I have noticed that one of my boys is having very small bowel movements...kitty constipation?? Can anyone advise of a "natural" laxative...or a good product on the market? Thanks so much....

You could pick up some Laxatone at almost any petstore.

Maybe it's a language problem but do you talk about the amount of poop? It can be quite different. Little Filou produces more than big Tigris. If kitty goes regularly and eats well then maybe nothing is wrong?

Thanks, Ladies...Barbara...it is the size...definetly smaller, harder little things than his normal so I'm pretty sure we're talking kitty constipation. I'll try some laxatose.

When my cats get constipated, I just let them kick a little butter off of my finger. It works great, just enough for a normal poop, without any diarreah!
Good luck!

Patycat welcome to the forum. Just about anything you want to know about cats can be found, either in old posts, or in the knowledgable recounts of our faithful friends on the Pet Talk board.
Sometimes my cats want outside in order to eat grass. So, instead of letting them out, I bring in a few cuttings of green, tender crabgrass for them, as this type appears to be what they eat while outside. I know that it helps them digest food, and also allows them to barf up any indigestible food in their tummies. It may also act as a natural poop-eliminator for them.

oopps! I meant to say "lick" a little butter off my finger!:o
Boy, if I discovered that the worldwide dilema of constipation could be relieved simply by "kicking butter off of one's finger" I'd be a millionaire!! lol:D

I just want to say thank you to everyone's replies. I just love this site...I have spent many hours already reading over past posts and looking at pictures...I'm sure I'll be spending many more! If I ever figure it out, I'll be sharing pictures of my boys, Killer and Buchi, approx. 13 years old each and Beanie, around 4 years old. My kids are without prior history as they are all strays that just showed up at my doorstep. Well, I'm off to let Beanie 'kick some butter' around....

Just 'cleaned the box' and found evidence the butter may be helping....I think we'll kick a little again today! I was a little nervous yesterday because my big 18 pound carmudgeon cat knew Beanie was getting something good when I offered the butter finger, and of course, demanded a taste himself. I waited for an explosion..smile..but all is well in my cat world today. Thank you.
