions to even take her in the bathroom STALL if she has to go to the bathroom at the airport. My dad and sister are going to call me tonight when they get in so they can tell me how Lily is. I'll post even though it'll be 2 or 3am Newfoundland time. There's three hours difference in our time zones. That means right when I'm getting home from school tomorrow, Lily will probably already be in your hands! :eek: :D

You guys may think I'm crazy, but I am positive Lily knew she was leaving to her new home. All day yesterday, she stuck to my lap, purring and loving on me. I swear it was like she was saying goodbye and that she'd be okay. She didn't even wanna play with Skylar until I went to bed. I love that girl.

Thankfully I've been keeping busy because I had to rush Lolly to the vet. She's just having bad allergies, so nothing serious. Skylar is already driving me nuts. Since Lily's not here to play, he's taken to getting tangled in the computer cords.. silly boy.

But she will be in your life yet, Aly. You can continue to watch her grow and go through all her trials and tribulations here on PT. Johanna takes wonderful pics, and I'm sure she'll be taking many of them of Lily. Yes, it won't be the same as having her right there with you, but you'll still be able to see her and she'll still be in your life. So please don't feel so bad. :( You have a wonderful heart, and before you know it there will be another tyke in need and you'll be able to say yes, I can help.

Wow! Thanks for the update, Aly. I'm confident that Lily will do great in her new home with her new meowmie and brother! This has got to be the sweetest story, of a fostered PT baby going to a permanent PT home! What a great Foster mom you are. I can imagine how hard it is to give up the fosters after spending so much time with them, caring for them and loving them. You are an angel. I can't wait to hear about her arrival. It will be soon!

Sorry I missed all this, I was out shopping for Toby and Lily. I got them a special gift .. I'll post that in another thread. Ohh I'm getting all weepy here .. Aly that was such a sweet post .. I'm so happy to be getting Lily, yet I feel your pain .. I know this must be so hard - there's really nothing I can say to make you feel better only I promise I will let you see her grow up! Maybe someday you will visit Newfoundland, who knows?? :)

I am so glad that Lily is in good hands on her flight to NFLD .. she will arrive safe and sound! Oh my I will never sleep tonight!! I just might get to see that 2 am post you are going to write! ;)

My mom mentioned to me today that maybe I could go see my dad sometime and visit Lily :) I'm not sure how long my dad is staying.. I think at least 2 months.

I forgot to tell you one other thing I sent. In her carrier, under the bed is a towel. Thats one of the towels I used to hold her in when I bottle fed her (I kept the other one). So you can keep that if you're a sentimental, emotional sap like me :) Eeeep here come the tears again.

I'm going to tell my dad to call you at 4pm tomorrow to make arrangements. Or should I tell him to call earlier?

Toby loves to get up and stick his nose in the hole and pat at the side of the bowl .. I will introduce Lily to Mr.Henry. He's my sweet little fishie. He's over a year old. :)

Shiloh does that too. She acts soooo innocent after she sends something crashing to the floor. She'll yawn and look over at me like "pick that up so I can knock it over again!".

Lily doesn't push things off counters so much as pick up random pieces of trash and run around the room like a mad woman. She does love the fish food though!

I just talked to my sister. They are at the hotel and Lily is running around playing. I imagine she's going to keep them up all night after all the rest she got during the trip today, hehe :) My sister said she was purring and happy during the WHOLE trip :eek: I am so surprised. I thought for sure she would not like that. She told me that Lily has already run around and checked out every square inch of the hotel room. She was chewing the phone cords while I was talking so my sister let me talk to her on the phone :)

My dad has a conference call at 2 tomorrow so he'll call you when he's done with that.

I told my sister I had to come write an update and she said to tell everyone that Lily is just "peachy".

I am shaking, I'm so happy and relieved. Aaaahh, I can't see through the tears.

Oh boy. This is not good. I got woke up 6:30 this morning because my throat is extremely sore. I have no clue where this came from .. I can barely swallow it hurts so much. I can't go to work - I have to go to the hospital soon. I will demand for medication that will work right away!

Ugh thanks guys. Ok so I just got back from the hospital - with no succes at all. There were 10 or more of us waiting ... and I was there for 2 hours - not one of us got called to see a doctor. I got fed up and left. So now I am going to a clinic in an hour .. I need to get something to just numb the pain, then I'll be fine.

I can't really say how I will be feeling in several hours, a bad flu may hit me in hours .. or it may not at all - which is what I am hoping for. I will let you know how I am doing Rosemary.

Alyson - I really can't see me being too sick to go pick her up, I just have pain in my throat, I'm not stay at home sick. So instead of going to work all day I have to spend the whole day going back and forth between hospitals! oh my ..

I just got back from the doctor .. I've got stuff for my sore throat .. I've taken lots of vitamin C, looks like I just got a sore throat, I didn't need medicaiton. Anyway I am feeling much better. Fresh air did me good. :)
