I came to work one day and found this note for me from one of my boss's tenants.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid65/pc30b9cbd1e8aa6cac1cb52b095e07676/fbe76bfe.jpg

I picked him/her up this morning and have an appt at the vets in about an hour. He/she is the sweetest kitty. Loves being petted and purrs instantly. The tenant thinks some neighbors moved and left him/her...I'm going to call him "he" for convenience's sake, but I'll find out in an hour whether "he's" really a she or a fixed he. ;) He has been living on their back porch for about a month now. He seems to stay close, and spend most of the day sleeping on their porch, but they wanted to find a good home for him. They can't take him because there are already two doggies living there that don't get along. I'm going to be keeping him in the office until I find a home for him. And staying in the office permanently isn't a good option since there is no one here in the evenings and all weekend.

I'm trying to get in touch with a local no-kill organization to help get him placed, PAWS (http://www.pawschicago.org) I can see how people can feel the kitties like being outdoors because he has not stopped meowing and trying to get out since I brought him in here about an hour ago. :( He has already jumped up on my desk and gave me head bumpies, but I can tell he is scared and wants to get out and back to familiar territory. But that's not going to happen if I can help it. ;) :)

Here are a few more pics I took. If anyone needs a loving kitty, please let me know. Sara, with his coloring, he'd be a perfect match for Edwina? ;) :)

The best pic I've gotten so far.

Scared and meowing.

Scared, but cute kitty.

Checking the place out, notice the swishing tail.

He has now stopped meowing long enough to eat a few bites. :)

I'll show his picture to Don tonight. But an outdoor kitty with the busy street we live on and the raccoons!!!.....

Good try. ;) :D

And Sara, you probably know that I would prefer he be an indoors only kitty - except on a leash or harness - but speaking of busy streets......it's amazing that he has survived this long on North Ave (near Western)!

Just got back from the vet. He's a neutered male, all claws intact, about 3 - 4 years old, and tested negative for FELV and FIV. Yeah! :D She didn't give him any vaccines because she thought that since he was neutered, he might have gotten them already. She told me to watch him for a week. If he didn't start sneezing or anything, she said I should bring him back in and they would vaccinate him.

He meowed the whole way to the vet (about 10 blocks) and all the way back, and most of the time we were there. They also dewormed him, clipped his claws and cleaned his ears - all for no charge. :D I had to fight a little to get him in the carrier. At one point he put his paw around my neck. I thought "Well, here come the scratches I've been waiting for." But he just ever so slightly extended just one claw (that I felt) and immediately withdrew it, even though he was still struggling. So even though he has claws, and has been outside, he knows to be gentle with them - what a sweetie.

I opened the carrier as soon as we got back in the office, and he came out and immediately went into my boss's office and under the drafting table. I think it's nap time now. :)

Now I need to come up with a name. I've been thinking Buddy or Buster, but that seems so common. I was hoping to come up with something that would reflect his sweetness, but also hint at his braveness while living on the streets......

Anybody looking for a sweet boy kitty? ;) :D

Also, I was wondering about Petfinder.com. Can I, as an individual, put an ad there or does it have to go through some organization? I haven't had time to check it out yet. My boss is being very generous in letting me keep him here in the office until we find a home, so I don't want to push my luck by spending all day researching organizations on the phone and internet. Any other suggestions to help me find him a good home are most welcome! ;) :)

Oh Debbie, he's so sweet it's hard to believe! The expression on his face!! It must be the sweetest face I've seen for a long time! I just can't believe anyone could leave him behind!!

I'm glad that he's been neutered and tested negative for FELV and FIV.

Debbie, you're an angel for helping him! :) I wish you could keep him! If I lived close, I'd take him - I wouldn't be able to resist! He deserves a loving family for sure!! :)

Lots of hugs to you and nosescritchies to him! Good luck finding the right place for him!

