Last Thursday (6/5) I was leaving for work. As I was pulling out of my driveway, I noticed this little brown thing running in my front yard towards my car. Upon closer examination, I saw that it was a pug. Since I live in a very rural area and know everybody and every animal in town, I knew it wasn't local. I got out of the car and he came running up to me. He was scared but friendly. I started walking towards my house to tell my mom (she baby-sits at my house). He followed me. He went into my garage. I went in the house and told mom everything and when I opened the door again to go out, he came in the house. So I got him a blanket, some water and some food (large breed weight management :D ). So my mom called my brother (Andy) who came up and got the Pug. Andy gave him a bath and bought him a collar. We put a sign up at the general store but had not heard anything. He had to spend the night at moms. He was such a love. He has cataracts and ear problems. He was not neutered though. We nicknamed him humper.
Friday morning I e-mailed our local humane society to see if there was any reports of a missing senior pug. They said that there was a 5 yr. male missing from Blandburg (10 min. drive away) since May 25th. I called the lady and it was her dog. She came down and took Scooby home. Scooby and his two legged sisters and his mommy were so happy to see each other. It was so nice to see such a happy ending.

What a happy ending, although I did for a minute think that you had gotten yourself a new little pugster to keep! I can just imagine the relief of that owner! Gosh - a 10 minute ride - wonder how that translates into miles walked by that pugster?? I bet he was one tuckered out fellow. I am so glad you got involved and brought about this reunion! Bless you!

Yeah, my mom almost had a little pugster. She had actually sat down with her bills and figured out how to come up with enough money for neutering and eye cataract surgery for "Tramp." She was calling him Tramp because she has a dog named Lady. :D

I was talking to my neighbors and they had said that he was up there the day before I found him. He laid out on their porch and cried all night long. :( It is amazing how many people had seen him and done nothing. I have to tell you, it was not hard at all to contact the humane society and get the owner's number and call. Why no-one else got involved to help this little guy out is beyond me. You should have seen her eyes light up though when I told her the owner offered a $50.00 reward. I thought to myself, yeah, now that you know that you could benefit from it, I'll bet you'll get a little more involved next time.

  This does boggle the mind, doesn't it?? Thankfully the woman who lost him at least had the presence of mind to notify shelters, etc. My Ripley wound up in a shelter after being picked up by Animal Control as a stray. When I first laid eyes on him he was underweight and had huge mats of poodle fur all over his little body. I can't imagine that someone didn't help this little guy somewhere along the way. Clearly he had been homeless and fending for himself for quite some time. No one called the shelter asking about him so fortunately, for me at least, he became mine! :) :)

Your mom is so sweet to have already been thinking ahead about his neutering and cataract surgery. I wonder if little pugster's owner realizes just how lucky she was that he wound up with you two. You are heroes for sure!

Aw, how wonderful of you to help this little guy out!! I know he just loves you for it!!!

I can believe that people didn't do anything about it--the night we found the black lab lying on the side of the road a few weeks ago, cars were just whizzing by--they would turn their heads, and then go off on their merry ways.
