Is there a certain color of dog that pulls at your heart strings? For instance I LOVE Tan/Brown dogs. I don't know why... I'm just such a sucker for Tan colored fur dogs. Lol....

So whats your color? :p ;)

No I honestly can't say that a dog's color is what makes me fall in love. I have had all poodles in my adult life and have had them in every color that they come in. :) What draws me to a dog is the look in their eyes and of course the wag of their tail. :)

Lol... i don't know why though.... I like orange/tan cats too. Maybe it's because they photograph well? :p

anything that matches the rugs is what my dad used to say! I'm a softy for spotted tummies(wire fox terriers) and black and tan looks so regal-also blends in with the carpet!

i don't know if their is a favorite color, but their are some colors that catch my attention; like merle, ticked, spots, etc...

Having three dogs of different colors, I can't fairly answer that question, but I do like dogs with more than one color!! I'm always looking to see the different patterns on beagles, for example!!

I'm more drawn to unusual markings vs. a specific color,
which is probably why I'm not as drawn to Labs...

I like orange/tan cats too. Maybe it's because they photograph well
Oh you are right there... Having Murph with light colored
fur... Maddie with dark colored fur... and Oz with sable and
white fur... There's no doubt Oz is a whole lot easier to
photograph... Maddie is the hardest to photograph. A lot
of times it's hard to tell which end is her head and which
is her rear, because her eyes and nose blend into her
fur.

I really seem to like the deep reds, or all brown dogs. And things like blue merle or red merle I also REALLY like!

I love sable or tan colored dogs. Color is part of the reason we choose Mickey. (that's part of the reason ;)) Crazy markings usually help too. :)

I have to say, the Blue Merle Collie I had was handsome. The Silver Sable G.S.D. girl was so pretty. The Black/Tan G.S.D. boy was such a beauty. The Blue Bedlington was a dream. The Blue Heelers were a treat. All the Merry Mixtures were fun. ......and all my many Poodles in black or white were my heart. Now I have another cross and she is just off white........tell me - which could I chose out of all of them? If they were purple with orange spots, and I had the pleasure of owning them, I would love them.

It really is not the colour, but the relationship you make with the animal....the bond that is unbreakable.

Oh, I have had heaps of cats too.
Regards Mich.

I love all the colors. I'm owned by 3 sable shelties, but their all different colors :) One is a bright sable, one a heavy dark shaded sable and the youngster is a sable color headed white! It's just which pup picks me.

Af riend of my husband thinks we are against dogs having color, since ours are all black and white (aren't those colors?!?) I love all dogs, but for some reason, I am drawn to the "tuxedo" dogs and spotties :)

Yes, the reds in the Ridgebacks. the reds in the Red Heeler. Also the Staffy and I could go on. The red dog is a nice looking dog. Never had one, closest was one of the heelers was a cross between a red and a blue.

One of my friends took that picture at the newspaper office. I thought it was too cute! We go to the newspaper office here in town once a week and they have dog biscuits for August and Walter. They just have to sit for their treat!

I am a sucker for black and white, but any colour as long as it is NOT solid colour is fine with me, I dont find Labs appeling because they only come in solid colour I hate solid colour, particularly on a big dog, Ripley is solid black but he is small and cute, and I love hime to peices but my friend has 2 dogs both solid colour one big one small, I like the small one a LOT more the the large one:eek: lol I prefer medium to large dogs though, so any pattern is fine with me lol border collie pattens lol that si what I like lol:p

bnormal - Hope you don't mind me asking, but are your Dobes' ears cropped? Or did you rescue them with cropped ears...thanks :)

bnormal
07-08-2003, 09:19 AM
primabella, no problem. Callihan we got from a breeder and we had his ears cropped. Mitchy we got from the Doberman Rescue of Columbus and they had his ears cropped.

It surprised me that they did this. They told me that Dobe puppies are easier to place with adopters if their ears are already cropped...kind of crazy isn't it?

However, when I think about it I realize that when I got Callihan, who was my first Dobe, I initially loved the look of the breed and that played a part in my getting his ears cropped. Now after having Callihan, Quincey and Mitchell it isn't the look I love but the dog I love. So for me cropped ears doesn't matter one way or the other. Though I don't believe it is an ethical or moral issue.

:D :D :D

Oh okay, thanks for answering. I find the Dobe looks so ... elegant (good word?) with cropped ears, although I prefer them natural. Either way is fine as long as you still get the same doggie personality :D