Welll...that's why I want to find him a good home. Here in the office is better than being on the street - in my opinion of course - but it's not the best because I can't be here at night or on the weekends for him. :( He deserves much more attention than that, so hopefully I'll find a good home real soon. I'll have to give him extra food and water and stop in when I can. My boss does come in sometimes on Saturdays, so he'll have to help out a little too on the weekends when I'm out of town or something.

He looks a little bit like my Logan.
I thought so too. :D It's the eyeliner that does it I think.

I also think in the one picture he looks a lot like Jupiter - if he were orange. ;) His facial expression reminds me of a pic of Jupiter. :D

I've now sent emails to every organization that came up when I did a search on petfinder.com. Hopefully at least one or two of them will answer. It sounds like they are all full, but since they already have a foster home for him (me) I'm hoping they are more willing to help out.

He has been quietly sleeping in my boss's office since we got back from the vet. I went to the bathroom, and was surprised to see he had used the litter box, and was very neat about it too. :) So far he's been a real good boy. :)

Oh, he is adorable!!!!! Can't Tubby and Peanut open their hearts to one more?

As to names, I like the name Edwardo...or Eddie.....

You know, it wouldn't be a horrible life to live at the office...how is it much different than those of us that work, and leave our kitties at home all DAY? And, the weekends? Well, if your boss comes in on Saturdays.....maybe someone could stop in for an hour on a Sunday? It beats the streets.

T & P...and D (Debbie) would love to open their hearts to one more....unfortunately big T (Terry) has laid down the law and according to him "Two cats are enough in this house." :( Found that out when I tried my best to get him to relent and let me get Tubalina. Almost had him, but he just wouldn't back down, so I haven't even attempted a stab at bringing this one home. :(

I also like Edwardo.....goes soooo good with Edwina.....;) :D

And I agree about the office not being the worst place - and definitely beats the streets. I would love to have some company everyday, so we'll see how things go. If a good home doesn't materialize, the office it is. ;) :) My boss isn't thrilled with the idea of having him here because we have to turn the motion sensor off on the alarm, but he was making "clucky" noises to him to try and get him to come out when he was here today. I think he's one of those guys that is a real softy at heart, but doesn't let it show through too much.

I got one response so far on my emails and she said she sent it to all the rescue organizations she knew of, so the word is getting out. I'm going to make up some flyers also, and contact some of the organizations in my home neighborhood too.

And PayItForward and PaysForIt....I see a new face in your signature! Guess I've got a lot of catching up to do to see how just one more made it into your home after the "3 is enough" phase. ;) :D

Re.New Cat.

I would take cat home for the weekend. Tell Terry, the boss won't let him stay unsupervised for so long. If you can get new cat and Terry to play together over the weekend. Once he thinks keeping kitty is HIS idea, you have won !!!

I just saw this thread.

When you said you didn't know if it was a boy or girl, I said: Oooh, just let me see a picture.

My immediate response was: Male
Then I considered it again, but decided to stay with: Male.
(it was the best picture that convinced me)

I know I have NO proof to my divinations. Because it was revealed shortly after that he is a boy.
(I like to play the gender guessing game with the COTD)

Anyway, he looks so sweet and grateful to you.

Thanks for helping out a boy.

Good Luck Debbie - he's one wonderful furboy isn't he? What an adorable face with a lovely pink nose - ah!

I know just what you mean with Big T - Big D's the same - 'Three cats are enough for anyone ' - I keep telling him I'm NOT anyone - he just doesn't listen!

I reckon being very sneaky and taking 'Braveheart' home for the week-end as PIF suggested - may be the way to do it!!

I'm keeping all fingers crossed here (and there are three cats walking about with paws entwined!!) for a really good result.

LOL. You'll talk him around one day and when you do, I call for photos (A small truck worth)

Me & PaysForIt have the opposite problem, we encourage each other too much (in regards to specific cats not just to HAVE another)

In fact the only sticking point was Treacle. i.e. Three is our limit. Once you get past three cats, introductions get very easy and what does one more matter.

