After sleeping about 4 hours last night, due to thunderstorm alerts on the radio, I got up somewhat groggy this morning. I fed my menagerie, and visited a few www sites. Then, I went to our local shelter for my bi-weekly visit. They have had a 3 month old black male kitty there who does all sorts of antics while in his cage in order to get me to take him out of the place. He has been in there for almost a month. I do not know why, but after entering the place I immediately went to his cage. He began his usual stuff, clawing at me through the bars, meowing. rubbing up against the cage doors and the like, and being extremely vocal when ever I walked away from him. I opened the cage door and took him out. He wanted out of there so bad, that it seemed he would almost do anything to get my attention. I had never received as many kitty kisses, hugs and lovables as I experienced with this kitten. The last furkid that I took in after doing the same sort of antics was Puma. Laurie, the keeper said to me, "Are you going to take the little black kitty?". Of course, I couldn't resist any longer. So, now I have "Midnight" as part of my menagerie. Laurie also said that he was half-price. I asked, "is this because he has been here so long?" She replied, "No, but because June is Adopt-a-Cat month"- which was news to me. Right now they have an abundance of black and tuxedo kittens for adoption.
His antics when exploring this place reminded me of a racoon. Also, upon meeting the rest of my extended family, he began to hiss and growl and play attack like a badger at all of them. Of course, they were all afraid of him, including Otis. Then he would attack their tails, and without giving enough time for the atackee to respond, Midnight would , with extreme quickness, scamper off in a typical kitten playful lilt. This went on for about 2 hours -what a comedy show! Now that everything has calmed down, the others do not bother him much! I think he wore every cat out, because this place is abnormally quiet for this time of day. I guess he knows what he is doing when it comes to introducing himself:D
Midnight has a little white patch on his throat, but is otherwise all black. What a clown of a cat, and what I particularly like about him is his affectionate (sloppy) kitty kisses.

Last night Midnight slept next to my head on the bed. I think that he would sleep under the covers on a really cold night, because of his propensity to do that even during warmer weather. And needless to say my face was covered with kitty kisses:D
I know every one would like to see pictures, and I have the facilities to present them, however like it was stated earlier, I do not know how to do it. If someone would send me a step by step procedure I would be happy to send them. Now that I have 15 furkids, it would take up a whole page to present each one with a little write up. I have a digital camera and also a camera that came with the computer, but so far, every attempt has met with major problems.
IttyBittyKitty has the right idea, in that they will at times choose you, by dictating as to who will take them home :D . To me it is difficult to resist any furkid that demands to come home with me. Remembering one time, in Bartlesville, Okla, I visited a pet store. They had a caged white and gray furkid, who demonstrated the same attitude toward me. I didn't not take him, and sometimes, I wish I did.

Thanks, all, for your encouraging support. It looks like Midnight has joined the " chase and ambush club". He, Chris, and Happy cat are all playing this early AM. I could tell from his personality that he would eventually join in their rough-and-tumble, running cat games.
The other 2 rescues, Calie and Jumper, are doing OK. Yesterday I noticed that Calie's right eye was all red and swollen. I immediatley put some terramycin on it, but that did not seem to correct the problem. Then, I gave her some amoxycillin, and this stopped the irritation and swelling. I have learned from this, that a small kitten's eye infection may or may not be due to clymedia, but may be due to a URI. This morning she is much better, although her right eye is still a little red, she is not complaining about as yesterday morning. Calie, has a loud purr, and already she flops on her back for tummy rubs. Puma still takes care of them. At least once an hour she will come up on the table top and check them out.

Wayne, how are all the new rescues doing?

K & L, they are doing OK. Callie and Jumper have nearly doubled in weight, and with full tummys. They are now eating dry kitten chow with water. I finally got them weaned off tuna. Right now they are running and jumping around on the table. I still keep them confined to my table top because of the other males in my menagerie. Midnight has been playing jump and ambush with them. At first I thought he was too big for them , but he still enjoys playing with them. Midnight is too old to be their size and too young to play with the others, except Chrissie-cat. Also, Midnight still comes to me early in the morning purring and giving me kitty kisses even when I am asleep, I guess this is the way he thinks it is time for me to get up.
I adopted another furkid, an older male. I'd say he is about 15 years old, from his appearance, I have named him Max. He doesn't do much except eat and sleep and also, he explores the house and all of the window platforms by alternately sleeping on them. Otis thinks he is a younger furkid because of wanting to fight him. Although Max is much older than Otis, he doesn't get up and run from Otis' aggressiveness. I think they have come to a "truce"because I havn't heard much more fighting among them. Although Max is much older than all of my furkids, he is a friendly cat, and easily mixes in with the others. It is only a matter of time before he is accepted by all of the others. Max is a red- brown tabby with thin stripes set on a yellow background. I wanted to adopt him because of his obviously feeling depressed in the shelter as he would only lay in one spot in his cage. He looked so dignified, but without a home. I would also have to clean out his eyes because of an infection he had. I hope that he can live out the remainder of his years in peace and safety, knowing that he is a loved part of my extended family.

Tamara, thanks for the offer. What I am looking for is someone who will tell me step-by-step what to do in order to post pictures. I have had so much trouble in the past with this factor on Pet Talk, sometimes I am afraid to try it again, because of the extensive problems I had last time I attempted it. I know it can be done, because it was done for me, but as usual, the person left no instructions, and said just "to play with it and you can figure it out". (Big help).
My kitties are doing better. They are still bugged with clymedia, but each passing day it becomes a little less. Jumper and Callie are both typical kittens in the way they play. Once in a while the fall off the table on to the floor but I can tell by the way the others react whenever this happens. They have both grown in the two weeks I have had them, as well as gaining weight. I'd say their weight has nearly doubled in the last 10 days.

Wayne,
I have used both the Drag and Drop, and the Explore tool. Both work great ......... PM me if you want help when you are doing it, and I will go and make sure I try and upload the same way and talk you through it.
Congrats on Midnight. Sounds like a honey (maniac, but a honey none-the-less :D )
