i love st. bernards, my friend wants one. she is thinking a shorthaired.

i read that they used 4 st. bernards in the movie CUJO. also to get the dog(s) to attack the car, they put their favorite doggie toys in the car so the dog would really want to get in. :)

heres a pic of just how vicious they are.

They are very beautiful dogs...Have you seen the movie bethoveen? I looked up the breed info for you...
They are working dogs at about 26 inches. They shed alot and weigh from 110-200 lbs. They are moderately protective and their life span is to about 8 yrs. Here's some more info:
"The St. Bernard is powerful, strong, muscular with an some what sad looking expression. He is a faithful, gently, kindly breed who loves children. He requires no training for his work since generations of service seemed to have stamped the rescuing instinct upon his character. Because of his size he does not make a breed for an apartment dweller as he needs plenty of space and large food rations. A well-trained Saint Bernard is a mellow, affectionate, lazy dog who will protect your home. Until the bones are fully formed in puppies it is best to keep their activity to a minimum."

I don't know many of the specifics on this breed, but I love them and all the ones I've met! Before getting one, I'd research more about them, but they are so loveable and cuddly, I just love the big dogs!