By THIS point you are known as the mad cat people and people start asking you about helping them with their cat problems. This is how we found out about Bramble's Mum & siblings.

Thanks everyone. :D

After I took him to the vet yesterday, he hid the rest of the afternoon. This morning when I came in, his food was gone and he had used the litter box, but he was still hiding under the draft table. I gave him some fresh food and water, talked to him for a bit and reached under the table to pet him. He started purring as soon as I touched him, but wouldn't come out. After about 1/2 hour or so, he eventually crept out, took a nice long drink and
came out by me for a bit. He is now back under the draft table, but looks much more relaxed. I'm sure he'll soon realize that he's safe and come out for good - although I don't mind that he's under the table because then I don't have to worry about him getting out when my boss comes and goes - which is something I'm going to have to figure out when he comes out for good.

I've gotten a total of 3 responses so far to my emails to rescue groups. One offered to put him on their website and Petfinder. I am also willing to transport him up to a few hundred miles if necessary, which will hopefully help in getting him adopted.

So many good suggestions for names. I've been calling him Dirty Paws because his paws are dirty (real original, I know  ) but this morning I came up with Dirty Harry because he is dirty and I have to wash my hands after everytime I pet him, and he is shedding like crazy! The vet said that cats "throw their hair" when they're stressed, so I'm thinking that's why he seems to be losing so much. Isn't Dirty Harry the one that said "Go ahead, make my day" ? This kitty could really "make someone's day" because he is just such a sweety pie. :D

I would like to give him a bath, but he seemed upset after the vet trip - like he didn't trust me anymore - so I'm going to hold off on the bath thing - and hopefully he'll start cleaning himself up a bit now that he's inside.

I actually got to work way early this morning because I was worried about him. I had all these horrible visions in my mind of things that could have happened to him overnight, and if/when my boss came in and he got out. Thankfully he was under the drafting table - right where I left him. :)

I've tried Wayne's way of testing kitties by touching their paws, and he has no problem with that. In fact, when I touch his paws his pushes his head into my hand and wants more and more attention. :D

He is such a sweet guy that I'm sure we'll find a good home for him soon.

Oh, and another new face! Sky, welcome to your furrever home. Can't wait to hear the whole story about how you joined the "weather" home of kittyland. ;) :D

We went on our after dinner walk last night. (They are always easier to deal with once fed.) I said...."Pettalk Debbie found a cat." That is all we have talked about since then (alright...a little bit about my job situation, but that is another story.)

Don even woke me up this morning talking about Eduardo (he doesn't like the name Butch either.) Back and forth, back and forth. We asked Edwina for her input but she was silent.

That is the only concern. She is such a princess -- how would she accept another cat???? Oh how I wish I knew the answer!

How big is Eduardo? Don thought he looked rather large in the photo. (I.E. could Edwina beat him up or would he beat up Edwina?)

Also, did you call the folks at Red Door? (They are still working on the expansion by the way and haven't had the Open House yet.) They are at Western and Lunt.

Vio&Juni
06-18-2003, 09:54 AM
E's S, there one way to find out the answer. She may be a princess, but, who knows, maybe Eduardo is a prince, Edwina's prince?

How I wish this could happen!!!

OMG, Sara! That would be sooo wonderful if you could take him. He's 11 lbs right now. He seems to be big boned, and will probably gain some weight once he is fed on a regular basis, but somehow I get the feeling that Edwina would put him in his place within the first few hours, and that will be the end of that. ;) :D He seems to be real meek, but that could be because he is still scared. He has been hiding under the drafting table all morning. I finally coaxed him out for a little bit while my boss was here (first time my boss has seen him other than hiding). Eduardo warmed up to me, and when my boss knelt down, Eddie rubbed all over him, but as soon as my boss stood up, poor Eddie ran back under the table - scared. :( It's amazing to me that he survived on the streets at all. Everytime he is out, he slinks real low like he's ready to run everytime he hears a loud noise. And the noises are all street noises, which you would think he'd be familiar with.

