2 gerbil babies

they are so fricking cute. I want to keep them :eek:. one is pure black with a white forhead, and one is pure white, like Sager. omG they are so cute, they are one week old today, yay!! I can hold them now. I am so happy. they are so adorible. I hope one is female and one is male then I can house one with Sage and one with Jade.. :D. happy!!! I will post pics when My stupid computer is back. :) I am so happy they survived. they are so cute.

If they are a week old you need to be looking for nipples on the belly to sex them. If it has nipples it is female and if it doesn't it is male!!!

I hope you have one of each ;)

if they are different sexed gerbils I will house them with Sage and Jade, if they are both female or both male I will give them away together.

ps: how do I look for nipples? The pups eyes arent even fully open yet :eek:, one is jet black how do I see the nipples? I guess I feel for them?? Thanks for replying ;).

You should have been able to see the nipples when they were getting their fur in. They would show up as lighter colored spots.

I havent held them yet. i am still kinda scared. Sager lets me touch them though. I will sex them after school today. :eek:

You have to do it now before they get their fur. To me it looked like little pin pricks. You have to pick them up, with clean hands and turn them over and have a look. The nipples should be on the hips kind of area on the belly (can't think of how else to describe it!)

The males will have nothing at all.

Sorry for the 100 questions but what will you do with Sage and Jade if you give the pups away?

TM, if you put the 3 males in the 20 gallon tub they should all live together happily, unlike females who should be kept in pairs.

Or perhaps you could look into getting Jade neutered so he and Sage can live together and the boys together. Although neutering requires a good vet and is rather expensive $40 - $120 I have been told (I paid £32).

I am also mad that they are both boys. but this way they can go together.

I cant get Jade fixed because the vets dont neuter animals smaller then rabbits.

because my mom wont let me. she probably wouldent even let me keep them housed with their parents if they were the same sex. :(
