Shiba Lovers, where are you! I know I've already seen one of you here. ;)

I currently do not have a Shiba anymore, but I do work with the National Shiba Rescue. They are my top fav breed, I just love those little stubborn butts! :D

I know there are a couple people with shibas on here :)

The ones I know of off the top of my head are lovemyshiba, Byakko's mom, and Aspen and Misty who has a shiba inu/lab cross

I really like the breed, cute little guys, and very obstinate! :D

Welcome to PT! :D

Byakko's Mom here.Yes, I love her so very much but you are right they are stubborn butts.I think she barely passed her first obedience class ,of course thank goodness they never end :) They are so very comical and so much fun but you definately have to be prepared for a stubborn, strong willed baby. The best description I heard was a furry teenager :D .Please no offense to any teens, just joking.I love my teens.

I just love to meet other Shiba lovers!!!!!!!!
I have 3 dogs, and don't ever tell the other 2, but I just love my Shiba the best--or in a different way I should say. He's a stubborn butt, but I think that's why I love him so much. He loves me too, and since I won him over, I think that's why I love him. He doesn't like everyone, I guess he makes me feel special!!:D
I would just love to hear about Shiba Rescue
(don't tell my husband, but I want more Shibas!!!!!)

Pm me or post more about it--I can't wait to hear!!!!!!
Here's a picture of my Kito

This was the last foster I had, a perhaps, shiba/jindo/shar-pei mix. He was about 6 years old, and I drove 2 hours (one way) to pull him from a kill shelter.

http://www.pwnd.org/~angel/dog/gingko96022.jpg

I loved him so much! He pretty much saved my life one night. He was about 52 pounds, so a bit bigger then your purebred shiba, but he defeintly had the personality of one all the way, but he was affectionate, ALWAYS ever so affectionate. ;)
He's got a new and good home now.
I haven't fostered since him, I would love to get back into it, but I'm waiting until we are pulling a little bit more money into this household.

I have worked with different rescues, and different shiba rescues, but the one I work with the most now (mostly through correpsondance and transport, not that any dogs ever come through this little town of mine!) I basically email with people looking to adopt, matching them up with the best dogs, answering any questions and informting them about the shiba traits!

Formally the Colorado Shiba Rescue, now the National Shiba Rescue/Shiba Angel's Rescue.

Click on Volunteer if you want to fill out a form on how you would like to help!
We are always looking for more knowledgable shiba people to help out, specially those whom can foster and/or pull from shelters!

Your Kito is gorgeous!!! I love the red and creame males myself, my fiance fancies the black and tans. We want another dog again so bad right now, but it's just not the right time finacially.

Yes, she does. Poor sweetie. I believe it said she was to be PTS because of these problems:( , but that it can be fixed with surgery.

There is a lady at my apartments that has a Shiba Inu, I dont know its name but it is sooo cute. I have a question though do Shiba Inues only come in that tanish color?

AngelZoo

Shiba's come in Red (the tan as you called it), sesame and Black and Tan. Those are the normal japanese standards.

But some other countries have introduced new colours, such as cream, pinto. I have even heard about black shiba's but never seen one, and don't know if it was purebred, and long haired shibas.