I did send the Red Door people an email, haven't heard back from them yet. I've heard from Another Chance Pet Rescue - Elmhurst, Felines, Inc. - Chicago, Harmony House for Cats - Chicago, and Wright Way Rescue - Chicago. I do understand that most of the rescue orgs are inundated with unwanted pets so I'm not surprised I haven't heard from more of them, but I just emailed them yesterday too, so I'm surprised I've already received these 4 replies.

And as for Edwina accepting Eduardo, well, like Vio & Juni says, how will you know until you try? ;) :) If you wanted to, I could drop him off Friday evening on my way home and you could do a "test run" over the weekend. If it looks like it'll work out, he can stay (?) and if not, I'll pick him up either Monday on my way to work or Monday evening depending on your hours. If it doesn't work out, Edwina will think it's just another irritating visitor (like her doggie buddies ;) ) and get over it real quick, and if it works out, we'll have Princess Edwina and Prince Eduardo to dote over here at PT. :D

However, seeing as he seems to be rather shy/scared, if I bring him Friday evening, you might not see him all weekend and Edwina won't even know he's there. ;) :D

It would be so wonderful if you could take him, but please know that I'm not trying to pressure you in anyway and I would understand completely if you decided against it....but if you ask anybody here at PT, Edwina definitely needs a friend, right everybody? (no pressure, yeah right!) ;) :D

My boss is definitely a softie. Here's a "toy" he rigged up, hoping to get Eduardo to come out of his shell and play a bit. It didn't work because either Eduardo doesn't know how to play, or he is still unsure of himself in his new environment.

I went to Petsmart during lunch and spent more money on him. I think I've spent more money on him in the last two days then I've spent on T & P in the last 10 years! ;)

Since he does have his claws, I thought a catnip scratcher might be a good thing to make him feel more comfortable - and help him to not even get started on my bosses desk. My desk is metal so I wasn't worried about that. ;) He adores the scratcher, and is laying on/by it right now, half falling asleep.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid65/p45393fdb77e28271cfe38581fccd2b6f/fbe51729.jpg

Oh, and I think he's a drooler because the cardboard looked a little wet when he got done. And I also bought a brush to help clean him up a bit, and I didn't realize it at the time, but my hand was a little wet when I got done brushing him. :D

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid65/p51eef7995d99f15bdc69d271cf1a6a1c/fbe51727.jpg

And then he got comfortable for a little more cleaning time.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid65/pb9d23f42c015632c3d959eb230cbe770/fbe51725.jpg

Then the gas man came to the door, so I shooed him back into my boss's office so he wouldn't run out the door. He hid under the table again until the gas man was gone. Then I called to him and he answered - he's quite the talker. I kept calling and he kept answering, but wouldn't come out. So I peeked my head around the wall, and he was peeking his head out the door - sooo cute - but I didn't get a pic (drat!). He looked a lot like the very first pic I saw of him from the tenants. He did come out when he saw me, came over for some pets, then went back to his scratcher. After I wrote the part above about him laying on/by it, I turned around and this is what I saw.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid65/p2643bd7c62fadd681aee046fad36f819/fbe50ead.jpg

So I called to him and he came this time, talking the whole time. I had to answer the phone, and when I turned around, this is what I saw.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid65/p93aae86156cabbf782d4895a504e09a0/fbe4fdea.jpg

I pet him a little and got this.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid65/p72677311ee7c6fee6cac646c4f001612/fbe4fde4.jpg

And this
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid65/p0dc4867190e53032655b0ac53bf4b212/fbe4fdde.jpg

Then he went and sat on his scratcher - goofy kitty.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid65/p9b041ed1843de4def8929109c791aab5/fbe4fdd8.jpg

And took a gander at the "toy" my boss rigged up. Didn't know what to make of it, so he went back to "his" office to take another nap.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid65/pc48bcbac7edcede1600e357e3368f33b/fbe4fdd3.jpg

He really seems to be sleeping a lot. I think he was up part of the night last night because the white door has paw marks all over it like he was trying to get to the window to see out (the window is about 3' from the floor). I had also put a piece of cardboard in the mail slot to block him from trying to get out that way, and the cardboard was on the floor this morning when my boss came in, so Eduardo must have got it out somehow. I'm sooo glad he is too big to fit through the mail slot, or he wouldn't be here right now.

