I went and saw a baby bunny at the SPCA. His friend was adopted today soe he is all alone. When I got him out I noticed his nails were growing and curling, they were way to long. I also noticed he was almost out of pellets and had no hay. So I am going back right now to bring him hay, pellets, a block of wood, a cat toy and nail clippers, for those long nails.
LOL, I gotta do what I gotta do :D

Ok.. that will do him well for a while, but what about afterwards? I think you should just tell the people at the SPCA about his conditions.

I would do BOTH. There is nothing wrong with volunteering to do the shelter animals a kindness, but the people there should also know about his conditions.

Don't you worry :D It's me! LOL.
He wouldn't let me give Freckles the wood or cat toy :( . They did eccept the hay though! Yipee! I told him to call me as soon as they ran out and I would bring some more to them! :D
I wouldn't cut his nails unless they knew about it, so of course I asked! He said that only Vollenteers and staff members can do that kind of work, so I said ok here are some nail clippers and handed them to him. He gave me this look and I said "Well you do work here don't you?". LOL So he cut Freckles nails while I held him.
I told him bunnies teeth grow constantly and that Freckles should have come wood in his cage. I also told him just wire floors is not good on a bunnies feet, so hopefully they will put some Wood in there for him.
Some sad news though, Freckles is from a case they are investigating and the owner wants him back :( . I hope they don't give him back, just by seeing his nails I can see the owner doesnt' know how to care for rabbits, also the hair on his nose and ears was diffrent and weird feeling, kinda coarse and ruff. I dunno, maybe that is just that particulary bunny though?
I might be going back tomrrow to see him and let him run around the cat play area again. He has so much fun :D I wish you all could see him, he is breath taking. He is all white with brown spots down his spine and then brown spots randomly on his sides and another brown spotted line on his tummy with more spots all over it also. He is absolutly breath takeing.

Oh Ash....you have such a loving heart. I'm afraid you're setting yourself up for a fall though...... If that bunny is part of an ongoing investigation there's a chance he may end up going back to his owners.
And even if they don't return him to his owner, what will happen to him then and how will you handle that? Oh do be careful.
And that was really, really stupid of the guy not to let the bun have the toys.... it just reinforces my belief that a lot of shelters employ people who may love animals but don't know much about the animals they serve.... Rabbits, as an "unusual" pet really get the brunt of misinformation and mishandling at many shelters...if there is anything I hate its stupidity in a rescue organization.....
Take care of yourself and try not to get too attached.....

Daisylover- You know when you look into a bunny's eyes and they ust plead for you to take them home? But you are just going to stay for 10 mins and not get attached? ;) But he won't be comeing home with me even if he does go up for adoption. I'm not aloud to have another bunny unless it is Coco, and thats only because he is in such a horrible place at the moment. I don't think I will be getting Coco though ebcause since my sister and him have broken up I havn't talked to him :( I'm still trying though.
Freckles is adorable. I hope he gets adopted to someone who will care for him because he deserves it. I found out he is a young adult un altered male. He is a cutie though! i think they are giving the person the cage with Freckles also so maybe he will be easier to adopt out? I sure hope so. He is in the cat room and the look those cats give him is a lunch time look.

Oh this is terrible!!!! Is there a local rescue organization...perhaps a chapter of the house rabbit society that can take him in???? This is very upsetting to me......
Who is Cocoa...another bunny? Why could you take Cocoa but not Freckles??? A bunny in need is a bunny in need.
I'm not being critical I'm just trying to understand...you know how mushy I am when it comes to bunnies....this is enough to make me cry...... :(

My dad si weird liek that  he thinks that a shelter is good place for an animal and doesn't see freckles as a bunny in need. :(
No, as far as I know there are no bunny shelters around here, but I could always be proven wrong.
I iwhs I could have adopted freckles, he deserves to be in a home with someone who will spoil him and keep him fro the rest of his life.
I called today and there are no bunnies for adoption at the moment. So that means he was either adopted out or given back, hopefully adopted out. I have been praying about him and I hope he was adopted out. :(
