We have a Doberman, but he does not have the cropped ears. I see in your Pictures that your dogs do.........that is your choice. Our boy is as he was born, and is beautiful. He is a good Guard Dog...........and to me the ears make no difference. It is a Human thing to do that to them........and is Not Normal.!!!!!

I too, had a rough colllie.......a blue merle.............on our farm. They are great dogs. Tried to get him to herd our sheep, but after hubby calling from him from one side ,and me from the other - - - he looked at us both and trotted off home. As you know, my girl is 1/2 a cream retriever. I never had anything to do with Labradors, or retrievers........but I have had this cross bred dog for 21 months......
The Vet says she looks like the poodle, but everything else is her Mother ( Mother = retriever)............so I am on a new learning experience.

What do you mean by snow dog?? Samoyed's were originally bred to pull sleds for the Samoyed people. But maybe you meant something else...

My favorite breed is a Bichon Frise. We have a 1 year old Bichon named Coconut and she is the sweetest and funniest dog.

When she comes back from a walk we give her a treat. The thing is she won't take it unless she first does a trick for it. So we have her rollover, dance or sit/stay before giving the treat. Otherwise she leaves it sitting on the floor.

When we are somewhere other than home and it's time to go I'll say "Let's go home." and she'll get all excited and head for the door. This is before putting on coats or giving any other indication of heading back.

When I go to pickup the kids from school I'll say "Should we get the kids?". She'll head straight for the door. Then when I open it she'll go straight to the door of the van.

Talk about loving. She wants nothing more than for the whole family to be together.

Want a companion dog? Get a Bichon treat him/her right and you'll be in business.

Remember this is a companion and they will want you around. No kenneling them and going on vacation. Don't cage them for extended periods day after day. You'll break their little hearts because they want to be with you!!:) :)

I have noticed that mostly everyone likes larger dogs. I am a little diffrent I am prone to the Small dogs

My three favorite breeds are <and Mommy to all three>

1. The Bichon Frise
You have to love The Bichon Blitz , Constant jollyness, awesome coat of curly thick white Fur and Those black paw pads.

2. The Pug
You have to love this breed to be able to live with a dog that snores when they are asleep and awake <LOL> and Love those huge eyes and soft floppy ears (Way back in the day they use to crop the Pugs ears until they found out the fur on there ears are as soft as silk then they took it out of the breed standard)

3. The Boxer
I love this breed they are Beautiful, Smart and Very Loyal they are beautiful with cropped ears or with out. They are very easy to train and are great with kids (At least the ones I no all are)

Hi All,

I'm new to this list just wanted to show my two babies. I recently got two new puppies one mini poodle(Shelby,1yr female, a real spitfire) and a tiny toy poodle(Piffy,7mos female). I love them both but they have very different personalities and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on training poodles:confused: . Through the years we have had may dogs from shepards to labs to yorkies. My girls get along most of the time but because Piffy only weights 4lbs to Shelblys 13lbs I still keep them separated when I'm not home(just in case Shelby get's a little to frisky and uses Pif as a ragdoll).:eek:

Lol Jan, I think she meant that the more traditional type (insane LOL) are what she prefers. I'm the same way. My cousin has two border collies who act like they're seniors and don't have that border collie spunk in them. One's almost 2 and one is still well under a year old. You'd think that they'd be bouncing off the walls at that age!

Siberian husky - at the best I like red&white and black&white, but all siberian huskies are cool

Doberman pinscher - well, I like at the best brown dobies with no croped ears

German Shepherd - I love black german shepherds...

Australian shepherds - blue merles and red merles

Of course I think Border Collies are fun...I wouldn't own one if I didn't like them.

What I meant was that I like my border collies a little on the freaky side...the freakier the better actually, and believe me I live with one of the biggest freaks around. After having Winter and seeing my friends BC's I can honestly say that the freakish BC's are a joy to live with.

My husband actually is standing off the side feeding them
cheese popcorn so I could get them to pose so cute.

Bellabe or Bella, the one who's grey faced will be 11 on the 24 of April. She's my pistol and you'd never know she is that old cause she still just nuts. Runs around like a kid.

Nickelbe, or Nicki is the Golden on the left she will be 3 on Easter Sunday. She's my problem child, naughty is the name we usually use for her instead of Nicki.

Cooper is my little handsome boy. He's 9 months now and has been the best puppy I ever had. He so well behaved and just a little lover doggie. The only trouble I have with him is "STAY" with the other two running around its so hard to get Cooper to stay in one spot. Cooper is a great Nephew of my oldest Golden Belle.

AWWW.......no wonder they look like their posing......more popcorn please, I suppose they're saying! That is one of the cutest pictures I have ever seen of your dogs! Yes, I live in Edgerton, WI which is between Janesville and Stoughton if you know where they are. I work in the Madison area though. I have the Lhasa and Eskie which are a handful I must say. I didn't think it would be hard with 2 small dogs but, it seems like they never stop. My Lhasa is 3 ( will be 4 in August) and my Eskie just turned 6 months old. I'm definitely a true dog-lover though. I just like animals in general! So, I'm gald I found a place where I can talk about them!:)

My favourite breed of dog is a Chihuahua and has been for about 12 years when mum and dads friends daughter got a purebred Chihuahua called Pesha and when I heard him singing into a microphone, I thought, "What an adorable little boy".

About 2 years ago I got a Chihuahua Sydney Silkie cross. I called her Angel but in reality she is a little devil.

Everyone that has met her loves her and I feel so priveliged to have got my little baby!

I love all dogs and all animals but Chihuahua is the best!!