Anyway, I'm hoping he's sleeping a lot because he knows he's safe and is catching up on a month of little to no sleep. Occassionally I'll call to him, he'll come out for a minute or two, then back to "his" office for another nap. Also, my boss is gone, so the lights are off in his office so I think that makes Eddie feel a little safer too.

Ok, gotta go to work now. Hope you all enjoy the pics! :D

Oh, and Sara, Kristen from Red Door called. She said they have a waiting list for kitties to get into their shelter, but that I should send her a pic and they will put him on the website and maybe show the pic to people if they don't find what they're looking for when they look over the kitties that are already in the shelter. So I'll be emailing her a pic and brief bio. :D

He's gorgeous Debbie. Thanks for the great pics. :D I also agree that Edwina needs a brother. If Edwina's Secretary did accept your offer to keep him over the weekend, I don't think that this would be long enough for any one to tell if Edwina would get along with another cat. My cats accept other cats fairly easily and it takes them a minimum of a week unless it's a kitten. I sure hope that something will work out for this big sweetheart of a cat. :)

I just wanted to say what a sweetie Eduardo is! He does look huge!! I hope he finds a home soon! I would love to have another cat, but I really don't think Cameo could adjust to one! I am willing to try, but she saw one out the window and she went into a FIT! There's this huge cat at Petsmart here (looks alot like Eduardo) and I want him so so bad! But I am afraid to get them together because I am afraid that one would hurt the other!

I do have a comment/question (whatever you wanna call it :) )

I would like to give him a bath, but he seemed upset after the vet trip - like he didn't trust me anymore - so I'm going to hold off on the bath thing - and hopefully he'll start cleaning himself up a bit now that he's inside.

Has anyone ever tried those little "bath cloths" that they sell at Petsmart? I was wondering if this would help his shedding and "dirty paws" as you called it. ;) I bought some for Cameo, because it seemed like she was shedding faster than I could brush her, and I didn't want to make her skin sore from brushing her so much. These worked pretty good for me, but I was wondering if anyone else had used them.

Well, that's all for me! Good Luck Tubby & Peanut's Mom! Good Luck Eduardo! You are certainly a ham for the camera!!

I came in this morning, and Eduardo was under the drafting table again. I think he likes it under there. :)

So he realized I was here and came out - but wouldn't come into my office. So I went to my boss's office to see what he was up to. I think I interrupted a bath. :) But when he saw me, he immediately started rubbing against a chair, then went over to his water. We don't have any bowls around here, so I improvised - knowing kitties like drinking out of glasses anyway, and gave him an old coffee cup to drink out of. Well, he went over to the glass, sniffed it.....then dipped his paw in! I thought I had another Peanut on my hands  but he just dipped once then started drinking. He didn't sniff his paw or lick it or anything after dipping, but still had to dip first. Silly kitty. ;) :D

Ok, unfortunately I can't spend all day taking pics and posting them here again....I've gotta get some work done or my boss is going to say the cat has got to go.

So the last pics for the day.....maybe. ;) :D

Eduardo will come out by me, but unless I constantly pay attention to him he always went back into my boss's office to hide. So I'm sitting here on the computer, calling to him. He answers me but doesn't come out. I keep calling, he keeps answering, but no show. So I stop calling. About 15 minutes later, I start calling again. No answer this time. I call a few more times and still no answer. I turn around to get up and go see what he's doing and look what I saw.

:D :D

This chair is behind me when I'm on the computer, but is only about 5 feet away from me. I don't know when he came out, but he sure is quiet when he wants to be. ;) :D

I talked to him a little, went over and petted him, came back to my desk and when I turned around again.....
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid66/p334075947d214f2a9a4b7dd12306b8c2/fbe37efc.jpg
:D :D

He seems so timid and shy, and afraid of the front office here, but....I had mentioned that I tried to block the mail slot so he wouldn't get out and he ripped the cardboard out of it - but thankfully couldn't get out. Well last night I put the cardboard back in, and covered the whole thing with some paper taped around all the edges so he'd have to tear the paper to get to the cardboard to get to the mail slot. Sooo.....this morning I come in and the paper is in shreads and the cardboard is out of the slot again. So I know he's got a side to him that really wants to get out at night. I'm thinking it's because he was probably most active at night while he was out. I try and keep him awake during the day so he sleeps at night, and I was hoping the scratcher thing would help keep him occupied, but the shreaded paper is evidence that he can't hide. Don't know what I'm going to rig up tonight - especially since I have to leave early and he'll be here alone for a longer time period.....any suggestions? I could close him in my boss's office, but I guess I'd rather not do that unless absolutely necessary. The good news is that he doesn't fit through the mail slot, but I have all sorts of horrible visions of him trying and getting stuck......:(

No suggestions about the mail slot, but I just wanted to say it's great that he is slowly coming out of his shell.

Take him home overnight, tell Terry it is too prevent him getting stuck in the letterbox over night. Poor Kitty.

Mention that E's S will probually adopt him, so he KNOWS you haven't got any ideas about keeping him (He He).

Take him home, you know you want to

Well....I asked Terry, and unfortunately there is no way this sweetie is coming home with me - even if it is only at night and with the intention that I'll still look for a home for him. :( :( Sometimes he just makes me soooo mad. :(

I found some heavier paper to cover the mail slot last night - legal size file folders to be exact. Must have worked because they are still intact this morning - yeah! :D As soon as I came in he started meowing to me, but wouldn't come out of "his" office until he saw me. Then he was all over me, rubbing and looking for pets. I took a few pics and some small videos which I'm working on now, and will post real soon.

Right now - and for the past 15 minutes or so - he has been laying on the floor next to me, belly wide open, in the cutest pose, but unfortunately I ran my batteries dead with the earlier pics and videos and my spare battery is at home - drat! He's got such a soft looking tummy, but when I go to rub it, he pushes his head into my hand like he wants his head petted and not his tummy rubbed - have to break him of that habit. ;) :D Especially if he's going to keep offering his tummy up like that. ;) :D

Tubby & Peanut's Mom

I'm testing a video here. It's kind of weird because it looks almost like he's in water the way the pic is wavy, but I think that's because I tried to make it small. The bigger one I have doesn't do that.

In the beginning you can see him doing "happy feet" in the air :D and then he actually reaches for my hand to bring it to him to pet him. How sweet is that! :D He's resting now on one of the green chairs that I posted a pic of yesterday.

I got a call from a rescue org that works only with fosters, so they are going to put his pic and bio up on their website. They said they get a few hundred hits a day on it, and the fact that I'm willing to transport him will help - especially since there are so many kittens these days that the 3-4 year olds often get overlooked.

Another one called yesterday and said they are all full now, but if adoptions go well this weekend they may be able to take him in next week sometime. I didn't want to turn him in to a shelter, but they sound like a really good one - no kill and they make follow up calls and everything, so that might be an option also since I'm not getting much emotional support from either Terry or my boss on this. With Terry, it's like I can't even mention Eddie's name and he gets all defensive, and my boss just keep making comments like...I'll say "Don't let the cat out." and he'll come back with "Why not?" Or I'll say "Close the door so the cat doesn't get out." and he'll say "So, then he'll be gone and we won't have to worry about him anymore." He's a softy, but....

So anyway, this is Eddie's new favorite spot.

About Terry and your two cat rule, it could be worse, my husband has the one cat rule.:(
I hope that years from now after Samantha has lived a full, long, happy life
that maybe I can make a deal of getting two small cats that would be the same as one big one.;)
Good luck in finding a new home for your office cat, I noticed that he color coordinates well with the rug so any shedded fur will blend right in. :)

Please can we have an update. I want to know how things are going. :D

Oh, yeah. You may find that your furkids may fight a little at the start. If there is no claws out, let them have it out. It helps them settle down faster.

Introducing George to Milly was the hardest intro but when I look back I see I made things worse. I used to rush over and pick up George everytime Milly slapped or hissed at him.

I have learnt if there is no blood, let the furkids sort things out on their own.

Though you may be lucky and have an dead easy intro (fingers crossed)

Oh. Photos, Photos. :D

Another Pet Talk success story - Edwina and her new friend will be getting along nicely before you know it.

My old housemate adopted a second cat whilst I was living there. Like Eddie, the new cat Mini hid in the basement for ages. She also fought with the resident, Maxi. The two cats do not cuddle up to each other or anything like that, but they have learnt to tolerate each other and are usually quite civil. It just takes time.

Come on, Eddie, come out come out wherever you are! :D

Have you found him yet? Hopefully he doesn't make himself too scarce. He is a little shy, so if he hasn't come out yet, if you sit quietly on the floor and call to him, he might come out. Worked for me anyway.

In my opinion this

Meanwhile...Edwina is refusing to acknowledge anything unusual going on.....
is the best news yet! If she is just going about her daily business, she must not be bothered by the fact that there is another cat living in her basement. :D

Sara seemed a little embarrassed by the dust bunnies, but I think it's cute when kitties have cobwebs and dust bunnies stuck to their whiskers. Sometimes Tubby will come up from the basement with spiderwebs stuck to his whiskers, and I just laugh and ask him what sorts of goodies he found down there. :D

And Edwina is even cuter in person - even when she's hissing and shooting daggers from her eyes. :D I was holding Eduardo in the carrier and Sara picked up Edwina to see what kind of reaction she'd have. Nothing at first, but then all of a sudden the hissing and growling started. After that, even though Eduardo was safe in the basement, I think Edwina still associated me with him and that's why she hissed. She's so cute with her little harness on, with the bell on it that tinkles everytime she moves. I could here her tinkling on over to where we were standing when I first got there. :D

And as long as Edwina allows it, the only problem I could see having Eduardo there is that he might not know how to act in such fine surroundings! I'm sure it was probably art students that had him before (there's a lot of them in my neighborhood at work) so I'm sure his dwellings were typical grungy student apartment style, then he was in the alley, so a lovely house with a beautiful backyard and screen porch might be beyond his compression right now. :D

I'll be checking back tomorrow sometime, so I hope he appears and everything starts going a little more smoothly. Sara, you just gotta remember that he's shy and probably still scared, so patience and slow quiet movements are best right now until he gets a little more familiar with you, Don, Edwina and his surroundings. Good luck and Eddie....BEHAVE!

How big is Eduardo? Don thought he looked rather large in the photo. (I.E. could Edwina beat him up or would he beat up Edwina?)
We all know now!! :D

He's 11 lbs right now. He seems to be big boned, and will probably gain some weight once he is fed on a regular basis, but somehow I get the feeling that Edwina would put him in his place within the first few hours, and that will be the end of that.
Boy, did I have things nailed down right from the beginning or what? ;):D

I would say the only thing I got wrong was the part about "that will be the end of that" since she still puts him in his place every chance she gets. ;):D

5 years on - thanks again, Sara, for taking a chance on a sweet loving boy, who has only gotten in.....oh....a smidgeon of trouble since coming "home." :D
